  1. i'd just withdraw cash from the ATMs. least affected by fees and variable exchange rates. I've never tried the convenience store ATMs but I know for a fact that the post office ATMs work with foreign bank ATM cards.

unless you are walking around naked,  noone will care.

child – i guess it all depends. i was a baby there. though my mom used to drive me around, when i was really small.

  2. yea pretty bad idea, i did some of this a while ago and having to put up with a young girls insecurities is very draining no matter how soft her skin is. i'm mid 20s now and probably wouldn't be interested in dating a girl more than 2-3 years younger than me.

for date ideas i don't really like meeting at a restaurant/bar/coffee place first thing, its much nicer to do some kind of activity first. if theres some art thing you want to go to  then sure, but normal stuff is fine also, it really doesn't matter too much. ive had good dates at an aquarium, going ice skating, all kinds of stuff i wouldnt be interested in doing on my own. its just nice if the conversation slows down a bit and you can say "hey look at that cool fish over there" or whatever.

if youve been talking to her on tinder for a few days then probably you already know a few things that she likes so just pick one of those that youre also ok with and propose that, if she wants to do something else she'll tell you and that's also fine.

and about getting into relationships from tinder yeah sure why not, obviously the app isnt really built for that but once you meet up and youre talking to someone in person what's the difference? i met my current girl irl, one before that on tinder, i don't see how it's any different.

i'm dating a 21 yo and she borin af!

  3. goin to berlin for 4 days the end of feb. 2 friends r playing berghain/panorama so gonna tag along. was told to find a place near hardwax to stay. my number 1 most important question is, where can i get some good coffee around there? thanks! ( sry if answered already)

kreuzberg dope. the cafe in voo serves koppi. father and carpenter kinda sucks. cool atmosphere tho

  4. FINALLY going to japan for the first time. Travelling with architecture students for our studio trip and right now our itinerary is Tokyo and Kyoto. Hokkaido is in the mix, but given we have a week I think Hokkaido seems highly impossible. However, I will be spending at least 2 weeks there.

    1. What is the cheapest way to get around Japan? Is there anything similar to NYC 7 or 30 day metro pass? My roommate said the Japan Rail Pass, http://www.japanrailpass.net/en/about_jrp.html, is the best option considering we are going to Kyoto too? I am looking for something that is an all included pass preferably!

    2. Going through a couple pages, my understanding is that buying wtaps/neighborhood/visvim/etc. is better to buy it from non-japanese stores (ssense, etc.), correct? If anyone has like a store in mind for cool clothes in general let me know! I dont mind thrift stores since I am peasant. Or maybe buying clothes isn't the thing to do in Japan?

    3. Lastly, and more importantly, How do I bring back J-girls to my hotel, herpsky?

    1. Yes.

    2. 28

    3. yes.

    you probs out of luck.

  5. also, the oh-so-ever important question is do you want to meet japanese girls?

there's a few things that could complicate things

    1) do you speak english

    2) how old are you? e.g. shibuya is late teens and early 20s

    3) are you a non-japanese asian

we know of a lot of pick up spots but it really depends on your demographic

  6. i personally would stay in ebisu just because it's within walking distance to daikanyama/nakameguro for shopping and food, one-meter cab ride away from nishi azabu, ready access to the metro if i want to venture out to the east side, a hub station for toyoko-line means i can take a train straight to yoyogi, ikebukuro (dunno why anyone would want to go), and some of the local in-the-know hotspots like yutenji, hibiya-line to go to yurakucho/ginza for DSM/Hankyu – also goes straight to the super touristy spots like Asakusa. I've walked to shibuya station, and it takes about 15-20 minutes at most.

another wild alternative is mishuku/sangenjyaa. it's semi-inconvenient but close to shibuya. there's a lot of new interesting shops and restaurants between komazawa daigaku and shibuya along 246 (or in the close vicinity). most of the shops are open insanely late. most of Tokyo's young, creative (perhaps broke) types live in the ikejiri/sancha/mishuku area. that area is a party central if you know where to go. that bar drag in front of the sancha station is always a party central and very welcoming for foreign visitors. i think a lot of people who live in that area are hyper liberal and always want to hang out with "cool foreigners".

  7. the answer is always: depends on what you want to accomplish.

we had some og sufuers visiting a while back. he stayed in an itabashi airbnb.

i wouldn't probably recommend that. also, the question of where to stay hinges on how late you want to stay out on a weekday i.e. past 12-1AM.

  8. Dunno where else to post it:

For those of us in the US, this site has an insane selection of books for pretty much < than the retail at Kinokuniya and etc.

Free shipping too. Tax free for out of staters.

    http://www.nihonbooks.com

I'm in no way affiliated. I just bought Popeye, Go OUT and some other normcore fashion magazines.

A copy of popeye is like 9 bucks.

Please buy your fashion books from here so we can keep legit businesses like this alive.

  9. what is in shinjuku besides Isetan? americana will always be popular. it's been popular since the early 90s (or even the late 70s if you consider the "take ivy" influences).

the prescribed looks ala tech kimoi ninja and undercover everything don't really exist outside of the internet

  10. What is the usual schedule for holiday closing for stores in Tokyo for New Years?

closed on the first usually. open from the 2nd or 3rd.

you will have to fight the hatsuuri crowd. the afternoon of

12/31 is a good time bc the markdown for New Years would already have been done but untouched by the Japanese or mainland tourists. some of the smaller places like Midwest does this for you

cp is pretty hard to find. it's not part of the normcore cool guy starter pack in Tokyo.

ua is an authorized retailer. seven daikanyama has more exotic models like derbies

  11. apparently roppongi hills is redoing their men's fashion area

new stores include: undercover, soph, facetasm, n. hollywood, factotum, attachment, wjk, minotaur

    good idea? i don't know

i think these are all free-standing shops

  12. i'd just use Skype out or google voice with an LTE card.

oh yeah, don't ever get nihon tsushin's 5gb (or was it 3gb)? LTE card that works for a month.

they throttle you like crazy unless you stick to google maps and web browsing.

  13. In other news I purchased a new parka today from Musto, not a name mentioned much in these parts but I feel it might be appropriate here?

2L Goretex with Primaloft insulation, inner hand gaitors, cuff reflectors and rather nice coyote fur trim that naturally does not freeze.

Nice and long and blasted comfy and a steal as it was less than half price !

    Should be a lifer.

Almost forgot, these arrived too at half price.

Yours sincerely, Mr bargain basement !!

how to y3 boosts fit? i vaguely remember they were HUGE when i tried them on at macchus.

i still kinda want the qr boosts. i'm a 10.5 in huarache and ultraboosts. what size will i b?
