  1. I got my FH3001 about a week ago. I wear a size 29 in just about everything and got the same in these. Here are some pre-soak measurements and pics:

Waist: 30" (14.5" across the back)

    Front rise: 10"

    Back rise: 13.5"

Thigh: a little more than 11.5"

    Inseam: 36"

    Leg opening: 7 3/4"

    Laid flat:

The fabric has a lot of character. It's fairly smooth, but you can already see the verticals peaking through:

I wore them in a hot bath for an hour to shrink them down. I didn't take post-shrink measurements, but after they dried, they were quite tight around the hips and through the thigh. I think one of the more unique aspects to the FH3001 fit is the way the thigh comes in so quickly, whereas most jeans seem to narrow more gradually until the knee. I've been wearing them only a few days now. They have stretched out in all the right places, and fit very comfortably now. Here are the current measurements and pics:

Waist: 30" (14.5" across the back)

    Front rise: 9.5"

    Back rise: 13"

    Thigh: 11"

    Inseam: 34"

    Leg opening: 7.5"

The lighting by my mirror isn't so great, but hopefully you get the idea:

Definitely an awesome pair of jeans!

  2. I read all the posts in this thread, but I'm still a little confused on size. These seem to fit around the waist like any other Japanese denim brands. I wear in a post-soak 29 in Denime, SD-103, and Sugarcane. I plan on soaking these as well. If the true measurement of 30" on Self Edge is post-soak, that should be perfect. Is there any reason I shouldn't get a 29 again?

  3. I'm selling a pair of Denime XX Size 29. They are a pretty typical '47 repro fit. The denim is very even/neat and not slubby at all, something I personally like. They were warm-soaked for a few hours and hung dry so most shrinkage should be out of the way. They have not been worn outside my apartment. Here are the approximate post-shrinkage measurements:

    Waist: 30"

    Leg Opening: 8"

    Inseam: 33"

    Front rise: 11"

    Back rise: 14"

    Thigh: 11"

They were purchased through xxcoldricexx for a total of $305. I will ship anywhere in the US for $220 via PayPal. Please PM if interested.

  4. Even though brokers are leeches, I would not discriminate between fee and no fee apartments. It's hard enough finding the right place in the right neighborhood, and I've found that you pay the same no matter what. No fee apartments are generally about 5-10% more per month so if you plan on staying there at least two years, you will have spent the money anyway.

Also, brokers will usually have you sign a contract before they show you any apartments. This usually states that you owe them 15% of the year's rent if you decide to take the apartment. Negotiate! I used to cross off 15% and write in 12%. If they don't go for it, find another broker. There are thousands of them. Most will agree to a 12% fee. In fact, I recommend using several brokers right off the bat. Abuse them, not the other way around.

  5. Call Calvin Klein on 60th and Madison to see if they have a sale. I've been shopping there for years, and they have the most friendly, knowledgable staff you can imagine. They sell a lot of different kinds of suits, but they always carry a classic two button in Navy or Black for $999. If they're having a sale, and they are often are, it could cost half that. This is Calvin Klein black label, which you can't find in department stores. I highly recommend.

If that doesn't work out, you have Bloomingdale's nearby. Barney's is just next door, but you'd be hard pressed to find a suit in the $400-800 range there.

  6. I started going to a dermatologist about a year ago. She had me drop all the expensive department store products. I now wash with Cetaphil Facial Cleanser, moisturize with Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer, and shave with Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream. My skin could not be happier. Moisturizing after you wash will balance out your skin nicely, whether it's dry or oily. If you shave, you do not need to exfoliate. Running a sharp blade across your face is actually a better exfoliator than any product you could buy.

  7. I've bought quite a bit of rag and bone, but the funny thing is, never their jeans. I own two t-shirts, which I think are really nice. They're t-shirts... either you like them or you don't.

I also bought their engineer jacket from a few years back. I like it a lot. At a little under $300, I think it was well-worth the money and has all the subtle detail I would expect of something a little pricier. The only problem I've had is that it stained easily on the sleeve. I think I might have got some eye drops on it. Anyway, I was surprised it faded so much from that, and the stain is so prominent that it annoys me.

Finally, I have their black leather bomber from this year. I absolutely love this thing. The leather is calf and very soft. It fits slim. I'm tall and skinny and it seems to be made for people with my body. It cost a little under $1k, but I expected to pay this much. Again, for what it is, I think the value is good. Just a few days prior, I was looking at the Varvatos bomber, which I didn't even like, and it cost $1,500. This jacket is just as nice and fits my personal style to a tee. It's simple, fits nicely, has a high degree of quality, and no extraneous details.

  8. Griffin, that Rag & Bone leather bomber is awesome! Where'd you find that? Also, did those come in brown?

I got the last one at Barneys New York. On rag-bone.com, they have a brown version, but I didn't see it there. Looks a little too reddish to me, actually. I don't know how I'd pull it off.

  9. where/how much can i get that acne hoodie?

I got it at the Acne store in Berlin for 130 euro. I haven't seen it in New York so I don't know if it's available in the US. Acne also seems to cost almost double in the states.

  10. It was mentioned earlier in this thread, but not for a while. I picked up an Acne hoodie three weeks ago, and I'm in love. It's really soft, with a nice dense weave, sim fit, and a BAPE-style zipper around the hood. Personally, I'm not really into those wild prints everywhere (not that there's anything wrong with that). This a simple, no logo, fitted, high quality, hoodie with a slight twist in that the zipper goes al the way around.

  11. Ryu, thanks. I took another look at the sizing and it seems they are slightly thinner. I guess I could size up on the 66XX, but I'm more interested in what a pair of XX would fit like.

  12. Susljik, the sizing is pretty normal. I wear a 29 in the 66s. I also wear a 29 Nudie Regular Ralf and '47 Cane. In APC New Standard, I wear 27 (which is basically a 29). My Denimes fit most like my New Standards.

  13. I have a question about Denime fits. I have a pair of Type 66 that fit perfectly. I'm pretty skinny, and these follow the contours of my body very nicely. I also have a pair of '47 Canes that don't fit so well. They're baggy and bow out around the thigh. Would Denime XX fit similarly to the '47 Canes or would they be a little more fitted through the thigh for skinny guys like me? Would they bow out like the Canes? I'd like something a little bit wider than the 66 fit, but not like the '47 Cane fit. Is Denime XX a good candidate?

Also, as an aside, is the fit on the 66XX exactly the same as the 66? Is it only the fabric that's different?

  14. I've been reading this thread, but I'm still a little confused on the SD-103 waist size. I wear a 29 in Nudie RRDS and Sugarcane after a cold soak. I wear a 28 in raw Dior. I always get confused when they say it'll shrink down to tag size because all my jeans seem bigger. For example, my 29 Nudies all measure about 31". Should I size up to a 30 or stick with a 29, which is what usually works for me.

  15. Interesting. Well, just to give you guys an update, I have a size 30 on the way. Since it takes a few weeks to order a 29 and they will be non-refundable, I decided to try a 30. If they don't fit, I can order a 29, and there will be no harm done.

Wild: So according to what you're saying, the 30 is going to be the right move?

  16. Yeah, it's funny you say that. I've spent over a half hour on the phone with her over the past few days and she's been really nice. I think she feels bad that she can't answer all my questions.

  17. I appreciate it, guys. rnr, I read your other posts, and it looks like you're not the only one who got talked up a size. You get on the phone and they make so much sense, but I'm going to go with the 29.
