  1. There seems to be so many fakes on ebay... usually the price is a giveaway...

HO16 collection up on nike: http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/pw/mens-gyakusou/7puZnm9

I was getting quite 'excited' when I saw the video, it was almost like GIRA of old, especially after that diabolical Rio capsule collection.

Love the "bronzine" c/w (very autumnal leaves falling on a crisp November morning, blue sky, bright low sun shining through the trees) although a shame it didn't make its way to standard shorts.

I also like the use of the chevron/tooth pattern from UC...

However, where are basic long sleeve running tops? Why does the only running tee have a massive logo on the front with GYAKUSOU CREW on it?

I hope there's more basics than this...

  4. I love Nike but god, why do they have to treat their customers like retards? That latest video sums it up, the one on the Pegasus with Mark Miner the designer and Mo Farah. Firstly, i do not believe Farah ever trains in Pegasus, plus he doesn't even have a neutral gait, so that sort of rules out the shoe.

Secondly, Mark Miner, Pratt/Parsons design grad... DKNY or Michael Kors (I forget), adidas and now Nike. Am I the only person who does not trust a guy who looks like he has never ran to catch a bus? Yes, I am judging a book by it's cover, but are New Balance, Mizuno, Asics, Brooks, Saucony employing people who design their shoes from design school, or someone with an academic background in human biomechanics, foot physiology taht kind of thing?

  5. Just caught up reading this thread and feel like contributing.

    INJURIES

Sorry to hear about knees and hips to those concerned. Whilst I am injury free at the moment the feeling (as in a sensation that something is perhaps awry, not in any sharp, or inflamed kind of pain) in my left knee is making me wonder what health said joints are in.

Which lead me to reading http://barefootrunning.fas.harvard.edu/ learning that barefoot running with the emphasis on fore/mid striking (which I would like to think I already do strike midfoot) puts less force running to your knee got me shoe hunting to focus on heel landing avoidance. Bringing me to...

    FOOTWEAR

My Zoom Elite 5s have clocked around 700 km in them so I ended up copping the Free 4.0s. Dismissed the 5s as the heel drop matched the ZEs and dismissed the 3s as the upper a bit flimsy, with no real difference underfoot with the heel drop vs the 4.0s.

First impressions were that they were firm, and I wouldn't want to race in them as I like a bit of softness underfoot, although the lightness made the ZE heavy (<3 oz lighter iirc). 6mm heel drop was interesting, and combined with firmer sole makes you less likely to heel strike for sure.

First sub 10 km were fine, first 12 km left my calves aching for days, first 16 km for even longer. Racked up 87km now in them and don't really get any calf DOMS at these distances. Also feel comfortable running at top speed on concrete in them too (was wary at first). However have noticed that small parts of the sole is coming awy from the upper at the heel. Have tweeted Nike about this, they are just so shit post sales. "Call us to 'discuss options'". Surely there are no options? They're faulty end of. Second time they've just acted like twats with me.

Running back in ZE5s makes me think 9mm heel drop is neither use nor ornament combined with the weight and the firmer sole compared to the Pegasus.

Ran recently in my old Asics Cumulus 11s. Whilst 'big units' it was enjoyable, I am having a serious rethink of what I want my go to shoe to now be.

Anyone got the Pegasus 30? I'm very tempted, even if I am begging to think Nike's quality is just shit, and their after sales even shitter.

  7. Getting training going again, for Utah Valley Marathon this time, so I just uploaded everything for the past month, which has been quite light, up until a few days ago. Looking for sub-2:46, I think (we'll see how I feel about training right before the race). I'm already pretty fit (just ran 2:50:00 with a bad cold in early March), so I have 8 weeks to fine-tune things and run a lot of miles before tapering. Should be good timing. After 4 days, I'm on track for a good 80 this week and am hoping for 6 of the remaining 7 weeks to be at least 80, maybe with one backed down to around 70 halfway through.

How long did it take you to get to a position where you're running sub 4 minute KMs over that kind of distance?

  8. Good video for dynamic stretching:

Told you he's a geezer. Youtube has a lot of good shit on it imo, like videos on form etc. Chi Running is quite interesting one too, I never practiced 'falling over' from my ankles forwards before I heard of that.

  9. Things that entered my head about this thread in the last 15 minutes:

    • TRUMOO milk looks the fucking bomb, France's milk game is shit, they just love UHT here, fresh dairy is for cheese, cream, and desserts, not flavoured milks sold by the 'quart' (what actually is a 'quart' apart from being American for 'big', 2 L?). I guess back home cans of Nourishment/Nurishment (Dunn's River iirc) is the equivalent. Yes, a can of milk. Ring pull opening. Like the same as a dog food can. Tastes metallic.
    • SIRA (well seems to be the moniker that's sticking, although i do love a good acronym, especially if it is self-deprecating; i've been trying to think of a word beginning with 'H' for S.H.I.T. Superfuture H... International Team. Baroque brown c/w?
    • Logo placement should never be in the central chest region (a la SS13, its wack)
    • 3M iron on would be pretty sweet.
    • Design to be a blatant rip off (read 'homage') to GIRA, preferably with even longer words than GyakusouInterationalRunningAssociation, kind of like when you see knock offs when you're on holiday. Playful.

Will try and upload a photo of the start (or end) of a run. Only need the one as I ain't snapping shit midway.

    That is all.

  10. going to try to get more days in for repeats. my running schedule and locations are pretty packed and set in stone as it is, so i probably won't be able to do it once a week unfortunately.

going downhill too fast can be bad news though. maybe not as bad on dirt trails but i really screwed up my knee for a while from the impact of taking a downhill section too fast on asphalt. was my first running related injury. for months after that i couldn't run more than 3 miles without a debilitating sharp pain coming into the joint and forcing me to stop. i've always taken downhill sections pretty gingerly ever since.

Do you zigzag when you're running downhill? I read this is the best thing to do, i fked the top of my leg on a my third downhill during hill climb training... took me out for 8-9 weeks. Finally getting back into it, although it's arduous, it doesn't feel like a relaxing jaunt around the streets of Paris.

Good work for hte people doing marathons, i have decided against doing any; 2 physios i've heard from now have said they're not good for your body. 10km and half marathons are fine for me.

  11. I may have to try actually running using Endo one of these days just to try the Peptalk feature.

Does one have to go to the Premium account to track interval training? It seems like all the apps care about is pace which is misleading in many of the runs we do. Pace is not everything.

What is this peptalk feature you speak of? Its not like that embarrassing nike+ thing where at the end of your run you get paula radcliffe going "give yourself a big well done because you were great out there". Urgh. Spare me.

Agree about pace not being everything, if you're doing hillwork or fartleks then pace isnt going to be true.

Unless I get caught at traffic lights then I'll try and avoid pausing workout on the app.

Oh and for Jack, apparently i just have inflammation, had 5 mins of tissue massage, 5 mins of some laser and 20 mins of some electro magnet. 40 euros. Interestingly he said dotn apply heat, stick with ice and stretches. Couldnt give me an end date too which was somewhat irksome. CSB yes I know, but if anyone else ever has same problems might be useful.
