  1. I don't agree, I think black stitching would make them too "fashiony" like Dior or Nom De Guerre. Samurai is more of a traditional, repro kind of thing. The stitching isn't all that noticeable anyway, it's not super bright, True Religion style orange.

  2. Quick post 2am soak update on the 710 BK: Did 45 minute hot water soak last night, I don't have full set of measurements but the waist shrunk to the tag size and most other areas did lose about 1/2 inch just as the BiG size chart says. Inseam shrunk to right around 36. Quick fit pics, sorry for quality:

  3. Just went and picked up my 710BK from BiG, they do indeed have hidden arcs like the USA model, not just black stitching like the indigo ones. They look great from what I can tell without trying them on, unfortunately I'm working crazy hours so I won't get a chance to soak them for a couple of days. I was bummed that I couldn't buy the SExFH black joints because my money was tied up in these, but now that I have them I couldn't care less. Fit pics in a few days...

  4. They did some XXL tees a couple of seasons ago, but I'm pretty sure they didn't do box tees, or if they did they were the holographic ones, not basics like these. I call bullshit, but someone else may know better.

  5. i've heard that usps deliv. confirmation isn't good enough proof of tracking for paypal's standards. is that true? if so, does usps offer anything that does comply or are you supposed to ship ups, fedex, etc.? payapls site is vague from what i've read.

I think they require a service with a real tracking number, not just delivery confirmation. If someone says they never got a package from you Delivery Confirmation can't give you any info about where the package might be, but a Fed Ex number or something like that will have detailed info as to where a package is. I think the closest thing USPS offers is Registered Mail.

EDIT: From the Paypal Site: "Packages should be sent with tracking numbers. Once you get a tracking number from the shipping service, promptly send it to the buyer. As an extra precaution, you should consider adding delivery confirmation."

So obviously tracking and delivery confirmation are 2 separate things to the USPS. When you add the cost of confirmation and registered mail to the USPS rates UPS and FED EX become a lot more competitive, because they include both services in their fee.

  6. Why only 1 hour? Don't think that's long enough dude. I did 1 hour with the first pair I had that didn't fit. Didn't do much. I did a 4 - 5 hour soak, changing the water 3 or 4 time with my current 5000vx and they moved a lot more.

This is something Kiya posted on another forum about soak times:

"Soaking your jeans in water for anything over 40 minutes is a waste of time, the shrinking of the cotton fibers takes place because they've become wet then dry for the first time since being woven into a textile. How long you leave the jeans in the water does NOT equate to the amount of shrinking.

Actual test i've done just to make sure what i've learned is correct: Take a pair of unsanforized jeans and soak them in warm water for 25 minutes, take another pair of the same jeans and soak them for 2 hours. Difference in shrinkage? Pretty much unnoticeable. Technically? .1" in the waist, .2" in the length. The temperature of the water makes a far larger difference. Kids who talk about "i soaked for three hours" are wasting 2 hours and 40 minutes of waiting time"

  7. -Eminem playing to a packed crowd at Tramps and killing it so hard. (shades of brooklyn opened) and me almost passing out and having to sit on the floor after smoking a blunt of haze sans food and water. Was out past 2am on a school night for that shit and payed dearly.

I was at that show too, MF Doom and some other group also opened. I thank that was actually the last live hip-hop show I went to, tired of being disappointed by wack performances.

not sure about honda, but now that i think about it didn't he have some boutique on lafayette around the same time the liquid sky & final home shops were down there? weird.

Honda's shop was still there until a couple of years ago, it was in the spot that Dunderdon took over, between G-Star and Supreme. It was there for years and I never once knew anyone that bought a thing there. Must have cost Honda and his investors a fortune to keep that place for so long.

  8. I've given up on my 811's. I'm tired of the dumpy diaper ass and high rise.

I'm starting to feel the same way about mine. Especially since I bought mine a little big to begin with. I still wear mine 2-3 times a week and I love the denim but everytime I wear them I'm unhappy with how they fit. I think when my 710BK's come in I may put the 811 away for a while.

