  1. About 14 months at two or three wears a week. Not wearing them super hard but not babying them either. Deadstock 1960s Frye boots. Minus a few popped stitches at the inside ankle these are wearing like iron. And some shots when new...

  4. Two sided "The Rats Hole" Custom Chopper Show '87 single stitch T shirt with bootleg Big Daddy Rat "Fink" on a MIUSA 50/50 Screen Stars medium. Perfect fit and fade, with amazing weird graphics, multiple fonts and a subject matter to make the strs nervous. And that back hit is so good. Perfect 10/10. No notes.
  5. Same old everything. The T shirt has one of those sparkly iron ons that were everywhere after Superman '78 came out. Jeans are nearing 4 months. Cut my hair the next day.
  6. A hot and sweaty 94°f /34°c last Saturday while exploring the Old Joliet Prison (Blues Brothers, Prison Break). Rag&Bone sunglasses Vintage Santa Fe Speedway Tee Painted belt 1990 501 Laredo beaters Vintage parasol (not an umbrella!)
  7. Paging @Dr_Heech July 12th, 2002, Chicago Illinois. I had just seen The White Stripes at Cabaret Metro in Chicago and I was high on life and I noticed some young punk out front was wearing a faded two sided vintage Scientifically Treated Petroleum t shirt. In 2002 The White Stripes had just began their meteoric rise to super stardom and I had just seen the greatest live rock and roll show of my life. The crowd was buzzing. We all knew we had just witnessed greatness. Seven Nation Army would come out the following year and for a brief time TWS would become the biggest band on the planet. And it would decades before Jack White would return to the Metro. Without hesitation I asked him how much he wanted for the t shirt. You see years earlier I had become enamored with the STP logo because my grandfather wore a quilted blue winter puffer coat that had some patches on it. Like many folks from his generation he kept everything until it was used and in tatters. This jacket was faded and dirty and I loved it. My grandma HATED it and that just made it more valuable to me. The punk kid said $5. I gave him a ten dollar bill. He took it right off his back and walked off. It became a reminder of that great night of music and it helped that STP was a nice abbreviation of STRIPES. (It also became the night I bounced my drunken best friend from the bar next door which led to him deciding to get sober but that's a different story.) Fast forward two decades and I found two NOS in mint condition on Velva Sheen tees for sale. They had lower quality transfers instead of the beautiful discharge print my OG had but the tees themselves were identical so obviously I couldn't pass them up. One has about a half dozen wears and the other is staying fresh for now. You can see the difference between the prints below: All three shirts together below. You can see how much the transfer on the newer shirt has degraded with just two washes. The OG shirt below. Those pit stains need attention and OXY. Paper thin And the newer shirt. All of the tees are printed on 60s/70s era Velva Sheen. Back print comparison

  10. "Ma Bell, got the ill communications Ma Bell, got the ill communications Ma Bell, got the ill communications" -The Beastie Boys Been after one of these for a minute. Scarce but not terribly rare MA BELL strike tee, 1971 In July of 1971 workers at Southern Bell (a part of AT&T) went on strike and countless t shirts, pins, flyers, patches etc were made in various designs. This would continue well into the 90s as workers kept pushing back against massive technological change. There would be later strikes (notably in 1983) so this tee could be a from a little more recent history but the single stitch sleeves and hem as well as the simple paper tag seem to confirm the early 70s. Just a reminder: fuck monopolistic greedy corporations and support your fellow worker. Class warfare is an ugly beast and we need more class unity. Too many working class folks are cheering for their own destruction these days.

  16. I have saved the best for last. Probably my favorite t shirt of all time. I only visited the local Santa Fe Speedway in Willow Springs only once or twice to watch the demolition derby before it closed down but those memories live large in my mind. Perfect graphics, faded but legible, on a super thin single stich 50/50 Made in USA Screen Stars tee. Every new find is judged against this one. Earlier this year I found a local making reprints on plain white so I grabbed one.
  17. My newest and a real banger imo. 1983 VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY "Dirt Racing" T Shirt Two sided, great lettering in multiple fonts, killer yet primitive graphics, splash of color on a perfectly faded paper thin. MIUSA single stitch CHED brand 50/50 tee.
  18. Another two sided beauty in my favorite non black color. Vintage 1970s "A bad Day at Lake Whippoorwill Speedway" T shirt. More lightly cracked ink, multiple fonts, simple graphics, and a clever tagline make this another perfect example of the race day tee. Tag is faded but it looks like maybe another Velva Sheen, probably size small and definitely 50/50 poly/cotton.
  19. GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES! It's Indy 500 weekend so I'm going to post some vintage motorsport tees. Two sided with a bonus sleeve hit? Puffy cracked print? Cool color, multiple fonts, and simple clean yet killer graphics with a date? Made in USA and single stitch? 10 out 10. Jerzees by Russel brand 50/50 poly/cotton 1990 "12 Hours of Sebring/ Triangle Lounge Package Store" tee, USA, Large
  20. GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES! It's INDY 500 race day so here are a few of my favorite motorsport tees. Vtg White Lake Speedway 1981 T Shirt. Simple and perfect. White Lake Speedway opened in 1960 and has changed names several times. It's now known as Bethel Motor Speedway and is located near the site of the original WOODSTOCK festival.
  21. Beautiful boots. Perfect shape, great heels...but a minor quibble: those look like traditional semi round, almond toe or maybe a J or toe. Snip toes look "snipped" with a blunt tip and d Tony Lama has a very blunt structured toe on their snips. Unmistakable in profile. These are just a few styles. There are dozens of name and shape variations by both region and maker.
  22. UNIF Fuzzy sweater Denim vest People Power Phillipines Yellow Revolution T Vintage studded belt Wide leg sevedge denim from...Target! 1960S ACME Thunderbird boots
  23. Vintage Cal Cru 50/50 t shirt with Superman iron on and flocked letters. In the late 1970s this iron on was ubiquitous. I received one on a light blue tee at Marriots Great America sometime in the late 1970s. That tee was eventually sacrificed to make a Halloween costume. Originally produced for Superman : The Movie this sparkly slab of nostalgia was a stiff sweaty experience. And since the fabric underneath would shrink up over time the iron on would eventually bubble and wrinkle. Some clever lad decided to personalize this example with some sweet flocked red letters. Good call, Jay.
  24. One of my very favorite finds ever and perhaps one of the most historically significant. 1980s People Power Unarmed Forces of the Philippines T shirt. The People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution or the February Revolution, were a series of popular demonstrations in the Philippines mostly in Metro Manila, from February 22 to 25, 1986. There was a sustained campaign of civil resistance against regime violence and electoral fraud. The nonviolent revolution led to the departure of Ferdinand Marcos, the end of his 20-year dictatorship and the restoration of democracy in the Philippines. Just a reminder that sustained non violent protest and strikes are some of the only actions that have ever toppled an authoritarian regime.
  25. Vintage Stedman brand 1989 Betty Page t shirt 50/50 poly/cotton t shirt XL The art is by Steve Woron but seems to be vaguely inspired by Dave Stevens' Rocketeer comics. Another massively oversized t shirt. This started out life in my best friends collection but somehow I ended up finding it in a box wrapped around a die cast model of a Delorean. Didn't wear it much due to size.
