im wondering if they'll get all torn up on the concrete, but they seem pretty solid. we'll see.
I would imagine they would. Those soles are made for stalking prey in the wilderness.
Not much hunting going on in the concrete jungle.

There's a Men's Vogue?

I'm going to sell my vintage US Navy Peacoat soon.
I'm not sure when it's from exactly. I think it's from the 50's. Definitely post WWII.
Looks like this one
It's made of Kersey wool, not melton wool like today's issues, so it's warmer.
I'll sell it for $75 shipped. Let me know if you're interested and I'll take pics.

Don't quite understand why there is so much talk about sweatshirt sizing when
THERE ARE MEASUREMENTS ON THE FUCKING WEBSITE.

the shirt fabric is thinner than i expected from a piece with workwear roots. on the plus side, i never get sick of passers by asking me what store it is so that part was rewarding
I think because it looks like denim, people expect chambray to be heavy and rough, but it's a soft, light, airy fabric.

It's funny to see them trying to keep up with the Iphone.
Even their commercials scream, "Hey look at us! We're hip too!"

And I'm not agreeing with Francona's decision to start JD Drew. He looks very uncomfortable at the plate and his timing is all off.
This is why I'm not a baseball manager

Well if a denim shirt is all you're after, you could get a Sugar Cane one from History Preservation for the same price. A chambray shirt from there is about $25 more.

i bought this shirt a few weeks ago but returned it the next day. that neck tab is beyond wack - i couldn't live with it, especially not for $100
You could easily have the tab removed.
I like the shirt. I think they featured it on GQ.com last year. It's very "country". Not like country music, but like midwestern farm country.

I wonder if anyone would stay to watch the 9th inning?
They might all be too busy to watch with all their rally monkey/noise maker clapper things and Manny dread hats...
Those noise clapper things are beyond obnoxious. That shit would never fly in Fenway.

Kotsay has good numbers against Santana, but I think that Drew needs some playing time, I dont think he hurts the lineup when he's in it and if he gets his timing back anytime soon he will be huge. Tito plays different ball in the post season, if we're down and Drew is lost, Kotsay will be playing.
I have a bit more confidence in Matsuzaka tonight, I think the fact that he's loaded the bases 14 times this season and hitters are 0 for 14 with those bases loaded shows that he is best when the pressure is on, I think he will be fine. Either way, Beckett apparently looked fine in his session yesterday, game 3 is pretty much a sure thing.
I agree that you're a better team with a healthy Drew, but it's tough to be getting your first swings during the playoffs after a prolonged absence. I have a lot of faith in Tito as a manager. I think he does a great job, but if he has a fault it's that he is too loyal to his players. I hope he's not going with Drew just because he feels he owes it to him. You gotta put your best players out there on any given night. I hope he thinks that putting Drew out there over Kotsay or Crisp helps the team out overall even if that means Drew not finding his stroke for a game or two. It's a tough situation I guess. If you're a player like Drew is and you're healthy enough to play, I guess you gotta be in there.
As far as Matsuzaka goes, I guess I have a bit of nervous anticipation. I know he's gotten out of a lot of jams this season, and you could say that he's good under pressure. But you could also look at like, he's gotten out of bases loaded jams unscathed 14 times this season, when's he finally gonna crack?
He's got good stuff undoubtedly. I just hope that the Angels hitters aren't too patient with him. If they start taking pitches and he racks up high pitch counts it could be a short night for him and a long night for the pen. That in itself might not be a bad thing as they only worked 2 innings last game and had a day off yesterday. If Matsuzaka can pitch into the 6th, then I think we'll be ok.

Angels better bounce back tonight. Even if we gave Matsuzaka one of his three losses, he's been on point to end the season. Our bats need to wake up. Oh, and lose Gary Matthews Jr, seriously.
I have very little confidence in Matsuzaka. He walks way too many batters and throws too many pitches per inning. His 18 wins and good ERA are poor indicators of his performance this season.
Still if he can keep his pitch total and walks down, I like the Sox chances tonight.
The key is to get an early lead to give Matsuzaka some breathing room and keep the Angels bullpen at bay.
And I'm not agreeing with Francona's decision to start JD Drew. He looks very uncomfortable at the plate and his timing is all off. I think he should have gone (or go) with Crisp or Kotsay. Kotsay had been hitting fairly well at the end of the regular season. If Drew gets more comfortable at the plate, then I guess it's the right move to go with him. I just don't like the idea of sending a guy out there to find his swing in the middle of the playoffs.

2008 AL and NL MVPs?
AL - I think Dustin Pedroia will win the MVP over Quentin for a few reasons.
He stepped up when the team needed him (batted cleanup for 4 games and absolutely killed it), led the league in hits, finished 2nd in batting, led the league in runs, played phenomenal defense, and played all but 5 games. Another big factor is that he plays in a huge media market. Hurting his case is that Youkilis had a monster year as well, so they will likely steal votes from each other.
Quentin has a legitimate chance to win, but he only played 130 games and while he led the league in HRs, he only had 36. Not exactly a monster power performance. He also only had 100 RBI, which is good, but not MVP good.
You could also make an argument for Morneau, but not making the playoffs hurts his chances.
NL - It's gotta be Pujols.
i agreeas many times as I have said i could have managed the Yankees, a manager now adays is basically a babysitter for millionaire babies....Joe Torre has that lovable uncle/grandpa thing going for him and seems most of players respect him and thats half the battle.....how many other professions does your manager make less than the workers......
I liked Joe Torre until he became a yankee...but he was a pretty mediocre manager up until that point....but he has found his niche....not so much managing but babysitting good players.......though it does seem likes he's had to manage a bit more on the Dodgers with all the young players and NL style baseball.......
Eh, it's hard for me to give Torre that much credit, because even though he made the playoffs, the Dodgers finished only 6 games above .500. In the NL West it's hard not to make the playoffs. Plus he was literally handed a first ballot Hall of Famer in Manny Ramirez.

If it's not the Cubs, then I'd love to see the Red Sox play the Dodgers.
Would be great to boo Manny out of Fenway Park.

say what? green under brims are classic 90s steeze
Eh, I'm not trying to relive the 90's.

the brown "s" new era is so fresh.
Yeah, it's a good looking hat, but the green underside of the brim ruins it.

Can someone recommend a fragrance with a subtle musk note?
I'd like something where the musk is not a primary note (like Malin & Goetz), but a complimentary note.
L'eau de L'eau by Diptyque has a nice musk basenote after the dry down, but I don't like the top notes.
