lol cordovan would be immediately over 100k yen without a doubt
and soxfan, i would say the canvas logan los are not worth it. i know its all about hidden functionality or whatever but you can buy so many pairs of vans authentics for those.
patrician folk is still the only shoe that stands out to me. maybe its just cause the SAs at FIL looked so steezy. otherwise, id just buy some alden/c+j/churchs/trickers for the price of captoes. at least then theyll have replaceable soles and goodyear construction.

saw a lot of the new drop in person at isetan today. none of the shoes stand out except for the patricians. those are pretty dope and impressive.
the plaid swingtop goretex was kinda cool too.

Agreed, in addition to the fact there are more and more joint ventures between Chinese and Japanese companies which combines the best of both worlds.
cosign.
however, the profit margins must still be obscenely big compared to making their shoes in visvim's homeland of japan or even korea.
considering how much they talk about their worldwide sourcing of the best materials, its just surprising for many to see them manufacturing in china. especially while their prices move up every season. maybe the material cost have to be offset by the manufacturing?
compare them to nom de guerre, who despite moving production to japan, have proposed a distribution solution to lower their prices this upcoming season.

those must be some niiice profit margins

not to mention why is there a duffle for spring?

ppl generally have a problem with these collabos cause they make hiroki the designer into one big hypocrite.
but then again, if you bought into his 'no marketing' marketing scheme in the first place, you are bound to be disappointed.

oops my bad didnt see the last page.
as far as im concerned, who cares if they put some rhinestones on those shoes. its not like they were great to begin with.

I think if you get sick of these things happening with clothes your only option is wear head to toe Patagonia and Arcteryx, and wear Tevas.
Patagonia and Arcteryx jackets don't cost $2k+. I know theres always going to be product that slips through the QC process, its an inevitable part of the product yield. But that doesn't mean consumers should just accept it and keep paying these prices. If the leather and zips lead to problems, shouldnt that be addressed in the design?

visvim craftsmanship isnt exactly the best in the world. there has been various reports of simple basic things failing (ie buttons falling off $2k jkts, etc).

maybe its just me, but i never really associated designer brands with long lasting craftsmanship. their whole business model is built on perpetual change and disposable (even if theyd never admit it) clothes.
i actually expected more out of jcrew than rick owens
