  1. striped lame (lamé) blazer is right- who buys this shit, the second coming of liberace?

Is that a SLP picture ??

If so how do you guys wear those jackets??

The sleeve reaches 3/4 up of his forearm... How  do you fit a shirt underneath or bend your arms??

I can understand the aesthetics of Hedi's thrift shop look but according to everyone it fits perfectly.. This one seems clearly not..

  2. I decided I was just going to get this poncho-style coat custom made so do any of you know where I could do this, preferably online? I would really appreciate it.

    My advice to you ..Don't...

Two reasons A :Sourcing material will be a nightmare and you will never get one that looks like the one this guy is wearing

B : It won't be that coat but a bad rip off, that coat was made for stage appearances and not for everyday life.

To cheer you up a bit ..If you like the style  of the jacket look into the Needles rebuild collection for a similar feel but more wearable jackets..

  3. If you want adult brightness go with the Adidas.. That Neon Nike is too cheap imo and fuccboi hypeish , where as the muted colors on the adidas have a more mature fee and are probably easier to blend in with a wider range of clothes..

But then again  wtf  do i know..

  4. Unless of course your studies make you study so you have enough knowledge on welding and iron work for your degree then get into it.  Welding is easy but you need the constant practice and that's why I say leave it to the pro's. It seems you have them at your disposal so the stuff you use on a daily basis looks great instead of average..

  5. I design and make wood and easily shaped polyester furniture for my home and for friends.

That's what I am comfortable with . I leave the welding, frame and upholstering making to the pro's..Mainly because that have better equipment and a workshop suited for that kind of work.

My workshop is a woodworking one and I get asked by them to do things in return.

My advice ..Get a workshop to do the assembly and your work. Find some place to do your welding for you and if you do the stuff you think you're comfortable with (the assembly and building work of the chair.)

Believe me it saves you stress and costs on material and rent of equipment..

  6. I wear the same size in Veilance as I do in other stuff from Arc.

Think their broad size spec might be the same but looking in to some of the tailoring aspects of Veilance I think it would be wise to try stuff out  if you can and if not to look at the size spec sheets.

I always measure from my own closet a nice close fitting shirt and loose fitting jacket. If I end up somewhere in between  I have a cleaner fit and some room to layer

  7. On the Arktos tip. Owning a pair I would have to say that although it's more work to put them on there is a plus to the sock liner. You can warm it up by wearing it if you're inside. Then put to boots with really warm feet. Strange to remove this tech spec from the shoe in the capsule collection that is to break new grounds...

But not to hate on the line, I did buy the missus a funnel neck sweat..

  8. Sorry  Twizm, the point I was trying to make was that under the ACG moniker the designers got a free reign. The product that I see here is slimmed down ACR stuff at a lower price point. There is nothing new to the line.. The boots were there already, the jacket is a goretex jacket. The funnel sweat will be from tech pack fleece so where is the "out there ism" in that??

  9. Nike Tech Pack M-65 is '07 >.

    Veilance is '10 >.

    fyi.

You sir, are absolutely right.. The reason I thought was true  was the in fall 09 when Veilance and Nike both had a Fieldcoat..In nearly the same color.. But then Nike has been trying to get a more dressed version of their athletic  stuff into their NSW line after that as well with hints to the tech wear market.

And mr.Willkhitie, I thought this was an exchange of ideas kind of place??

I was expressing some of my fears I would have with Errelson taking over my only beloved left over part of Nike that is there still untouched.Pardon me if I spoke too soon.

As one of the original Techwear brands there was I think ACG has a legacy that you shouldn't want to alter, IMHO it was and is the place where Nike designers could go overboard on anything. It might not have come out they way they started off from but the freedom to bring that to consumers was there and mostly in bold colors to spice up the often monochrome black grey outdoor world.

Bringing Mr Errelson into that with his respected background was not a match I liked. As much as I like ACR as a brand on it's own it is not the way I would like to see for ACG. Another name would have suited better the way it looks Nike wants to steer this.

Too bad the rest of my fears also did play out the way they did..

Except for price point the collection doesn't add anything for me to the already existing tech brands out there.

Getting mr. Errelson aboard was getting him to okay a cheaper version of ACR imho

That might be relevant to others with no experience  with or people looking for a cheaper version with tech wear but not to me.

I buy the stuff to last me longer than a season and if I  have todrop some extra cash on it to do so ,then that is not a problem to me.

But I am still puzzled by Nike's move towards this

All that work for a dive into a niche market that still leaves most of my friends and co workers puzzled..

Mostly at the price point of the gear.

Because  shelling out 1100 euro for a goretex tailored jacket while there is a 500 euro hiking jacket that will do the same job but is not as tailored is still a step up for a lot of people.

So this actually might do some good as an introduction. But wether after that this consumers will make the step up to the more expensive is still a gamble for especially future ACR customers. They already had a light version of the stuff at their disposal but at a much lower price point.

Well that's of me chest carry on.. :P

  10. So Basically ACR is helping ACG to be in competition with itself??

That doesn't make sense to me. Because ACR is making high quality stuff that Nike's mass production probably won't have.

I know Mr. Errelson has done some collabs in the past but reviving ACG with your own abbreviation being that close..

Even if it's a small capsule collection, I don't think he would benefit from it in exposure for the label he is running.

And Nike..please let the ACG gear moniker for the outdoor stuff, but then again  Nike's marketing department and product department have had so much misses that they have to rely on outside input (HTM,Kanye,Fragment )heavily to sell their product. They probably thought this was a great idea as everything is already there (logo heritage etc)...Nike has been out on  the Veilance trail since their first M65 ripoff a couple of years ago.I am probably not wrong in expecting this to be along those lines

But just like Arcteryx it would have been better to sell that under a different name because the reason the lonesome ACG drops work is because  of that heritage.. Now you stand the danger of fucking it up for the second time.

  11. going to be going next year in april with a couple of mates, we're going for probably 3 or 4 nights, go on friday and return on the monday/sunday. we probably won't be going clubbing or getting any prozzies or anything like that, just in coffee shops and museums and stuff really...

how much do you think i'd need to bring with me? and is it worth getting one of those city cards? also i heard the pre rolled joints are a bit of a rip off and the busiest coffee shops in the touristy areas use pesticides on their weed or something, is that true?

NowI don't know how much of a high roller you are but Amsterdam is on par with any major English city.. If weed is your main destination look for the smaller shops. Don't do the bulldog.

Go to the greenhouse if you like a touristy place ... The City card is good and also try and get a OV chipcard (oyster card) with the OV fiets option turned on. With that you can rent a bike from the central station depot and bring it back at night and pay 5 euro rent on it. You probably use the public transport with the same card.

    Anything else just ask.

  12. i live in montreal and want a pair of liner gloves, not chunky or anything, that will still keep me warm, obviously not SUPER WARM but still enough to survive,

my friend had a pair of north face etip glove to sell me but after reading some reviews they seem to be shitty

    any idea ?

Let me just say that I have no alliance with them, just that they make the broadest range of gloves I've seen

So here we go again.. Have you looked at Hestra??
