To my knowledge, Retailers don't have to deduct vat. Zero rating is an option when conditions are met.

My point is that they claim that VAT is deducted in their FAQs but that’s clearly not true.

Guess they won’t mind, most items would still be sold out anyway.

Since you did your edit today, I can safely assume that it wasn't you camping the entrance yesterday afternoon praying that they open. Whoever that was, you better be glad he opened the store for you out of remorse lol... congrats on the size M.

For everyone wondering what they have in stock, they still have the black J47TS-GT and both cws of the P23A-S. White J47s and NG9s are gone, NG8s are still in stock and I think the P27-DS. Forgot what else. The J47TS is going to be 2280 + shipping. Yes, for Cali residents, that's around ~2.5k after taxes.

Shoutout to the stores that reduce VAT

    The strangest one is 18Montrose.

Even though they base in UK and state that VAT is not included when shipping to non european countries, their price is comparable to US retailers, if not higher.

Actually I found that the price goes up when you choose non european instead of UK. I really don’t understand how is this called “VAT deducted”, and why are they so different from other european retailers.

Rare acronym sale alert: Bureau is running a 15% off jackets and trousers promo code treat15

    Works on the j46-fo: https://www.thebureaubelfast.com/shop/10163/j46fo-2l-goretex-infinium-climashield

I think bureau deducts VAT too, but not 100% sure.

Random question that I've been searching for for a minute, p17 is essentially the same cut as p23, right? Just without the jersey cuff? I'm thinking of just giving up and getting p17's because I can't find a damn pair of p23's for less than $1k.

Ah ha! No wonder why almost everything sold out all of a sudden at Bureau yesterday...

man puts the J63A up back on the site, but hasn't even sent out my return label. what a joke.

You will get used to it.

They may be slow to response and sometimes does not even bother to reply, but they always fix the issues in the end.

Fine by me, much better than talking tons of shit and doing nothing.

    gonna get details updated later.

How did you clean the oil and dirt? They look good even after all these years.

Personally I am not sure of keeping white J72-DS. I am afraid that it would get stains which are impossible to wash off, and that it would become yellowish as time goes by.

I’m more of a lazy guy and I am serious doubting my ability to take care of white clothes...Any insights from owners of white J72-DS?

When I bought my 3a-1, I knew I wanted the bag for a number of reasons (some of which were aesthetic, but many were practical)—but I had no idea what that waterproof zip on the side of the bag was for. I thought it was a pocket, but I wasn't sure—so I was looking at the pocket number on the product page, and I couldn't figure out where the "last" pocket was. Turns out, the side zip just leads to the main compartment, and I had missed the two "mezzanine pockets" (I didn't understand what those were, and the product pics didn't really do a good job of explaining). I had to come here and ask around. People were kind enough to explain, even though this is literally the oldest product Acronym makes. Should I have lurked more? I have literally never seen a photo or video of anyone using that zip. Ever.

Acronym's website does not always do a good job of explaining features.

Acronym deletes old product listings, so it's hard to accumulate knowledge of older product just from browsing.

You can do lots of research on a product and not learn everything about it. Escape zips are honestly not that important in the grand scheme of things.

Anyways, I was directing my post at a tendency that I see around here—it wasn't really meant for you specifically (I said as much, and I didn't neg rep you or anything).

Wait, where are those mezzanine pockets?

I am starting to wonder if I have missed some pockets on my 3ts.

This is the moment when I loathe some of the members here.

Yes some of us don’t know about fabric differences, some of us never handled jackets with escape zips, and I personally never fully understood how to use hitch tab on sleeves even though it has been explained several times already.

So? Knowing all of those tricks makes you superior or what?

  8. I know this has been asked before but just want to be sure.

All of the FW season is already on mothersite? Drops 2 will be only J65-AK and J65-KM?

I have been waiting for the Stotz cp2...

shout out to @Yoshiii for helping me get a pair of bamba 3 in canada a few weeks ago

thoughts: i'm typically a US 9 / UK 42 2/3 and i went TTS and they fit very comfortably. as for water resistance i've worn them in heavy rain for just under an hour and there was no soak through. i've got to call out the zipper for feeling very finicky, it often gets caught half way up/down and i'm certain i'll have to get it fixed or repaired down the line with how forceful i need to be with it.

The zip on my Bamba 2 has the same issue. Hope that we can find a way to fix it.

Did you take tts in Bamba 2 as well?

Was able to check out several of the pieces in person today; a few of my brief impressions:

J47TS (Black): This actually looked better in person than in the photos, IMO. I already have the J47R so I couldn't really justify it, but trying it on I was certainly sorely tempted. The pockets generally are thoughtfully laid out; I think the left chest pocket is superior to the one on the R version. The one thing I didn't like so much was the collar -- it seems noticeably taller on the TS than the R, and looks slightly awkward to me, at least on my frame. Definitely one of the pieces I liked best, though.

J47TS (White): This did not look as good in person as in the photos. The material seemed like it would dull / discolor / stain easily; just taking it out of the plastic bag it attracted some bits of dust and fibers floating around and they were highly evident against the white background. All-white is admittedly not my style, but even so, I had been attracted to this piece by the photos before I saw it in person. I'm guessing this is one that others might really enjoy, just wasn't for me.

P23A: In the photos, I liked the look of the RAF better; in person I liked the black better (and actually bought a pair). These are definitely cartoony / cosplay-ish, but fun, and more utilitarian than something like the P26 (also a fun pant) given the extra pockets. The seat is kind of ridiculously wide, presumably because Stotz has no give and they're designed to allow you to move freely, but if you have less of a slim frame than I do they'd probably look more "normal".

J63A: The FO fabric looked better in person than I imagined from the photos (more kind of future-synthetic, less pleather), and the hand-feel was slightly different than I expected, but I still can't quite dig it. Design-wise I actually really like the cut of this one, but it's also incredibly similar to an old Vexed Generation leather jacket I have with a full-face zip so I wasn't overly tempted. Definitely the nicer of the FO jackets in my mind, though.

J46: I have the J46U-WS, and it's probably one of the Acronym jackets I wear most often, but I didn't really like this one too much. The lining made it feel kind of "overstuffed" somehow, which is the same impression I feel like the product photos give; combined with the FO fabric I just wasn't feeling it.

J72-AK: This was a standout piece to me, and the other one along with the P23A that I ended up actually purchasing. The fabric is interesting and quite good-looking IMO, and I love the simplicity -- even though it has jacketsling loops attached, and I'm sure the marginal cost of a jacketsling is next to nothing, I kind of liked that they didn't include one with the jacket; the stripped-down cleanness of it (no pockets on an Acronym jacket!) I found strongly appealing.

J74: I only saw this in the white, which looked amazing -- this is the one piece I actually regret missing out on this season. The fabric is essentially translucent, which I didn't quite realize from the product photos, and the way it behaves in the light in the real world is really appealing. The cut is also quite nice, and I like the black contrast details on the white jacket.

You make me regret not getting p23a-s.

I have been waiting for ch version of p23a but now I’m starting to come around that rigid Stotz suits wide pants like p23 very well. The more I look at the photos, the more I want it.

Also I noticed that most of us may prefer DS and CH than Stotz, cos Stotz pants usually sit around a bit longer.

Why isn't this a process Acronym has learned (over numerous years) they need to handle for their customers? Why is it up to me as the customer, after paying $2k+ for a jacket, to then have to deal with import duties (including communicating correct import codes before i get hit with additional fees!^!^). This is a MASSIVE flaw in this business model. Can someone please make an additional thread for Import Procedures. I hate having to self-filter out all these posts when trying to read up on acr sufu.

Man this is part of the fun.

How could you call it a full acrnm buying experience without the import duty procedures?

Nah, they said paypal took too long to clear payment. Ugh.. and seeing them on Grailed makes me sick. If anyone got lucky & doesnt like a dangling zipper in your face, I'll be here.

Keep refreshing, there’s chances items back in stock, as always.

  13. If you placed several orders on mothersite, will they combine the orders, send them out at once?

I have to admit that the postal fee I paid for my orders is kind of brutal...

errolson confirmed there is a hood for the new j1a :D

Personally still prefer the original collar though.

Besides the fabric of new j1a-gt seems a bit different in the photo, maybe just lightning?

  15. The other neck gaiter, NG9-PS maybe, pretty similar to NG3.

And the price of japanese retailers is literally irony af, 3150 usd for an adorable Gore-Tex jacket.

If the era of cyberpunk really comes, I am pretty sure ACRNM would be one of those big companies LOL.

This gets a little tricky when talking sizes of these but I'll make my best attempt. I'm referring to UK sizes, EU gets too messy.

I'd say Bamba 2 pretty much TTS, if say comparing to the usual Nike trainer. I know people have taken half a size bigger in these. My right foots a little snug but the size up is too big.

For me, Bamba 3's run half a size small. I tried it on and it felt a little too cramped on my right foot, albeit okay on my left but of course you have to size for your bigger foot. After a few minutes it did feel a little better but it was just a tad too small. In contrast to this, I know others who took the same size they took in the Bamba 2's...

Correct me if I’m wrong, I thought we’re referring to us sizes when we say Bamba2 is true to size.

    Bamba2: us9.5 uk9 eu43 1/3 jp275

The costs on their end are so similar either way that it doesn't make sense to adjust the retail price. The major reason to move manufacturing out of Canada is volume, not cost; Arc One (Arc'teryx Canadian factory) simply doesn't have enough staff to manufacture pieces at the volume that Veilance is now reaching for. It's very hard to find people with the right skillset to make this stuff; China, on the other hard, is full of factories with highly skilled workers that are happy to produce these garments at a larger scale.

It's not longer that cheap to manufacture in China; you'll note that many mainline Arc'teryx garments are now made in other countries—Myanmar, for example.

The Gore-Tex pieces from Veilance are still manufactured in Canada, but I expect they're looking to switch that over as well.

You are right, actually sometimes I prefer made in China cause the quality is guaranteed. maybe not top notch but good enough most of the time.

But my point is that Arc’teryx set the price too high in China since the beginning, both mainline and veilance.

They need to embrace globalization and do something about it, cause the majority of consumers who can afford Arc’teryx are not stupid. We just buy from foreign retailers.

Why pay 1000 usd for a Mionn IS when you can pay just 585 usd? And I can’t remember the last time I saw Arc’teryx on sale in China, if it ever goes on sale here. I believe somehow they decided to make it more of a luxury brand than outdoor brand on Chinese market.
