  1. thanks for the replies-

was looking at pp from a brand perspective which is very much linked to swire- as mentioned above...i agree with alot that has been said and i think that ifc is creeping in, but pp still has that 'posh' feel to it, though drab...

    anymore comments would be appreciated

  2. can you guys, or anyone else elaborate as to why ifc or causeway are much better?

is it as a result of personal style (hence wrong shops) or is it the mall dynamics, food etc...?

  3. For those of you in HK or that have been, any insights, thoughts or opinions about Pacific Place Mall?

I know there are some super shoppers out there so this has got to be the place.

  4. Relocating so need to get rid of some excess baggage!

    Looking to sell -

If interested PM me and I can provide pics.

    Thanks.

  5. personally i think the pictures are lacking any context...in the first pic what is the main subject that you are trying to capture? what is it that is striking? from a tech point of view i think that the second pic could be fixed abit by cropping and maybe straightening, but again kinda lacks context.

this is just my opinion, i think the best thing to do is keep shooting and not take anything too personally - you will find a style that you like from experience.

  6. carl,

thanks for the compliments - i think your portraits have alot of depth the series has a good feel.

good to know that you shoot with a leica also. i have recently picked up a contax t2 and that has been my everyday camera, i am loving it. i 'd say get the best equipment/glass that you can afford and suits your shooting style. no sense in getting a big digi slr with loads of lenses if it is too big for you to carry and shoot.

i am learning more and more that being an effective photographer is more about 'being there' and the relationship you are trying to establish with your subject. look at terry richardson, from a technical point of view nothing spectacular, but look at his portraits and they are imho pretty strong. the other argument is someone like the cobrasnake, i am not 100% sure but i would guess that he is using a digital slr with flash. pics nothing spectacular at all and too many but there is an audience for it b/c he is at places most ppl would love to be.

myself i am more of a fan of erwitt and the magnum photographers. they went about their business and hunted the shots. they fucking killed it.

  7. thats what i thought when i copped my 2 pairs of uniqlo selvedge...very difficult to see the difference when there is that much discrepancy in cost. and i love prps, but i am now a huge fan of uniqlo. their cords are amazing as are their cardis. perfect philosophy, clothes should not be louder than the person wearing them.

  8. jungle is shit. they are rude and things are overpriced and corny from their 'design'.

camden has the best one that i have found. in the stables, all reasonably priced and excellent quality. i have about 4 jackets from there as well as black moleskin cargo pants. stop by there first and then check others and you will see...

  9. and what is your definition of hip hop?

something that is stagnant? same beats? same rhymes and cadences? and then when something is different it is pop hop...gimme a break.

  10. i find it amusing that hip hop artists build careers on bragging and boasting and yet kanye is big headed...?

hate em or love em he is top dog and raising the game - no matter what ppl say

  11. justus league are killing it, def. agree as is doom. yes, minstrel show is gonna be the shit.

doom is a great example of an artist with a story of triumph. no doubt one of the main reasons kanye has succeeded (through the wire). those that remember kmd will remember how doom came to be after his brother was killed by a car accident. it was also interesting that doom was feat. on the cover of wired magazine a few months back as well.

w/re to kanye and politics, i don't necessarily agree with what he said and really have no first hand knowledge about the katrina situation but as an artist with his current profile i don't see why he shouldn't have said something when he did. other artists that were involved were 'sympathetic' with the situation but look at the news headlines now after kanye made his statement. loads more interest especially to younger audiences...so it may be a double edged sword but i think that the way the states views race issues is indicative of how the public will feel about his stance.
