This isn't that techwear reddit but I thought this video's explanatory voice-over by the acronym alternatives guy was well-made and is one of the few acronym videos on youtube worth watching. 

Still, in my personal opinion the GTKP is a cosplay piece and is a sore thumb in this seasons collection as gamer gear.

Anyway, I'm ready for a 3A release featuring this new duffle-backpack. Was let down seeing e using previous szn's 3a-1 for interops demo.

You're correct in that it is slimmer than the j1a, could be due to the fact that it's constructed more like a singular piece than the boxy 1a.
