  1. What my doc used to tell me ..I can't believe in the period that young men and women are at their most vulnerable , the school system decides to overload them with stress..

Exams, papers and  new social integration away from home are tough as hell on a 20+ year old.

    I cracked too..

Wayne , PM me if you wanna talk.. It might be easier with a stranger..

  2. Well, you know where it's coming from..

If you are 28 and still in school that's a choice you made to get a higher education that will hopefully pay off in the end and will get you to do something that you love.

Now go and apologize to the groom to be.. He is making  a choice. Be happy for him and at that age he will probably need you in 10 years time ..

  3. Anyone know of some good light water-resistant technical top layers? Looks like I may have to spend a month on a research vessel and in the middle of nowhere I don't think anyone really wants someone wearing all black and grey with a dash of khaki on a boat since that's basically begging to be lost at sea. Actually, if anyone has suggestions for boat-friendly techwear (keeping in mind Equatorial, not Arctic) I'd be really interested.

Rethink that if it's equatorial.. Get something quick drying instead of water-resistant, The warmth will come into play and you will be sweating wearing water resistant stuff. Patagonia has some quick drying t's( Capilene 1) which I love to surf in. They are dry within ten minutes out of the water and have a spf 50..There are more brands but they do not get to me now..

I used to take a thin waterproof jacket, board shorts, thin cotton poly blend T shirts, full foul weather suit, merino underwear (long johns and shorts and T's) and short wellies  along my live a boards in the tropics..

  4. ^ all close-ups no? Remember being pretty fond of the Blacktop Reeboks. That was until I tried them and realized that was just too much hightop for age. Kind of have a suspicion the Nike's are in that territory.

Think it also depends on your shoe size..A size 11 wouldn't look as bad as my 9's did. They reached the half of my shins and I still had to tug my jeans in them and they started to balloon over as soon as i walked a bit..

But a skintight jean and a size 11 might change that..

  5. Leave to the dutch post to F**** things up.

When I checked last week the parcel I sent out wasn't moving..

So I called the post.. We don't know or can see what is happening ,you can only start an inquiry after 21 days..

Yesterday out of nowhere the parcel came back.. No letter or explanation on it ..

I have sent it out again this morning. Now let's see if I can get the money back of the first one..

    Wankers...

  6. Think they are.. I have two new pairs for next summer. Think they were vulcanized first and wore like Vans but these look llke a cupped sole a la CP. If you like a more upgraded Era have a look at the Yuketen Hermosa as well. Far more expensive but they are so incredible and nearly bombproof

  7. The main guy behind this is a design researcher named Jan Chipchase (

http://janchipchase.com/) whose work is to build rapport with the people he's trying to understand and design for. If he were to appear as a US agent or spy would be detrimental to both his project and the people helping him.

Please explain then why he would carry around a bag that looks like he is a US agent or a spy..

Because that bag screams special forces..

  8. As a previous owner of a pair of sock dart , there are two things to consider.. Wide feet(like me) give it a awful shape and the strap was bloody useless but if you have a high arch it will cut into the top and later your feet..

But they look awesome here, no lunar sole in sight..

  9. ^black of those are mega.

There's a writer called Warren Ellis that has a writing blog on www.morning.computer who mentioned these in his latest newsletter:

Not cheap but fairly interesting from a design point.

Wow, they seem really down to earth these guys ..Dc the one Kabul the next..

That double passport pouch.. I have been there traveling to Lebanon the year after I visited my brother in law who is a journalist stationed  in Israel. My government provided me with two passports at little cost but warned me to leave the one with the Israel stamps behind at home. If it was to be found I could face espionage charges.. Same thing when  I visited the US later that year, the Lebanon visa would surely have given me a thorough search..So why anyone would travel with both is beyond me..
