Oh, thanks Ruedi! Guet Nacht!

That was my fear too, and I didn't want to wear a more or less uncomfortable jacket for months, with fades that no longer fit properly after the first wash.
-
^Of course, wabi sabi for the win. However, I‘ve soaked the jacket cuz it was simply too stiff for my liking. Turned out nice: no bleeding-in, no unwanted crinkles and it shrunk 2-3% (What I had taken into account when choosing the size). The jacket‘s still drying but I can tell it feels softer- fine!

^ you‘re both right 🙂 But don't we all want the ultimate result?

Should I soak my one-wash Sugar Cane 1962 jacket? The jacket is extremely stiff, and I think it will shrink a little—it's better if it's at its final size before wearing it in. However, I want to avoid the indigo bleed-through from the soak to the inside of the jacket, which could turn it blue. What do you think?

Good luck. The T-Shirts become nice and soft after washing. Avoid fast spin cycle and of course the tumble dryer but I‘m sure you already know 🙂 To me they‘re the best- fine quality, superb fit and a reasonable price. Even if I‘m tempted to try a wonder looper 😉

I prefer Whitesville. The Merz b.Schwanen tend to have a strange crease in the chest area. This can also be seen on Carmy: To me Schwanen is overrated (and overpriced), I‘ve recently returned a Sweater because of the unsatisfying quality. Buzz Rickson are far better. Do you‘ve washed the Whitesville? They shrink close to one size with their first wash. Not a big fan of the french tuck btw.

The jacket is great and stiff as raw (it‘s one washed/rinsed). The denim is pretty hairy: I guess it‘ll be more hairy after washing or soaking. I'm thinking about cold soaking the jacket anyway since it's so stiff. What surprises me, however, is the way the pockets are finished inside: Or was it done that way in 1962? 😉 Anyway, fantastic jacket and besides that perfectly made. I love it!

Sold the FOB jacket…I wasn't happy with the fit, even though I think the jacket and its quality are great. I bought a Sugar Cane 1962 instead and couldn't be happier with it! Fits like tailored 🙂

Waiting for a sale on that one

I've already thought about that, of course, but I want to see how it turns out in wear first. It's also a bit complicated, since I'd have to ship the jacket for a chain stitch.

^ The left sleeve after ~ 10 hrs. That is fast creasing 👍🏼 A little bit of „natural tailoring“ happens. I'm thinking about adding a second button to each cuff to tighten them more (similar to the waist buttons). I'll see if FOB can send me some buttons. And man, there's a lot of indigo in there. My fingers are blue 😉

Concerning my Fob jacket- it fits nearly perfect and I love it but the sleeves are still too long for my liking. Dunno why they made them that long 😖 I expect the jacket to become even tighter after subsequent washes, but until then: How much natural shrinkage can be expected in the sleeves due to the creases forming in the crook of the elbows?

The Jacket arrived today and it’s amazing. Nice slubby and hairy denim. Perfectly finished. Unfortunately it‘s roundabout one size too big (size 44, recommended by Cultizm and Fob Factory, I usually wear L/42). Since this jacket is rinsed, how much shrinking can I expect from a hot soak?
