Placed my pre-order for the SOA03XXD-0823 in size 32. First Ooe pair, first WW2 pair. I was getting so ready to grab the Full Count 0105 WW2 or the TCB S40s, but I don't wanna miss out on another batch of Ooe going to S&S.

    Where are 0105 ww2 available?

I've noticed that buttons have worn through the fly on a few pairs and wonder if it's better to leave jeans buttoned or unbuttoned before machine washing.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

You search Japanese forums or YouTube videos for this you’ll find that all the denim nerds in Japan say “wash with top button only closed”

I wasn’t sure why, but the wearing thru argument makes sense.

That's too bad. 0105 is a lovely piece of denim art. Probably the best expectation/result ratio for me in a long time. I'm delighted with these jeans. And in a strange way, all the bad reputation FC has had lately, which almost everyone has been talking about, is not only not hindering, but perhaps even helping me. Tired of the customer orientation of the last few decades, and artisans by definition just have to be unbearable.

Interesting. Need to check the pockets entrance and bags of FC.
What do you like about the 0105 so much?

He still hasn’t got over the decision to remove the red tab and arcs.

Maybe that’s it. He was super sensitive. Came in with a stroller, “don’t park there”. Touched a 0105 and asked about size, “don’t touch merchandise” etc. that type of stuff. Just didn’t feel like he wanted to sell anything. Same thing every time I went there, which was only 3-4 times.
Their jeans look great though. Just don’t feel like going in there and supporting him.

A small number of OA's should be available in a few shops today or in the next few days. Check out their IG account for sellers list.

I don't quite understand your problem with FC. People are all different, customers included. I've bought FC products online, from their website too, the service is ok and some issues are handled even better than average.

Go to their Harajuku store. The guy with the long hair and pony tail is terrible. He just makes you feel unwelcome.

i wouldn’t buy online when I can try things on in person.

Warehouse, Freewheelers, Ooe Yofukuten, Full Count.

WH the front pockets seem really shallow

FW on my first pair. 90 days in. Love them so far.

Ooe - I wonder what the hype is about here

FC - tried them on in their store. Generally feel great. Really Don’t like the staff there. That has put me off.

  7. That’s what I thought as well. Maybe the garment is turned rather than the machine reversing. that would achievement the extra strength. I was just wondering…

on back pockets Levi’s seems to have used a full turn machine so they could reverse at the pocket opening for additional strength, hence the back pockets threads are usually not as thick as the crotch or side seams. Maybe it’s a time thing. Garment turning with a half turn machine would’ve taken too much time. Who knows…

Backstitching has been possible on sewing machines since the late 19th century

Correct Duke. As the guy in the video explains. The full turn singer 103 made in germany in 1908 already can go backwards when the lever is pressed. The model after that, the singer 31-20  (1910) is a half turn machine.

Half turn singers, like the one he uses to make his repros, a Singer 31k20  made in 1930 in the UK. That is a half turn machine and runs at a lot slower max speed. hence the tension can be much stronger and it can sew much thicker yarns at strong tensions. Those were used for the crotch/fly parts and the side seems running down from the waist. Those could not go backwards.

  9. Are Freewheeler’s denim made using vintage sewing machines too?
I noticed the side seam on every cut has this reverse stitch at the end. That wasn’t possible with vintage machines. Nearly all other repro brands get this part right. Not that it matters, just wondering. They seems to care so much about other details such as the length of the side seam and the width and shape of belt loops.
I know for their WWII models they stated they focus on quality more than historical accuracy.

  10. I’m selling my Freewheelers 507XX Jacket size 46.
See my previous posts. I just got it at the end of February brand new and wore it only a handful of times. I had size concerns and finally decided to size up to 48, which feels much more comfortable.
I haven’t figured out how to properly list things for sale here but thought I’ll let you know on the thread anyway. I will also put it up on yahoo auction in a few weeks if nothing happens here.

The jacket would ship from Tokyo.
I’m more than happy to add to the package if you need anything from any of the stores here in Japan.
    (29,000 yen + shipping)

    thanks!

  11. Merz B. Tees are not anywhere close to WH.
    polyester threads vs 100% cotton

Merz B. Cotton pilling is very annoying. Looks crappy after just a few washes. (Standards 50s tee)

when I take my tees off I tend to pull more on one side than the other. Most people probably do the same. I found this out by looking at my Merz b. Shirt. It’s 5cm longer on the side I pull more on.
Does not shrink back like other loopwheeled shirts.

one shirt came with two heavy heavy crease lines right in front. I told customer service and they ignored me. Said It’ll go away after a few washes. A year on the lines are still there and customer service doesn’t give a f*KC after having made a sale.

construction is on par with H&M or Uniqlo maybe. Nothing special. Strong plastic threads. Unimpressive fabric that distorts and doesn’t shrink back…
the plastic threads are enough to keep me away from Merz

but they do have a good story  I give them that. Like moleskin and their hemmingway BS story

  12. I noticed a little diaper butt in these 601RB.
waist 36” and they feel like they stretched a ton in the waist. Probably because my son likes to stand on my belt/waist line when I’m holding him.
overall pretty happy with them, although they feel like one of the fastest fading jeans I’ve ever had.
