  1. I loved the indigo colour on these so much that I went for a year and a half before the first wash! (And I didn't even water wash them - had them dry cleaned.) And these were my daily driver's - worn at least 5 times a week or more.

Now I've had them dry cleaned a few times, professionally wet cleaned once, and washed them twice.

The indigo barely went anywhere, though. It's been a good four years, and I'm still breaking them in!

  2. Levi's RED denim blazer from 2001 Autumn / Winter collection.

Really sweet one-button jacket made from a supersoft dark 13 oz. stretch denim with a viscose/acetate lining with a celestial star and moon print. Lapels are lined in fine black leather. Arms are cut like a motorcycle style jacket with curved seams for a better fit.

The theme for this collection was "Day/Night" which is reflected in the idea of this blazer, which is based on a traditional tuxedo jacket with casual jeans-wear features such as contrast topstitching in gold and purple and exposed rivets to highlight the conflict between a daytime and nighttime wearing occasion.

Jacket is missing a cufflink (which could be replaced by any cufflink.) Other than that, jacket is in new condition and was never worn.

Size LARGE (Could also fit medium)

    20" Pit-to-pit

    17.5" Sleeve

    Sold

  3. Yeah, i'm a true 29/31, and I've got Levi's Captial E Stacked Skinnies with the 38.5" inseam, and I honestly would have liked it to be much longer, with stacking up my entire calf, and not just at the ankle. So let's say 40" or longer.

  4. I didn't see the coat, unfortunately. I wonder if we called Levi's they would be able to track down stores that stock these item...Anyone have any experience with as much?

I would say just call the San Francisco store. It's the flagship store, and they're likely to carry what you're looking for, and they'll do send-sales.

  5. I just bought a pair of 1901 LVC 501's in the "Denim Devotee" finish from the European Spring '04 collection, and they fit like a dream!

I was just curious if anyone knew who produced the denim for these jeans in the original version, and where the denim was sourced from in the reproduction, and what weight it may be. It's got a very narrow white selvage (possibly ecru, though the jeans have a finish and it may have faded.) The denim is super dense.

I bought them on eBay in size 30/34, though my true size is about a 29/31. I have oversized 501's that look great, but thought I'd try this 1901 in my true size, and it's a very slim, very flattering cut. Thanks for any info!

  6. I FUCKING REFUSE TO BUY LEVIS NOT MADE IN THE USA. I'm sorry. That's honestly what it comes down to. when they were in the USA, I was buying Levi's w/o ever exploring other options, it wasn't until they closed all the factories in the USA a few years back that I was FORCED to put my money elsewhere...I was a big supporter of the orginal Levi's red and PREMIUM USA LINES!

Well, has anyone seen the new Levi's Capital E "Wrapped Skinny" Eco jean? It's wicked! The jean is 100% organic cotton, has recycled hardware, comes in a rigid blue natural indigo, and is constructed without a side seam. It's just got an inseam and a dart halfway up the front of the leg. And it's made in the USA! Wish I had a picture.

And Levi's Capital E is planning on rolling out an Eco STF 501 with recycled hardware, also made in the USA.

B.T.W. The original Levi's RED collections were built in Tunisia, Spain, Italy and Croatia. Not in the USA.

  7. Yeah, these aren't fakes. A few of my Levi's have that text printed on the pocket. It's text from the old hang tags they used to put on their 501's back in the 40's.

I've never heard of the 541, but to be honest, I don't think they're anything special. They've got the same style tags some of my Levi's RED and European-made LVC garments have, which is kind of odd, if you bought them in the US. But no big deal anyways. I like the vintage inspired look, though, with the rivets and cinchback. This model was probably just one of the "seasonal" models Levi's rolls out with once in a while which stays for a season or two.

  8. Yeah, you guys are totally right. I should have re-read that article, because I noticed in the caption, it mentions they're holding a repro in the picture. So it must have been a repro made for the museum. I swear the placket didn't mention it being a repro, though. I apologize for being misinformed, but, hey - you learn something new every day.

I'm sure the originals are in the fire proof Vault in San Fran.

  9. Does anyone know anything about Goldback denim? I know Levi's Capital E is using it in some of their jackets and jeans right now.

According to them, it's woven in Japan on antique narrow looms, and the stuff they're selling has green selvedge, and is made of a linen/hemp, (and possibly cotton) mix with a great drape, deep green cast, and is apparently environmentally friendly to make.

I tried to google it, and even did a japanese Yahoo search, but got no results.

Sounds rather interesting, so I was thinking of picking up either their jacket or one of the jeans with Goldback denim.

    Anyone know anything about it?

  10. Back when I was living in Germany, I got a chance to visit Levi Strauss' birth house in Buttenheim, Bavaria, which they've turned into a small Levi's museum.

What was a total surprise to me was that this is where the 1880 Nevada jeans now reside. I had no idea what I was in for on the visit! Luckily, I had my camera with me and took some photos. There's also an article from Fraenkischer Tag about the acquisition I have a photo of.

Anyway, I've been on this board a few times and decided to make this my first post. I just wanted to share with you guys some of the photos I took. I some of the information on the captions is no longer correct (because the Nevada Jean is no longer the oldest known exisiting pair of Levi's...Yadda yadda yadda.) But you can see photos from the museum in the following link:
