  1. Do you have the measurements on that prototype that could be compared to the plain vanilla 50s? Who's going to volunteer to model those on us beefy folks?

Thanks Volvo! I just sit a lot at work, which results in very defined combs from the bended knees I guess. The Resolute are pretty slim which causes more combs and friction.

Looking at the amazing pics you've posted the last couple of days the way you sit at work must be a lot more stressful to denim than the way I sit. Great job!

  3. A bit ot: has anyone managed to get any measurements ( サイズ:胸囲約, 肩幅約, 着丈約, 袖丈約) from 2nd? I've requested them a couple of times both in english and in google translated japanese but to no avail. They do not have the measurements up on the site, maybe they do not want the hassle?

He measures wthout the waist band which is another an inch and a quarter

This also true to the 50s and 60s measurements available on tcb site?

  5. I've been eyeing the f-ds001 and 7002w westerns but on the fence as there are no measurements for the bigger sizes (46 most likely) available. The wide version (42-44) might be a better choice according to Ben but again no measurements. Damn!

  6. Sorry for flooding this topic but have to ask one more thing; I like the original japanese arcs better than the western ones but what's the inseam like on those? I'm 6'3" and worried that the japanese 3005/3009 would end up too short after all the shrinkage?

  7. Regarding my earlier question on 3005/3009 sizing, I found some measurements on rakuten also, frisbee in fact (http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/frisbee/item/10003355/). According to them the unwashed jeans in size 36 have a 38" waist. RH say that raw start with the marked waist and SE 2.5" less than marked.

When looking at the frisbee measurements, only size 42 would fit my thighs, this can't be true that they are so slim? Have to say that I'm confused...

  8. Been thinking of picking up some TFH denim, either 3005 or 3009. The sizing is a bit confusing as RH and SE, both whose measurements have been very reliable in the past, have different measurements, say 3009 in size 36 has a waist of 33,5 according to SE and 36 according to RH. Both are unwashed. They measure differently but still there should not be this much difference. Or do runs differ this much in their measurements? SE states that the waist will shrink by an inch, according to RH it will be 1.5". What's your take on this?

  9. Pure Blue Japan, Freewheelers, Full Count, Momotaro, Japan Blue, Iron Heart, Jelado, Orgueil, Studio D'Artisan, Skull Jeans, The Flat Head, Real Japan Blues, The Strike Gold, Warehouse, Stevensons etc...

Lots of leather goods, silvers/hardware and shoes too:

Thorogood, Kawatako, The Flat Head, S.F.K., Red Wing, First Arrow, etc.

I think there is no such shop outside of Japan, at least I've not come up with any. SE, BiG and SoaS come close, but not quite. And this is not even the main store. Jelly.

  10. It is ok that a tag size 34 is 32 in reality in tcbland, just as others might be vanity sized. But it is not ok that the actual measurements that are advertised on tcb site or given by Inoue himself do not correspond to reality. Either the measurements are false to start with or the quality control is lacking and is the reason why there is so much variation between garments.

  11. I've got the 105 (along with a pair of fatigues and an us army overshirt) from Orslow. The 105 cut is nice and roomy with a high rise. Haven't worn them that much yet, just haven't had the time.

It's interesting that most retailers seem to carry the 107 but not that many have the 105. I've also noted that many size charts refer to a size 6 but I've never seen anyone carry this size.

  12. I gotta agree with holio. When you're the importer you know the risks with customs and fees and it's not fair to place blame on the manufacturer over something he has no control over.

My god! Of course I knew the risks that the package might be subject to customs, so I'm not blaming him per se, but I had to pay the costs only because he did give me erroneous information. If he had given me correct information, I would not have ordered in the first place. And if you cannot trust the information given by the manufacturer or retailer, what can you trust? This trust is the basis of all commerce.

Edit: It seems that many take the criticism aimed at Inoue quite personally, but I hope that you realize that not all share the same positive experiences you might have had with him. My aim is not start any flame wars here, I just wanted to report my quite bad experience. I've done that, let's move on.

  13. I shot SoaS an e-mail and asked their measurements for 50s jacket in size 44. They only carry raw and for size 44:

    sleeve length 70.5cm
    shoulder width 47cm
    chest 55cm
    length 71,5cm

They are even smaller than the measurements than the jacket I received, especially widthwise, also in raw:

    sleeve length 68cm
    shoulder width 50cm
    chest 56 cm
    length 70cm

But the washed jacket has these measurements according to Inoue and TCB online shop:

    sleeve length 66cm
    shoulder width 50cm
    chest 58cm
    length 67cm

The one washed has bigger measurements than raw! And not just in one jacket but seems to be common. Just what mondo said above. I don't know what is the reason for this inconsistency but makes you wonder.
