  1. I said some stuff on the previous page re the stretching on my pair. They have stretched an inch, but I don't think they would stretch much more.

But maybe if you wanna be all hardcore, and soak the waistband and wear them damp to stretch them out more, or something like that, then they might stretch a whole two inches. I couldn't tell you definitively though, sorry :(

  2. CinSun - I am pretty certain Momotaro only sells the GTWP0307 in a one-wash, so I'm thinking in the BiG site is just a typo. The measurements they give look about right (for the 30s that I have at least...).

Update on my jeans - not much to tell, sorry. it's been hot here (Australia), and these havent gotten a lot of wear in the last two weeks. A lighter blue colour is starting to show around the stress points (keys and phone, etc). Nothing much at all around the knees. These are incredibly sturdy jeans, they will take a bit of wearing I think...

  3. yeah they fit pretty much the same as above. I'm pretty busy atm (not busy enough to stop checking sf, but busy enough to not be bothered with taking and uploading pictures to the net), but I might be able to post a couple of fit pics sometime this week.

  4. I have 30 in dukes (old leather tag, larger pockets), and 30 in Momotaro was the right size. Might have been able to squeeze into 29, but didnt try so not sure.

I would probably recommend 29, but 28 might be ok if you are up for a bit of masochism. :)

  5. Umm... this is the model that I got:

    http://blueingreensoho.com/site/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=3654&category_id=&manufacturer_id=42&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=28

BIG says that it runs one size LARGER than tagged.

I think that is about right...I didn't measure them when I got them. But between .5 and 1 larger than tag seems about right. They stretch a bit, but not a huge amount, so be wary of that. They definitely do not stretch to sagging point in my experience. Good luck with them! Post fit and results!!

  6. OK haven't actually posted a confession here for a while, but I'm in the mood.

I confess I'm not always a good boyfriend.I know I get wrong, and can be a pain in the ass. I swear, I'm trying. But fuck, she doesn't make it easy sometimes.

  7. Yo opie

I will post some evo pics in maybe a month - I have been wearing them most days, but not a lot to show for it yet. Very faded at major stress points (back pocket rivets, middle of yoke). Screen-printed pocket has faded a little as well, which looks nice. It is only just starting to come through on the thighs etc though.

The have been slow so far, but I have the feeling they might speed up a bit in the next couple of months. Will keep y'all updated anyway.

    Peace

  8. I read somewhere that 180gr vinyl is supposed to reproduce more solid bass, which makes sense I guess (lower/slower vibrations will carry better/more smoothly through heavier vinyl).

But in my experience, yeah as stated above, the mastering and pressing is much more important. I have a 180gr copy of Curtis by Curtis Mayfield. Played it on a system with a $20,000 turntable and some beautiful old tannoys, and it sounded like shit because it was a crappy master.

  9. I know its important to be patient whilst building a hi-fi system (if you're po' like me), but as soon as I get something new, all I can think of is how great it is BUT how much better it would be when I finally replace ______ with ________. I'm neurotic.

hah, before you know it, you'll have been through 2 turntables, 3 cartridges, 2 poweramps, 4 preamps, 4 sets of speaker wire (copper, silver, platinum, then copper again) and 3 different power management systems.

the path to the 'perfect system' (a destination that will never truly be reached, of course) is a dangerously expensive one. :)

On the 'crappy systems' note, I never really figured out why manufacturers bothered to make those $700 valve preamps for ipods. !!?! I guess consumers really are stupid.

    Also - 500th post. W00t.

  10. ^ ^ ^ I can dig that. Unfortunately my budget doesn't extend beyond Ikea these days (and probably won't for a while, after the trip I just took!).

One thing you can do to make the Ikea stuff look nicer is buy the raw 'wood' (read chip-board) finish, and paint over it yourself. You can even add a layer of wax afterwards iof you want. Makes it look a little less crap :)

I kinda dug the Boltz ones though (from your link above Kiya). And not ridoinkulously expensive either.

  11. yeah I remember not having a clue when I set up my first turntable :)

but you figure it out pretty quick. most important things are probably to ensure the arm is at the right height and the right weight (both of which depend on the cartridge).

    enjoy your TT.

are you going to buy vinyl exclusively now? what's your plan?

  12. tyro1, that thai joint on victoria street is called Ying Thai. Yes, it is fucking good.

There is one on Lygon (inner East Brunswick area) that everyone raves about too called Thalia Thai. Havent been there yet myself, but it is a bit of an institution I think. Always packed when i ride the tram past at night.
