Pretty wild to see all these usernames again.

How's everyone holding up?  These are very surreal times we're in.  I'm stuck in Athens, fairly bored, hoping for all this to end soon so we can go back to (somewhat) normal life again.

Reporting live from The Bronx. I've been working from home for the past few years so this doesn't feel all that different to me besides no in-person meetings.

Need to figure out where I'm gonna go once the global economy collapses. Who has the compound on deck?

  2. bi-annual ervell sale report from omc:

the fw sample military parka was sick. there were two, and they went fast at 250 for a rough cotton duck outer layer, grey flannel lined inner layer that buttons in, zip-away hood in the neck, and four front-facing pockets. so fucking mad that the shoulders were so slim.

picked up some winter jeans in charcoal, a band-neck navy wool work shirt [sample], and a navy blue raglan-sleeved sweatshirt. all for 170. booyakasha.

  3. top secret one day only apc sample sale.

racked up on blue desert boots, cognac leather derbies, and a cream/red light parka, all for less than three hundred.

ungh ungh ungh take it bitch ungh.

  4. omc's elements tip: wander in with posse, chill with posse in hallway, have management tell you and posse to go to bed or leave, wander into a porn shop, debate on whether or not you should take a cab back to your swanky-ass hotel room near union square, decide to crash at elements instead, steal front desk's tip jar on the way up to your room, sleep with 5 sufu peoples and some swede's acoustic guitar.

-based on a true real story-

  5. picked up three shirts from ervell... an older striped standard button down, one of the recent raglan sleeve club collars, and one of the older standard button downs in light blue poplin.

sale was nowhere near as amazing as it used to be, although at noon there was a lot of awesomeness going on.

there was a grey linen blazer for 120 [!!!!!] that i wanted to make love to, but they only had a size 38 and 44... WHERE WAS MY 42, GODDAMNIT?

  6. im a broad-shouldered guy, so the raglan sleeve is awesome.

however, i initially had a sleeve length issue. the sleeves on the small are perfect on me, but the body is slimmer than i'd like. wouldn't be able to wear much underneath besides shirts or tees. the medium is the right middleground between super-slim and oversized, but the sleeves are too long... but then i realized that the twisted seam on the arm is there for a reason. snap the cuff tab tighter and the arm twists perfectly along the seam, slimming the entire arm down. it's a pretty genius design touch.

  7. via The Cut:

Patrik Ervell took on a military aesthetic at his fall menswear presentation yesterday. "I started with early Chinese army uniforms," he told us as he was winding down after the show. "But that was just a beginning point." His reinterpretation took military and expanded it to include the use of latex and rubber for transparent raincoats and gear. "These are all handmade," the San Francisco native said, referring to the flexible material used for the outerwear. "It takes three days to make one, and there are no seams — it’s all just bonded rubber." The idea of see-through clothes for men intrigued us, especially because the pieces are still wearable. "Part of what I do is for effect," he said. "There’s little space in menswear where you can really do these things that are more dramatic and a little more romantic. For me, I always find that space in outerwear. I mean, you could wear it as a raincoat. I would, and I don’t really wear crazy clothes."

Ervell seemed relaxed and satisfied by the end of the presentation, most likely because he overcame his biggest hurdle in the very beginning: Anna Wintour not only showed up to see his work — she showed up first, and early. "It's so characteristic of her, she comes early, which is kind of amazing," he said. Ervell officially made Wintour's list of designers to watch when he placed as a runner-up in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards this past November, where he was awarded $50,000 and a mentor to help grow his business. "When they give you that prize, they’re doing it because they’re investing in you," he explained. "And you feel that they want you to succeed." While he doesn't have Anna on speed dial, he's happy enough counting her as a fan. "It's wonderful to have her support. What she does for young designers is amazing, and really, no one else does it. You would think someone like her wouldn’t take an interest, but she does, and she does more than anyone else." One of Ervell's representatives told us that before Anna left, the editor-in-chief asked them to pass along the following message: "Tell Patrik I loved the collection." We'd be surprised if Patrik didn't polish off a bottle of Champagne last night to celebrate a seal of approval like that.

  8. as is to be expected, i love this. almost feels like a "fuck you" to people who've turned their back to him over the past few seasons, or wrote off the rust collection as cerebral garbage, etc.

there's something a bit more european in this collection's vibe that is interesting played off of the other american sportswear hallmarks ervell enjoys using; it's giving me a bit of a dries van noten feel in some ways.

killer outwerwear and suiting as is always the case, particularly with his FW collections, although the cinch belting is a little too similar to recent burberry trench coats... albeit, this looks a bit more tech-y, like when dudes were strapping their Jansport tailstraps around their waist in the 90s.

  9. I like how people who have cysts assume that they're pimples and get their girlfriends to pop them. GO TO THE FUCKING DOCTOR!!

i've had cysts often due to very sensitive skin and going to the doctor for them is a fucking waste. last time i went to a doctor for one, he claimed to have drained it well and i had to re-drain it myself at home TWICE before it began to heal.

ice yourself, slice yourself open, bleed yourself dry, take a shower, chug some gin, and pass out. you'll be fine by morning.
