  1. all the girl's plaid shit is really nice, i like the dresses and some of the coats too. also like the shoes on the girls and well, the girls themselves are nice too.

for the guy's stuff I like the peacoat, the charcoal wool suit, the corduroy suit, and the plaid hoodie..

  2. I have not heard that particular speaker before, but reading that it is a bamboo laminate , 87db efficient and rear ported (a problem if you plan on having these near the wall).. I don't know if I would personally get them for $848 for the pair.. I'd personally rather throw another $150 at it and get these:

  3. Although I agree that the prices are WAY out there, I think a lot of it has to do with how the Euro and the Dollar are doing. Here in L.A. whenever they have their sale, I can pretty much get every single piece I wanted from the season. That really isn't much because I only go and buy about 3 or 4 pieces, but I always know I'm going to get what I want. Their 50% off the entire collection type of thing is really cool, and I HATE the way the button up shirts fit, they are either too wide on the torso or too narrow on the shoulders.. I just size up and wash it and it fits great.. I want some of their derbies (specifically last year's derbies) but the price, I agree, is a little much.

  4. I don't get it dismalfuture, so are you shitting on APC for the look and the quality or because nothing that you like makes it to sale anymore? I don't really have an opinion on the APC shit I'm just saying.. your argument seems like its all over the place.

  5. It's fucking April 77, they're not going to be re-inventing the wheel.

Here, let me lay out next season for you: super skinny pants, a pair of slightly looser dress pants, vintage-styled polos and jackets + a few pieces of outerwear and styling based on some sub-genre of primarily guitar-driven music / a particular musician.

In fact, you may be surprised to hear that's what they've done every season.

However, I won't disagree with the "cheap" comment. Again, though, it's April 77. I'm not sure what sort of quality you're expecting.

I actually retract my "cheap" comment after viewing this on a better monitor. I'm expecting the same April77 quality I've seen on their other collections, this one looked cheap in comparison to that, but now after seeing it on a better monitor, it looks on par with the other shit they've put out in the past. That being said, I like the second jacket, the frames, and the haircut..

  6. baxter is dope for face products but i don't use the shampoo anymore.. it gave me mad dandruff after 1 use. i kept using it just to give it a few more tries before convincing myself to stop and it just got worse so i put it away..

  7. I thought of that, too^^ and I also thought of the line in one of his songs "Pete what I love most about you.. is your girlfriend and your shoes"

To make this thread more relevant... does anyone know where I can get some Spring Court shoes for cheap? I need some white lows and some black lows..

  8. I linked you to a brand new pair that sold on ebay for $1350 for the pair though.. If you sell your current speakers you'll only need to come up with another $1000..

Haha I realize its still a lot, but its such a tremendous value, I wouldn't turn it down if I had the cash... besides, this thread is about Hi-Fi right?

Well, the Paradigm Reference Studio/20 are probably the best speakers under $1000/pair you can get, I'd say go to a local dealer and check those out.. I think they might be right up your alley. Just make sure you put them on stands as they are rear ported so they wouldn't sound that great on a bookshelf up against a wall..

  9. I have the following satellite/sub combo:

    Gallo Nucleus & TR-1 sub:

    25syf0h.jpgv8n6ty.jpg

    Satellites:

    120Hz to 18KHz

    100 watts

    8 ohms

    89 dB

    Sub:

    22Hz to 180Hz

    100 watts

    8 ohms 89 dB

I know its fairly subjective, but I'm curious about what people think about sub/sat. combos for music. I'd love to get a great pair of speakers, but space is a concern for me, and I already own these and use them with my HT setup.

    Opinions?

Gimmie, I've never heard those speakers before so I can't comment on them.. but I do know that satellites and a sub can sound very very good, its just that subwoofer placement becomes very critical because your subwoofer is handling a lot of the mid-bass and deep bass duties, taking toll for all the ineffencies found in most satellite speakers. The subwoofer's output at those low frequencies will affect the way all the other frequencies from the satellite speakers are heard..

If space is a concern, again, I'd recommend selling these off and buying a pair of Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand speakers. They are only 6.5" wide so they have a very tiny footprint, and they put out pound for pound the absolute best sound for the money (imho). These are imho one of the best speaker for the size for the money.

Here is a link to some info on them:

and here is a review of them from a reputable company:

here is a link to a pair that just sold on ebay:

With these speakers, you don't need a subwoofer at all, but if you wanted to get one later on, I'd throw in a REL acoustic sub-bass system. These subwoofers do not provide the typical thumping, room rattling "bass" you are used to, thats why REL does not refer to them as subwoofers but "acoustic sub-bass" systems.. It is implied when you buy a REL that the speakers you are setting it up with are already full-range speakers that reach down to the 30-20hz level, which is why I'd pair one with a Mozart. The REL systems do not use a typical RCA Subwoofer Interconnect, instead they use a Neutrik Speakon plug pin (looks kind of like a fat mic input) that passes the entire frequency response from the amp to the REL unit, so that it can perfectly match and sing along with your speakers. These are amazing for music and movies.. and are usually only 10x10x10. These things are TINY.

    Here's a link to REL's stuff: http://sumikoaudio.net/rel/index.htm

Again, these are just my recommendations based on space, sound quality, and dollars spent. Really, once you hear VA Mozart Grands with a REL sub, there's no going back. Seriously, there is nothing like it.

Read up on them and let me know what you think..

  10. nordost interconnects? that must have burned a whole in your wallet man..

sonus faber are probably my favorite... which models are you looking at?

also, i really gotta say, the vienna acoustics hayden grand is probably the best bookshelf speaker for the money that i've ever heard..

gimmiegimmie, if you want great gear at a discounted price, audiogon.com is a good place to start..

  11. i dont understand the appeal of apc. to me, it's gap with quirks and only slightly better cuts. throw it on coca rocha, multiply the price by 7, and you've got pretty much the same shit on the website.

    (imo)

slightly better cuts, slighty better fabrics, more exclusive, great denim for the price. thats it.

  12. I wanted that lambskin one so bad, and I'd spring the extra money for it.. but its not part of the sale, so I'm not copping. But man, that is the softest leather I've ever felt. I can totally justify the retail price of the backpack but cannot justify spending that much because I don't think I will be putting it to use for more than 2 years..

If you guys can point me in the direction of something similar to it for less than $100, I'll +rep you for the rest of the semester...

  13. Damn, now that I look at those measurements.. you are right these things are huge. Is there anything else out there that is more for every day use?

Im going to get a sleeve for the laptop, but I still want something that is going to look nice. If someone can link me to a Jansport with a real leather bottom (not the suede shit) then I'll cop that, or anything else that just has a very classic and basic look to it.

  14. Holy shit those Molle ones are serious pieces. I was already looking at the one you posted notesee, but in black. That model looks perfect but does it have a space/sleeve for a laptop or is my macbook going to be flying around in there?
