  1. Samurai is next on line

Maybe not. I mean most of their cuts are based on repros, and they don't use loud colors. Also the tops are crazy small. The only mistake I think Evisu did was license their property to all these wack companys that shat on the brand. But unfortunately, money talks.

I have to admit though, when I saw the picture of Jay-Z wearing them, my heart kinda sank. Doubt it will catch on, unless Samurai gets greedy too.

  2. i cringe when i hear that.

it is possible. but so is nuclear holocaust.

washing is part of the life cycle of jeans.

i love seeing how jeans evolve with washes.

why someone would want to miss out on that...

    i dunno.

like killing a puppy because they don't want to see it mature.

or slitting the throat of a choking child throat to remove a piece of errant apple.

Weird analogies, but I see your point. But I find it hard to find a date if I smell.

  3. You might want to read up on the history of American work wear, and denim. There's good stuff on vintage repros out there. You could also look up traditional Japanese hand dyeing techniques. You'll see why people say your jeans are wack.

  4. Im not really sure about that. I'm a size 34 in everything. Including Evisu No1... I'd say go with your normal size.

Actually, you might be right. I think they size up from label size when it comes to the STF. Although every Evisu pair I got reacted differently. I had a No.1 Special that said size 40 but shrank down to a 37.5 with a cold soak.

    ps. Thanks TIP.

  5. I got a pretty impressive gut myself. I was pretty depressed that I couldn't fit into a lot of stuff I like. I too was wearing ugly ass sean john jeans, till I discovered RRL! Since they have such wacky sizing, I bought some 40's that ended up being like a 43. They have a great selection and a great variety of cuts. Also, the price range is pretty diverse too. I also have a dry selvedge Baggy Bjorn, size 40, thats actually a 41. My Fullcount 1108 is a size 40 but stretched an extra inch. I believe Denime makes a 40. Sometimes even a 42. They probably have the largest selection of fits for Japanese denim. Sugarcane also makes up to a 40, plus, they are sized up with their STF models. I was at a couple of Evisu stores in Osaka, a few years back, and they even carried up to a 46 for some models.

So fear not, there are choices for men who live large.

Sorry for the large jpg. I scanned this from the 2003 Evisu style book, to give you an idea of the different fits and cuts. I think that the 2001 and 2002 are the baggiest fits. The 2000 and 2005 are slim leg fits.

  7. Hello Edmond. There are numerous posts on Evisu sizing, so all you need to do is use the search function. But in a nutshell, Number 0 and 1 is shrink to fit, so size up 2x. Number 2 and 3 are sanforized, so get your actual waist. Not sure about licencsees.

  8. Well, since "Jap" was and still is used as derogatory for Japanese people, IMO, I would try and stay away from words like that. Sure, your intention is not to hurt anyone. And you may be describing something of high quality. But for a lot of people hearing that world still is painful and disturbing. It's a similar argument to the word "negro." To some people, it means black. But, again, a lot people find that word offensive, due to the fact that it's the root of that other controversial word.

Even if one person finds the word Jap offensive, then I won't bother to use it. I mean, like peteyross says, how hard is it to say Japanese denim?

  9. Saw those on a website. Interested to see how they look with jeans.

Digital, it actually looks like regular cap toes if your jeans are long enough. But you can also rock em hiked up like the last pic, if you really want to show them off. Please excuse the baggy jeans.