  9. Gauge sounds familiar, but I don't know it off the top of my head. I'm kind of surprised you could sell that Natural Resources for much dough because it was repressed a couple of times. I got good money for my doubles of the OG Funcrusher EP and Siah and Yeshua though. The bottom has really dropped out of the market for that stuff now, MP3 killed it all dead.

  10. Yeah, I loved the underground stuff at the time, but I hate all that Anticon "Hip-Hop for white kids who don't actually know any black people" stuff with a passion. I agree that that stuff (plus the glut of terrible singles that flooded the market after Rawkus took off) ruined the underground scene. heBAY mentioned a lot of good stuff, here are some others worth hearing.

L The Head Toucha - Too Complex

    Chris Lowe - Uncut Action

    Tragedy - Funk Mode

    Eclipse - World Premiere

    Blackalicious - Swan Lake/Lyric Fathom

Natural Resource - Negro League Baseball/Bum Deal

    J-Live - Braggin Writes

Rass Kass - Soul On Ice (remix)

    Latyrx - Say That

    Mountain Brothers - Paperchase

Tony Bones & Mr. Live - Splashin' Over Monica

    Rasco - Unassisted

    Shadez Of Brooklyn - Change

I could go on for days...

  11. EMG's are good pickups for people who run their guitars thru a lot of gear, like a big rack processing system, because they are very even and have a high output (and the scooped EQ). Players who like them want that flat sound so they can shape it to their liking with their gear. Traditional pickups tend to lose tone and sound lifeless when run thru all that stuff.

On the other hand, if you are just running into amp directly or thru a couple of stomp boxes, EMG's sound too "hi-fi" and sterile. You need a traditional magnetic pickup to bring out all the funkiness and tone from a good tube amp.

  12. I've always left mine at zero as well, with the weight reversed. Supposedly causes less cue burn. If I was scratching and having skip problems I might turn it up a bit, but I usually find that if I'm having a lot of skipping problems it means my stylus is either dirty or shot.

  13. Y'know, I respect FTB as a poster, but fuck is a he self-absorbed character. And feeling the need to always have the last word in an argument is immature in my book, not human nature. If you do anything in public you need to be able to handle criticism with grace, not feel like you have to explain and defend yourself endlessly. Someone who claims to be so self assured and full of confidence shouldn't so defensive when criticized by people he claims not to respect.

  14. I love my 1200's, but you know that they are far from audiophile quality, right? If you care about sound quality first then you need a belt drive table, direct drives vibrate and the rumble is pretty audible if you compare the two on a decent stereo.

That said, I've had my 12's for 11 years now, never had a problem with them and hope I never will.

  15. HR isn't gay, the controversy (in a nutshell) was that he freaked out on tour when he found out that several well known punks (like Dave Dictor of MDC and Biscuit of the Big Boys) were gay, he and the other Bad Brains went ballistic in a very publicly homophobic way that many people have never forgiven them for. I've heard/read Daryl and Dr. Know apologize for this much later on, but HR has never backed away from the typical Rasta view of homosexuals AFAIK.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion of stupidity.

  16. I think Witts said he doesn't plan to soak/wash them for a while. I think they look pretty good, fits with his aesthetic.

(edit) beaten to the punch by the man himself

  17. Sorry to hear that braidkid, I feel your pain.

BiG doesn't do tapering, which is why we have these problems. If you just need a hem done you have plenty of options, but tapering is a risky proposition right now.

  18. 2) why would the kermit photo be more than any other shot that the company would have to pay rights for? the fact that the kermit tee was the same price as the tyson tee and the tera tee, etc. points to the fact that supreme didn't have to pay the hensen family any more than they had to pay tyson, PE, or tera

Nah, I would be willing to bet that the rights to use the most recognizable character of a franchise as well known as the Muppets cost a lot more than the rights to a washed up, broke-as-a-bum boxer or a hip hop group 15 years past it's prime.

  19. I did the same (or so I thought), but when I went to pick my jeans up I was pretty crushed. And this was the tailor that BiG recommended too. They look fine for the most part, but I like the way jeans look with a small turn-up and they look awful like that now.
