  1. Usually raw denim still shrinks until after maybe 10 washes, but in smaller increments. I have the "original hem" done only on my washed jeans. But they have already been washed when I bought them and I washed them like 20 times after that. They don't really warp anymore and are pretty unoticable. I guess if you're afraid of them getting messed up just don't wash in water, just dry clean them. Or iron them afterwards with a lot of starch if you want to do a soak. Either way it'll be months before you make that decision, being that you'll need a lot of time to break them in. So, my suggestion would be to just enjoy them.

  2. If it's raw, I suspect it will shrink real funky. Can you take off the stitching yourself? Also, is it long enough where tailor cut it, to fold a cuff without being too short? You need about an inch to have nice hem. So whatever your inseam is, just add an inch to have a correct measurement. Also since they are raw Samurai's they will shrink around 2-3 inches, so you have to add more to that. If you bought them at BiG, they will do them for free. They do quite a nice job, and they have an official vintage Union Special chain-stitch machine. If you didn't buy from them, you have to ask them how much they charge, although I don't think they provide this service. 45RPM does it for 20$ and they also do an excellent job.

  3. Raw Denim vs. Washed. Raw and washed denim has flip flopped their popularity in the last 20 years. Although raw has never gotten as popular as washed, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most people hate the indigo stains and the shrinkage issues. All that means is that every clothing company will offer a pair of raw selvedged jeans. But that doesn't mean that it will automatically sell well. I still would get a pair from a Japanese company, RRL etc, before I cop one from Quicksilver. Maybe they will lower the price…

  4. If you're in the NYC area, they got a store in SOHO. It's all denim gallery and you should check it out. I mean its really more worth it if you can touch it and try it on. It's pretty cool stuff, so I think that its okay to buy it at 50% off. But I don't think jeans should be priced so freaking high. But then you are paying for quality of construction, fabric, details etc. A 20$ pair of jeans is night and day compared to something from Diesel Denim gallery.

  5. ask for an opinion and you'll get 100 more than you asked for...Let me try to be as neutral and specific and constructive as I can -- At 5'9" 155lbs, you are perfectly normal as far as statistics and health is concerned (BMI of 23). However those are mere numbers. What matters is how those numbers are distributed. The shape and girth of your hips and length of your legs DO NOT fit those jeans. Now I know new jeans are supposed to stretch out and settle down to your body shape but I dont think these will go in the right direction. The tight hips will only expand them in that area, it won't change the fact that you don't have the slim waist and butt and having a looser fit in the hips after a few weeks of wear isn't going to change the lines of your silhouette. Your calves do not look too thick so I doubt there will be that much stretch there to even out the stretch in your hips. In a few weeks I'd be worried that they don't look more tapered with your hips stretched out but your inseam unchanged. I would definitely try to exchange them for a larger size. Look for jeans that are straightleg at best, no tapered jeans for you or risk looking even shorter.

I agree with shinobi. I am 'bout 5'9" too, but waaaay fatter than you, and I always go for a looser fit. Looks better and feels better too, IMO. Rise also looks a bit low, so maybe going for a higher rise can help too.

  6. Hello Colelawyum,

sorry we're still working on the site/archive, but if you see something there you like use the link on the main page, or if you let me know where you live I'll let you know if there is a stockest in your area

    thanks

    Neil

Hello Neil, I'm usually based in the US/NYC area. Thanks!

  7. i feel like there are a few of these threads. about jeans for guys with no ass. but the real question beckons, what jeans do you buy for a dude with a gigantic ass?

I agree. Where's the love for all the fat dudes? I think that jeans with a taller rise and without a cinch waist probably fit a large ass a little better. I actually have a fat ass, and I think Sugar Canes fit me the best. And RRL have some fat guy sizes.

  8. Hey Miz, you can rock the indy's with the bk's. But it all depends on the belt and the top. Don't rock a black belt, thats for sure. You can rock a brown belt or any hue close to the aldens. Maybe you can rock a light colored top that stays in the earth tone family, like a cream or wine. These are all suggestions, of course. You might want to rock a purple sweater with a red polk-dotted tie for all I know.

  9. Looks like someone took a bunch of details from different vintage jeans and threw them up on one jean. Looks a bit Frankenstein, but from the pics, the fabric looks nice. I would opt for the simpler one, so you don't look like you're trying too hard. The selvedge on the inside seam is plain weird.
