Charlie Delta

As far as I know, Rising Sun & Co is the brainchild of Mike Hodis (formerly involved with Lucky Brand, but more interestingly, designer of some of the nicest Cone sample collection stuff I've seen).

All of the denim is produced in-house in the "haberdashery" in their Pasadena store.

That store opened June last year so I'm guessing that could be marked in a way as the "start" of the brand...

Mr Hodis is known to really know what's up when it comes to denim and vintage in general, and what product I've seen and handled from Rising Sun & Co. so far really impressed me.

It looked totally original and unique to me (ie. no straight up reproes) while still managing to maintain that distinct "clothing from the golden age of workmanship" look...

Especially the jeans and duck workpants I saw at Burg & Schild really impressed me.

I'll see if I can find out more.

It's currently being presented in Tokyo at the Sugar Cane/Toyo FW09 exhibition.

Kiya stocks MFSC and got a preview and Edmond obviously has an "in" of some sorts.

Just be patient, some things are just not to be spoiled yet. The SS09 stuff has barely been out yet.

My raw Large, shrunken in the tub with the hottest water from the tap and line dried.

Post soak and wearing if for about 1,5 months:

Chest: 41

Vertical lenght: 24.5

Shoulder width: 17

So, apart from the chest which has probably just given an inch after wearing it over several layers, button holes stretching a bit etc, the measurements are exactly like the raw Medium measurements on Self Edge.com.

So once again, it seems that in any of Mister Freedom's items for post soak measurements look at the raw measurements of one size down!

Post soak XL measures like a Raw L

Post soak L measures like a Raw M

Etc...

You could also get a Raw large and only briefly soak it, to get it to shrink down some but not fully. Since it's not an item that you'll be washing a lot later on. You can also decide to only handwash it cold from then on or something.

The good thing with unsanforized denim is that you have shrinkage somewhat in hand.

Remember that it is a vest and it also depends on how you wish to wear it, over how many layers, perhaps also to be able to pop it under something else every once in a while.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Look at the measurements for a raw Medium, it should shrink down to about that.
