  1. hmm not sure what she has but i know she had a student visa before she got this visa. i remember her saying something about living there for two years prior but i'm not sure what that had to do with anything. she is fluent in japanese, i am not, however, i'd just want to go for a year to teach english, and my sister being the manager at her english school may help me get in a lot faster than other places.

have you tried attaining dual citizenship and have you taught english in japan? just curious as to how you know so much...

  2. ^no disrespect taken - i figure there might be some sort of age limit but i'm certainly not 100% positive about that for the dual citizenship. There's got to be some reason my dad said I'd be able to get a dual citizenship as I'm sure he wouldn't say it "just because," then again, maybe he's just wrong.

what my sister probably has is the "child of a Japanese national" visa - her visa is actually good for three years and it was easy to get with my dad's marriage cert which is on file in japan...

  3. ^Red - i'm trying to do the same thing! i keep thinking about the financial remifications and it sort of scares me...but i guess you just gotta get off your ass and do it!

i think it's easy to get a 2 year visa if you find a company to teach english with. for tokyo, i have it pretty easy since my dad is a citizen of japan and not america, i can easily get a visa or become a dual citizen . . .

  4. hey just got back from tokyo myself and i'm a curator as well. too bad we didn't meet up! which gallery are you curating for? how did you get the job and i'm guessing you've got all american artists? i'm interested in doing the same thing over there - i want to move to tokyo for 6 - 12 months but the logistics are up in the air as far as making money (teaching english . . .?) etc...

  5. ah yes! re:up - i work for them - i've co-curated a show there and i write for them - it's a super small space but they do have some cool stuff. i don't think they'll be doing art openings anymore which is a shame. selling art in sd is damn near impossible. it's a shame too. i see too many galleries/boutiques opening and closing because sd is way too mall-driven. i guess it's hard to venture out when malls provide cheaper things...

  6. The show is already up and it looks fucking HOTTTTT!!

Just a little reminder - it's TOMORROW NIGHT! woo hooo!

Hamburger Eyes on Hamburger Eyes (www.hamburgereyes.com)

On February 14th of 2001, Hamburger Eyes Photo Magazine was created. It was an attempt to answer questions about the dynamic relationship between males and females. The term “hamburger eyes†was slang we used to describe the look you had when you found someone you liked, “Dude, you should go talk to that girl, she’s giving you hamburger eyes.â€

When opening our magazine you enter a pictorial history of the unseen and iconic moments of everyday life. As a photo journal, we share our travels and experiences; as a photo diary, we share our accomplishments and heartaches; and as a photo album, we share our families and friends and reach people on a level they have been familiar with since their first birthday party. Our publication is currently composed of black & white photography. Inspired by the traditions that began with National Geographic and Life Magazine, we hope to revitalize the sensation of photography as a craft as well as a tool to record and document. Hamburger Eyes Photo Magazine is published quarterly. We have reached people in Japan, Finland, Spain, and Australia and would like to reach more.

The four founding members of the Cassius King Gallery created the gallery because, as active participants in San Diego's burgeoning art community, they felt their city needed a place where both up-and-coming and established artists could show their work. The gallery provides an excellent space for showing and viewing art.
