thanks for your help guys, your knowledge is outstanding.
don't know what i will do with them. maybe i will use them as a pattern to make some new workpants. i would like to determine an approximate age though. when i get them, i will definitely post some detailed pictures. should get them by monday.

yeah, i guess you're right. especially about boots. if breaking in can be avoided by proper sizing, that's always preferable. a lot of times, it's just not possible, though--everybody's feet are different.

in japan, they are called ƒˆƒRÆ’XÆ’JÆ’Wƒƒƒ“ƒpÂ[ or yokosuka jumper or "sukajan."

ringring,
how does 45 rpm and chimala get that wrinkled effect on their jeans? is it possible to get that effect from "regular" jeans?

if the leather is going into your heel, it's because they don't fit properly. shoes are not supposed to be "worn in." they should fit from the beginning.
go to a shoe repair store and get some high quality shoe heel inserts. this will fix your problem and will add some comfort. also, it is not that expensive.

il padrino, we know what you are talking about. they sell those in japan. it's not a chinese thing. they don't sell those in chinatown. they sell bootleg gucci bags and sean john in chinatown.

are you frickin' serious? pre 1891? paul t, what's your guestimate?Quote:Good points Paul T!!... The one back pocket does indicate that they should be quite old...Levi's didnt introduce back pockets until 1901...most other workware makers followed suit within the next 5-10 years.......and the fact that they have no descerning tags or other obvious pieces of identification could very well mean that they were created pre-1891...so that they could not be identified as infringing on Levis copyright.....good thinkin man!

btw, i'm not being age-ist. hell, i regret some of the things i've worn a few years ago--and i'm old(er)!

thorns, i think it's safe to say that many of the young people today will grow up and regret some of the things they are wearing now. i'm not going to mention particular items, but i think you could probably use your imagination.Quote:This whole thing is hilarious I think. God I hope I wasn't that ridiculous when I was a teenager. "Livin the life" ... "reppin" I don't even know what that means?! I can't wait for you kids to look back in ten years and roll your eyes. I most particularly don't understand the anger involved... just kids be kids. Its just like looking back on the 70's and 80's and realizing how absurd the bellbottoms and big hair was.

sybaritical - two pairs of uniqlo? you wouldn't want to part with one of them, right?
oh, and i have bunch of jeans but only a couple which i like.
Sugarcane 1947s
Uniqlo Vintage Wash
Guess Hermosa's
Rustler Rigid Regular-Fit
Levi's Lot 53 Selvage (i don't wear these anymore but i guess these would be my first selvage jeans!)
2 Levi's 501 Redlines
Very Old Vintage Workpants (coming soon, via cheap mofo)
Oh, and the pair that I made (more on the way!)
various other jeans that i don't wear anymore--a few nautica (which aren't too bad), old ralph lauren (nice quality), pelle pelle (yes, pelle pelle)
