4. So a few of you already know... but my ace Note (Notesee, on here) and I have a weekly internet (aka worldwide) radio show on www.bboxradio.com called FRESH OUT THE BOX. Been runnin' since the station's start in September '11. We play whatever we feel from 2000-now, though mostly it has been "now"...as so much fresh shit has flown into our inboxes and brother-sister blog sites. #WHOLESOMERAPS

    http://www.purpletapepedigree.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/fresh_out_the_box_promo_500_v2.jpg

We broadcast live from Brooklyn, NY...but we certainly play all types of shit, mixed on 2 turntables by yours truly (from NYC to Bay Area; from Hunstville, Alabama to the UK). We get twisted off of good beer and wine and talk wild shit, take calls, and have good rappers and people as guests. Everyone from Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire to Tom from Archival Clothing.

We are the closest thing to Stretch & Bob in their prime. Yes. I know.

Fresh Out The Box is on every Thursday evening - 7:30-9:30pm EST

just go to BBOX Radio and listen live.

It's basically the radio show version to our blog Purple Tape Pedigree.

    Peace to my LAGUCREW niccas.

  5. haha yeah I agree about DZA man, I just really liked that beat and honestly the highlight of that song is KRIT on the hook, 4loko conceptz. Actually now that I think about it every song I really like "by DZA" I actually just like for the beat or another rapper who's on it.

Every DZA album/mixtape should be called Strictly 4 My ...Guests (Swag)

  6. he's pretty boring compared to currensy or KRIT.

I like Rocky a lot but I think he's gonna get corny with the fashion shit. In that fools gold video he was chanting "margiela rick owens raf simons, that's good shoes" (or something similar).

Wearing rick and raf in a hoodish(lol) fit is cool and makes total sense for those brands, but making a sneaker song out of them is wack.

Couldn't agree w you more. He's a sign of the times... and no, as a native ny'er...you gotta be 15 years old if you talkin about lean around here. fuck outta here otherwise...

I kinda miss the days of dust...

  7. i def. don't see the allure in a cat like Smoke Dza... I always feel like h'e some older cat from Harlem trying to fit in and ride this younger generation's dirty south "swag wave" weedhead rapper shit. Leave it up to the good (sorta) newer southern cats... spitta, fiend, krit and 'em... shit I'll take ASAP Rocky over this guy... at least he can make catchy songs and less-gayly mention weird designer brands.

  8. I already talked with note about this and he disagreed, but I don't like hearing anyone else over these def jux beats. I love Huzzah though (I'd never heard that necro beat).

I really dislike that Maltese Falcon shit too. It's like a weak Ghost - Underwater. or a not weird enough Camp Lo song/story.

I like dude overall though, but I think there's a bunch of NY coming-of-age references that go over my head completely especially being that I grew up mostly overseas and then I was westcoast.

The production overall is really dope...and def. has some weird elements...not as dubbed out or spacey as Danny's XXX shit...but def. on some strange NY-i-grew-up-playing-video-games-and-doing-drugs shit.

I really liked the El shit...well esp. "Firemarshall Bill" and "Cockmeat Sandwich"... wild ppl have been talking about "Chicken Spot" but I would say that and the other Ox joint could have been better IMO, though "BuildABitch" does work in its somber tone and subject matter. The less nerdy, overtly weird, punchline'y you can sound over El's production, the better it works to me...that's why most of the Weathermen shit didn't move me. Exqo is clever and nice...plus has a grimey voice...so i find it very endearing over that type of futuristic production.

It also made me want to whip out Cold Vein again. Vordul was too ill.

"Maltese Falcon" grew on me...not my favorite joint though. But again, the beat(s) knocks pretty hard to me. I hear what you're saying about a less-effective Ghost (or even Doom) type pcp dream story.

The NY references are what grounds this, regionally. Sorta wraps it all up in a nice bow. Though I think the album (or his style) really isn't on some "throwback retro 90's rooted" shit...yet it's obvious that's the shit he really embraced when coming up (if that makes any sense). I guess it's the overall aesthetic. I don't see him in a tight box right now...unlike a few other really talented NYC cats...who we show love too as well...but are kind of seeming like they've hit their creative ceiling afteronly a year or so.

  9. Sup with dat Rocky + Spaceghostpurrp + Juicy J doe

    moar fashun namedropping

    crowd looks dead

    i hate that shit

lol @ dude who stagedived..dude flew like raiden

    (moshpit i guess)

Crowd wasn't actually so dead to begin with. But they died out cause Juicy J only rapped over his vocal tracks and was so fucked up he did the same song three times through out his set. I was walking out once these youngins got on stage. No hate though...ASAP is well...being true to the young cat that he is coming up in this day and age...and SpaceGhost is just on some druggy can't speak a lick of english shit...but at least it ain't some pussysoft Wiz Mickey Factz Theosyphilis Weezy shit. Although it IS a watered down cantrreallyrap version of old Triple 6 Mafia (back when they were on 4-tracks and calling themselves "triple six" instead of "three six").

But seriously, that shit was pretty terrible for me to witness as a huge fan of the OG 3-6 shit...J should've known better. Rappin' over your vocals to be your own hypeman is corny...all of you younger cats who see ONLY this when you go to a show should take note and start lobbing bottles of piss at whoever is doing that (unless it's some single-shot BRAND NEW shit...but c'mon bee).

Danny was gettin' boo'ed for some odd reason... and it's like...wait you're here to see who else? Danny was the only cat that day who could really really rap whilst maintaining relevance. some younger faggots in the crowd got pissy when he did "Bruiser Brigade"....I guess they didn't "get it"... maybe they were there for Araabmusik.............

    ..................................................

  10. what rap blogs do you guys fuck with?

and then I read www.purpletapepedigree.com for my NY shit. notesee on there sometimes.

yeah Note is def. on there...as he's my copilot. I started that shit in early '09 and it's been a good run so far. We got a radio show starting this week via bboxradio.com (sorta like Brooklyn's answer to East Village Radio)... Fresh Out The Box. We'll be doing a couple of archive only eps until the station goes on-air in like 3 weeks. Shit's bout to start really poppin', thun.

We've also been on our funk and soul shit on EVR's Forty Deuce . Some real heads up on that shit.

  11. Doing better than ever my dude I hope you are too. The site is nice and I'll keep checking it. Plus that Wu Block is bananas.

Good looks fams. Yeah things are good...we are workin on the radio show to go along with the site right now...got some good words on our submission...so def. be on the look out.

ANd yeah Nesk...that's my child...but Note has been with me on the mission since a year ago (pause?).
