  1. I've heard so many people with that complaint, but I purchased my regular size (36) and they fit fine and I grabbed another pair (in 35 for a tighter fit) which also fit exactly as I expected. On the other hand, almost every pair of japanese jeans I've tried on (thinking warehouse, samurai and PBJ in particular, the stuff I tried on at BiG) has a way-too-small-waist compared to the rest of the cut. Most of the time they are all super baggy in the thighs and legs and fit in the waist or unbearably unbuttonably tight in the waist and just right everywhere else. I was so sad trying on the samurais in BiG because not one of them fit even remotely.

  2. Wow looks like I answered my own question:

    http://www.ironheart.co.uk/html/qanda.htm

"Q What shrinkage can I expect?

A With heavy washing the selvedge jeans will shrink about a ½ inch in the waist, and approx ½ inch in the leg. The non selvedge jeans and jackets will not shrink any further than they have before delivery"

So it looks like no need for pre-wash and I can get them hemmed as is. Do you think BiG will chainstitch-hem jeans that were not purchased at their store?

  3. I just nabbed a pair of these from 2000db (props!) and was wondering if anyone had shrinkage info? My pair is tight except that the inseam is too long so I want to know if it's worth risking further general tightness by washing to get the shorter hems. Didnt see any specific numbers in prior posts... Any help appreciated.

  4. i think the fat ass outer seam selvedge looks dope....

i did this to a pair of my jeans.

Technically that's not selvage, just a bunch of orange cross-stitching. ;)

I saw a guy in NYC who did this to his zathan 772 a long time ago and I thought they looked goofy but they look pretty nice on you. In general though diesel tends to reuse some of their washes (772 is a "dna" wash so they'll probably never get rid of it) so if you wanted a straight-leg version you probably could have purchased a brand new jean in that same wash that was straight to begin with. 772 zathans also tend to keep resale value really nicely:

Those all sold for near or at the original retail price. :)

  5. I'm looking for some raw slim bootcut (these are the true straightleg IIRC) RRLs, the newer the better, and unwashed is a must. As for sizing, it really depends on the generation, so anything that will fit a true 32/33 waist after a bit of stretching. I'd also like an inseam measurement longer than 32 inches. Make me an offer!

Try ebay - FULL of them

  6. If they are too small... u could always size up

I got a 36 - biggest size they come in. It was SO close too like a little more room in the hips and waist and it would have worked but as is I couldnt do up any of the buttons.

The 004s are the bootcut ones right? The largest size gordon has in stock rite now is like 29 or something so no go there either. He's going to check up on some samurai bootcuts for me and he said he's expecting like 300 pairs of jeans to come in over the next 2 weeks so he's going to hold some big sizes for me...

  7. So I went to BiG today to try on my pair and they didnt fit (too small) which is a SHAME cuz I love the cut. So now I have $237 plus tax in store credit. The owner said he's getting in more samurai bootcuts so I may try one of those. It would SUCK if I ended up not being able to buy anything in there - I tried on like 7 different jeans and either the fit sucked or they were too small :(

  8. It costs a lot to ship from the U.S. to the UK. If you want tracking, it will be atleast $50. If you don't want tracking it usually runs around $25 or so.

Depends on how you ship - a lot of companies use UPS/Fedex/DHL which CAN be a lot, but the regular US postal service will only cost about $25 or so to ship to the UK via Global Express Mail, which is insured up to $100 and fully trackable on both sides of the pond. Even if they buy another $300 worth of insurance, that's only gonna cost another few bucks so $50 is def on the high end.

  9. This forum has, I suspect, a VERY small proportion of women in it. :)

That said, you're going to get a LOT of different answers cuz womens bodies are all mad different. At any rate a lot of women are going to swear by brands that people in here pooh-pooh like true religion and seven and stuff

  10. they are going to have four fits and about 6 washes per fit. they are using denim from japan and it will all be done here in the states. i will get all the technical info as we get closer including a manual that explains everything that will be done to the jeans. it is going to be amazing.

    What's your store?

These are not different from the ones on ebay just the ones on ebay are old stock. If you get them NWT you'll see MRSPs of about $180-250 each but they generally go for WAY less on ebay

  11. ^ i've seen a pair of the indigo pbjs at the pbj store in person, where one of the staff wore them for an entire year without ever washing them. i'm sure there was a lot of fabreeze involved in the process, but man, the denim looked unbelievable. almost vintage-like. that's a serious commitment, because you have to pretty much plan on never washing the denim, unless you don't mind a little shrinkage later on.

I dont think it was worn by a staff member - the japanese guy I spoke to their didnt know what the guy did but we both agreed he must have been a carpenter or something to get that much wear in a year. But they do look pretty dope
