  1. Not sure if anyone has a pair of the Nom De Guerre light grey selvedge jeans from the Fall 06 season, but curious to know how much this denim stretches (espec in the waist)?

i know the raw indigo denim stretches a fair amount, however, i've noticed that the black overdyes and grey overdyes don't stretch much at all...

i'm assuming that since this is all DENIM, there's bound to be some stretching...however, just wondering how much give i can really expect...

    thanks in advance

  2. fall 07 looks good...really good...nothing groundbreaking, but once again, NDG re-invents the classics really, really well...

it's also nice seeing them move to a more straight leg/relaxed denim reference...getting a bit tired of only seeing slim fit denim everywhere i look...the combination of both is refreshing to see...

    looking forward to fall 7

  3. ahh...the memories....completely forgot about Too Black Guys and 100 miles...i remember weekly visits to Too Black Guys, hearing Brand Nubian through the speakers...weekly drops to Play Da Record and New York Connections to cop vinyl...100 miles def had their moments...those were the times huh? i remember copping Protect Ya Neck on 12" independent pressing, before they signed to Loud...i still remember the first time i heard Come Clean at Play da Record...group of 12 crowded around the tables while homeboy leaning back just watching our reactions....crazy....where have all the good days gone...

  4. just thought i'd put my two cents in...

As someone that was born and raised in Toronto, i have only postive things to say about the current retail situation here...Those that have spent enough time here i'm sure would agree with me...

there was a time when streetwear was only starting to see the light of day (when Stussy was just starting to move away from surf...when Triple 5 Soul was actually a decent line...when small companies such as NFC was killing it with those Phillies Blunt tees) and Toronto was just horrible for shopping.

It use to to be about making quarterly runs to NYC just to see what was going down. There was no such thing as online purchasing...Hypebeasting wasn't even a term back then...Safe havens were army surplus and vintage stores. Bottom line - Toronto had nothing!! (anyone remember the original Uncle Otis in Cabbagetown run by Master-T?)

Things have progressed by leaps and bounds in my opinion. Hearing the Delphic, Nomad/Goodfoot fam talking years ago about what they wanted to do, finally fell inline with what the city was willing to spend on (anyone remember Matt's previous store which carried Duffer etc? - these places flopped - the city wasn't ready).

Times have changed. Streetwear has evolved from tees and medicore cut&sew lines such as Stussy/Freshjive into legitment fashion houses Nom De Guerre etc (even Fresh Jive made the attempt to reach high fashion with their Beggars Banquet / Exclusives line) and with this progression, the popularity of the culture has blown through the roof. I'm sure some of you will remember that Uncle Otis use to carry Supreme. They were also the first store in the city to carry Maharishi/MHI, not to mention Noah, Wings and Horns, Spruce, goods from Union (by the way, early Noah pieces kill everything that has come out recently - crazy trenchcoats and cable knit sweaters...man) but no one was ready for that, few too many heads knew the score cause the internet hadn't blown up yet.

The progression we've all seen has been a pleasant one. At one point in time (what i thought would be the city's peak) there use to be three spots to hit in the city - Vice, Otis and Delphic...Everything else was wack - if you couldn't find what you wanted, you were stuck. NY/Japan/London etc, was your only other hope. Over the years, as the culture as evolved into being more fashion based, and as many of us get older, new stores and new options have started to do things right...regardless of what you think of the many stores in the city, WE NOW HAVE CHOICE - TNT, Holts, Noir/I-Cii (though these cats had it right a LONG TIME AGO), Lileo, Klaxon, Delphic, Nomad, Goodfoot, Ransom, Lounge, Capsule, Uncle Otis, Studio Deluxe (when Ivan still ran the show), the list goes on and on as new stores keep popping up every month.

I guess what i'm trying to say is, things aren't too bad...You can't look to the future if you don't remember the past. Be thankful for the way things are now. Runs to NY aren't nearly as necessary as they once were. As a longtime supporter of the culture (though now i've "grown" a bit), i'm excited to see where things go...best of luck to all those looking to start new lines (Krane - very nice) or new stores...Do You...and everything will fall into place...

  5. i picked up a pair of Rogan Patriot pants last year, and as many Rogan owners already know, their pants are fairly "full" in the leg and seat.

i was meaning to alter them last year but didn't get around to it...

generally speaking, is it difficult to narrow the leg and seat areas in a pair of loose fitting pants? will i be able to keep the overall shape of the pant? please keep in mind that this will not be a taper job, but instead an adjustment throughout the pant.

    Thanks in advance...

  6. i know all denim stretches...but does anyone know how much Nom De Guerre denim stretches in the waist? I'm not referring to the raw denim but the other pairs they do. The grey and the black joints..

    thanks in advance

  7. Morningstar is absolutely correct...CM clothing is at it's best when on sale. Conceptually, they come up with a few decent items each season, but it's never anything groundbreaking...In fact, you can see them consistently borrowing ideas from other designers. in the end, compared ot other chain retailers, if you can wait for the sales, you'll be in pretty good hands.

  8. rtfts tend to do wear quickly on the inside of the heel...the rest of the shoe is quite sturdy, but for some reason, every pair of rtfts i own wear down on the inside like crazy

  9. what up Contrast...it's been a minute for sure...lurking in the cut...haha...

you're right, didn't see any slim fits at nomad...

duffels are out of control...really nice...the corduroy lining is a really nice touch...what size are you Contrast? you might want to make a decision on that coat soon...don't think there's a large quantity in each size...

  10. Kane is right...the new peacoats and duffle coats are out of control...nice work this season!!....the only peacoat i've seen that has turned out better is Cloak's...Wings&Horns has also really stepped up the detailing this season...i said this last season, and i'll say it again, this is one of the few lines i eagerly look forward to seeing each season....
