The  FinisterreJeans just had their first wash. No shrinkage but then I had to wash them on a cold wool program. Strange washing Jeans in a wool program me. The held up pretty well during the first weeks of wear but no whiskers yet, what did come out was the streakiness of the denim. They have the streakiness of the early Edwin jeans which I like but I am not to sure if that what others think about that..

They grew a  half a size during wear but not too bad.

They are nice and warm and surprisingly not too hot either.  I am enjoying them.

The morrocan and other non ethnic dutch cultures wearing SI now makes it a style similar to chavs burberry. And around here they also got their hands on the Shadow line as well. It comes and goes though..Same thing  happening to Phillipe Plein, Moncler  and Louis Vuitton... Quickly enough things get faked and the top boys are on to the next luxury brand.. Was in the Louis vuitton store couple of weeks ago where e a midsize bag for 1200 euro was paid in 20 euro bills....Class act.

That's one of the reasons I stopped wearing SI..The right wing hooliganism in the 90's has twist here in the Netherlands.. Now SI has been, twenty years on, taken over by Maroccan youth who know tits all about the terrace culture..

On the selvedge part of the Finisterre jeans, I would have liked that as well. But a pair of Gap or APC jeans now has a selvedge so the notion that it is a higher quality is not really there for me.

I think it just puts the jeans off nicely but since the outer seam is also the curved one, it would have meant cutting it there

The lightness, well we will see how they fare through a abuse of a winter but I think they will be warm enough especially with the extra fabric in the back.

On the part of choosing a pair.. don't go for these if you want a pair of classic looking jeans. They look odd with the slanted back pockets and extra fabric behind it.. The ones you are looking at are solid choices for a "standard" relatively cheap pair of selvedge jeans. My 15 year old rainbow selvedge Edwins are still  in  rotation and are in my top 5 of favorite pairs ever..

Well , the jeans from Finisterre showed up today..I have to say they took it pretty far out imho. The denim feels light weight and soft.. Like a well worn in pair but are really dark with a herringbone pattern sometimes peaking through. It doesn't itch and you can feel the merino brushed inside, which is great for the next colder days .Straight fit but on the skinny side of that.. Looks like a normal pair from the front, the back is another story. They placed the pockets to the sides of your hip for easier acces with cold hands. I have to say it works pretty good and while i am typing this I can acces my pocket fairly easily. The pocket placement also meant swerving the side seam around. Finisterre placed the back pocket on that seam and also added an extra layer of denim on the back as an extra protection for sitting down on colder areas. Nice thought but I will see if it doesn't start to behave in a diaper kind of way. Would have loved to see some bigger back pockets though, my wallet (visvim) just about fits. I wil see if i can get the missus to take some fit pics tonite

Can anyone suggest a good looking hiking boot/shoe that'd be good for hot weather? Bonus points if the soles can handle a few seconds at 800-1200 centigrade.

I can vouch for my Helcor Timberlands on regular heat 90 c*.But not to 400c* as I think you ask for. They do a regular heat/scratch/waterproof yellow boot and a hiker. I got them with a kevlar nose but there is a regular as well. I am on my feet for 5 hours a day walking ship docks and airports and they hold up for a year..

Finisterre dropped their new line today called CWS (Cold Water Surf) Two jackets some sweaters and a pair of jeans.

I ordered the jeans, will report when they get here...

I did a quick query but it looks like the cloth ones are a JPrelease...

I am using a bamboo/ cotton mix as my  underwear shirts.  A bot less stinky on the cotton front but I am in my third week of 6 shirts arsenal.So I can't say anything about the lasting factor. On the merino side, the 100% merino shirts I have used have the same things as described. Look for a blend . The ones I am using area a polyamide/merino blend. Soft enough not to notice but way less smelly. ( and longer lasting)

That colorway looks like something that would be sitting on footlocker shelves for months. Pretty lazy for a collab.

Tigerprawn, I also own a pair of the 3/4  shorts. Older (think 3rd season. They are easily my favorite pair of cycle wear I own. Keeps the sunburn away from the legs and are surprising breathable . One query though  Mine have a chamois in it ..Are they still doing that or has that gone away??

My life is spiralling out of control and I feel miserable. I'm almost one year behind in my engineering degree, have shit grades(don't even know how the fuck I'll get an internship), zero social skills and people probably assume I'm unfriendly/can't speak English because of my shit social skills. My SA is killing me and in an unfamiliar situation all I can do is smile awkwardly and literally feel like I want to run back home and I spend too much time lying in bed just sleeping or browsing the Internet. I think my brain has rotted away because I literally feel dumb as fuck in comparison to three years ago. Like seriously, I go through some days feeling like I'm in a drug-induced stupor and I seem to take an awfully long time to grasp an easy concept. I feel like the only happiness I seem to get is binge-browsing Internet fashion forums and watching stupid shit. I went to see the school-therapist for a while but she's useless as hell. I'm gonna sell off some stuff and see a doc/hopefully get meds instead.

For the past couple months i've been feeling on the low. Waking up feeling worthless and pathetic. I don't know what other words to use, or if I should even be posting in this thread. Its really strange because this summer has been very rewarding to me: show opportunities, new experiences, even got a girl i've been seeing regularly. I can't get out of this funk.

 

I have a knack of not telling my close friends about stuff like this. I don't want them to worry about me. 

Is it the fear that it all falls away ?? I know it's easier said then done but start living in the moment a bit more..Enjoy the good things that are coming to you.  It seems like it is coming your way ..There is enough time  left to worry and mope about the bad things .. and to get it in balance..
