  1. regarding yobokies

    SPOT. IS. BLOWN.

I'd agree with you. But there's like 10 real frequent watch kids on here and Harold seems to slang his goods pretty heavily via some of the other watch forums.

I wouldn't expect hundreds of SuFu kids to flood his inbox with watch requests.

  2. Ah, thank you both for the info. I actually found a few builds for sale on some of the watch forums but it just feels right to do this yourself. We'll see.

One more thing @wild style. Did you purchase the base model and have Harold add the face and hands? Or does the price include the cost of the watch (I'm guessing the $125 was the cost of the mods seeing as it would make for an INCREDIBLE deal if it included the watch as well). Also wondering what model you started with.

    Thanks guys.

  3. @Ryan + @wild style: How does the process work with Harold? I've been perusing for a good Seiko for awhile now and just haven't pulled the trigger. After seeing the Yobokie mods and doing some research I'd love to make this happen.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Price point?

  4. thats reasonable for that watch and the band he has on it is probably worth that price alone lol.

Sorry for the double quote but I just wanted emphasize what Arlee said. That band looks amazing. Although I would rather wear a leather band out myself, the leather looks great, think and has aged really nicely.

Reminds of a guy at Gamine (Frech spot here in SF) who has a PAM with a leather band made from old WWII ammunition strap (think leather strap with holes for bullets).

    Sold for $75.

  5. That is pretty wack, as the ones (at least the suede dirty bucks) are def factory seconds which lack a lot of final touches.

Factory seconds or not, Yuketen Dirty Bucks for $32 USD? Might as well be free. I think it's pretty sad that kids are trying to resell them on ebay and here for 5-6x what they paid.

  6. Just got these in today and much to my disappointment they're too small. I sized down as I heard these run large and I normally wear an 8. I'll prob try to grab a 7.5 if I find another pair. (if anybody has a pair that are 7.5 and wants to trade please let me know).

These are a SKU that are only currently sold in Japan. They've got some skuffs on the toe and the heel but the outsole is almost brand new as you can see in the photos.

Here's a link to them on Rakuten: http://tinyurl.com/yayb66e

These are a men's size 7W and they measure 9 7/8" length on the inside. (Danner conversion chart: http://tinyurl.com/ybbgep3)

Asking $200 shipped in the US and A. $45 to JPN and if you live elsewhere just DM me and I'll see what shipping will cost. Paypal preferred.

  7. Wikipedia on the COSC should give you the information you need.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COSC

As for my personal knowledge: it's debatable as to whether a COSC movement is TRULY a superior movement to those that are not. Like the article says, watchmakers will generally submit movements to the COSC with better parts or more jeweling to ensure passing.

Personally, I'd trust a watch maker like Stowa with using a highly reliable movement like the ETA 2824-2. With the COSC option you're more or less paying for a little extra piece of mind and a movement that's a little less likely to give you any trouble and keep slightly better time (the ETA 2824-2 can be capable of keeping equally good time as a COSC movement).

Depends whether or not the 177 extra EUR is a good chunk of coin to you. If you've got the bills to burn then go for it. But if you'd rather use the money for something else then stick with the standard ETA movement.

    2 cents.

  8. I believe the De Ville was a 1960's watch. One of the first supposedly solid waterproof watches by Omega (wouldn't take it in the water now...just to be safe).

I've seen a few in antique watch shops and online still selling for reasonable prices.

Hang on to that thing man. Storied watch hand-me-downs are pretty unbeatable in my opinion.
