  1. Play time was now over so I grabbed Marlowe to head home

    IMG_5224_zpsae6da3e8.jpg

Threw together a salad and it didn't look to hot so no pictures.

Then I pulled of the Dirt Denim to take some measurements and snapped a few pictures while I was at it. First off, here are current B.i.G measurements for the tagged 34 Trophy 1605 Dirt Denim:

    Waist: 36"

    Front Rise: 11"

    Back Rise: 15.75"

    Thigh: 12.75"

    Knee: 9.5"

    Hem: 8.75"

    Inseam: 32"

    And here are the pics:

I love the puckering on the lower half of the pockets from the lining pulling against the denim shrinking

Decided to finish my night like I normally do, with a drink and some music.

Poured myself a Ballast Point sculpin IPA

    IMG_5243_zps055e5e24.jpg

and listened to some Industrial tapes. One is a Nurse With Wound/Hafler Trio collab... classic absurdist sound collage with raw source material from NWW processed by Andrew Hafler Trio. Other tape is a compilation tape called "Slutstationen" released on Swedish label Styggelse. An impressive roster with classic groups like Brighter Death Now, mysterious Swedish projects like Manaic Cop and heavy hitting new comers like Theta. A few dud tracks like Puce Mary but all and all, a very impressive effort!

Tomorrow is friday and i've got some exciting plans after work. See you all then...

  2. Since yesterdays update didn't get posted til today I got back to back updates for y'all. Going forward, i'll try to keep it to one a day...

Had to work today. Wore the dirt denim but i'll spare everyone the wild pictures of me sitting at a computer all day.

After work I stopped to play with one of my best friends...

    Marlowe:

    IMG_5206_zps646b789b.jpg

Marlowe is a 7 month old Boston Terrier and we are inseparable. Since I work in a dog friendly office he is able to sit under my desk all day. Two or three days a week we stop at a great dog park on the way home so that he can run with other dogs, play ball, etc....

Marlowe mad a few friends and they wrestled. All three dogs were under 9 months old so it was a high energy romp.

    IMG_5166_zps0d75491e.jpg

Marlowes friends left and we played some ball. Also wearing my Strike Gold indigo crew neck which I think is coming along quite nicely...

  3. So, this is my first year with enough yard to do a garden and also my first time ever trying to pickle. Decided to do fridge pickles and not bother with processing as I plan to eay em up pretty quick and I wanted them to be as crispy as possible. My garlic which I thought was still good was actually sprouted so I substituted for garlic powder. Not a very controlled experiment but oh well, hopefully they turn out ok.

    IMG_5159_zpsa78d0211.jpg

..and with that I had to race off to bed!

Sorry about the lack of pics of the denim... my wife was out at the Beyonce/Jay Z concert and I was left with my near dead iPhone, but I figured id share my adventure cause it was a great day. Next update will have more close ups, measurements etc...

  4. Then jumped over to Sours and had a 5oz "Grainstas Paradise" from The Rare Barrel

    IMG_5140_zps029e951d.jpg

Followed that up with a "Tart of Darkness" from The Bruery

    IMG_5141_zps6f0d937d.jpg

Then I was going to have a pumpkin sour but the owner talked me into trying the Peanut Butter milk stout. Was expecting pure gimmick but I got to admit it was pretty balanced and tasty! My phone died before I could get a pic of this pour but here is a kind of crappy pic of the tour pair at the bar

    IMG_5143_zps8b0fc51c.jpg

    IMG_5144_zps98ff035d.jpg

So, got home and charged my phone a bit. Couldn't leave Beercraft empty handed so I picked up this beast for the cellar.

    IMG_5145_zps9c7931f5.jpg

Threw on Thin LIzzy, poured myself a Clown Shoes IPA and got started pickling!

    IMG_5149_zps559e7eba.jpg

    IMG_5152_zps600c650d.jpg

Thin Lizzy lp ended so I threw on the Blasfemia reissue I finally picked up. Degenerate Columbian black death metal that sounds like it could fall apart at any minute. Great record!

    IMG_5153_zps2415d14d.jpg

  5. after picking up the tour pair from the post office, I went home and took of the Roys i've been living in and filed em:

    IMG_5132_zps3c3cfb78.jpg

Ok, obviously a joke... they went to the closet though which was a bit painful but that was softened by how incredible the Dirt Denim fit. A bit tight in the waist but the loose weave has plenty of give. The denim is so soft and loose weave, has that comfortable sweatpants type of hand. I think I lucked out with my place in the rotation because these things are at a beautiful place with the grainy whit peeking through and lots of vertical charecter. I have never owned a pair of PBJ and don't know how these stack up but the texture reminds me of what I have seen posted here on some of the better looking PBJ stuff. If it was my pair id hem em a bit but ill have to learn to live with cuffs for the month. Sorry for the awful fit pics, hope the wife can help me get some better ones soon.

    IMG_5123_zps3124152e.jpg

Next I ran out back and clipped two cucumbers from my garden because one was getting way past ripe. I threw em on ice so I could try my hand at pickling later that night.

    IMG_5109_zpse91496a2.jpg

    IMG_5112_zps17e01862.jpg

Then I headed down to my local Bottle Shop http://beercraft.com/'>Beercraft for their 2 year birthday celebration.

    IMG_5133_zps88a66ef7.jpg

The taproom in the back which is normally pretty sleepy on a weeknight was packed, and the backyard was packed as well.

    IMG_5134_zps8f5526ff.jpg

The board was INSANE and I promised myself to only try three but... well...

    IMG_5139_zps06f50d5f.jpg

Started with a 12oz pour of Evil Twins Imperial Stout "Even More Jesus"

    IMG_5135_zps53c0e4ae.jpg

  6. I've had some troublw with my last two pairs of 710XX in the top block, even when the waist is right I still get some mobility issues (like constriction when stepping up into the seat of my truck) so I sized up one here in my preorder from Yuichi (from 34->35) and now that I look at these size charts they appear to be bigger across the board.

    Damn.

Probably should have stuck with the 34...  :(

  7. What an incredible surprise to stop by the PO Box and find my contest jeans waiting for me!  I figured there would be an update that they were shipping. Anyone else get theirs yet?!

The construction, the fabric... the patch. Just incredible! Won't be able to soak em until tomorrow but the raw measurements for size 34 (and plenty of pics) are under the spoiler button.

    Just Kidding!

  8. ^Kiya had mentioned before that Josh sizes down when he models for SE product shots because that's how he prefers to wear them. As a result, the sleeves and waist sometimes hit him higher than a person buying the same product in their "actual" size.

I picked up one of the last (the last?) Stevenson "no choice" paisley shirts in L last week, along with a box of stevenson pocket tees and the last 34 767 Santa Rosa cut. Since my order shipped from two locations, and I picked up the KS1002 on saturday, I had THREE boxes from SE waiting in my PO box on monday evening. It was a pretty awesome and kinda guilty evening...

     IMG_5001_zps437c58b6.jpg

The "no choice" shirt is so much louder than anything i'm used to but I love it. Going to wear it tomorrow for my friends birthday when we hit Lagunitas, Russian River Brew Co, BeerCraft, etc...

    IMG_5010_zps0a3416c5.jpg

    Sorry for awful phone pic,

Thanks again Kiya and all at SE...

  9. I have no problem with people starting when they get em. Eat it while it's hot!

(snip) I myself will be making most of my immediate updates to instagram via #TCBcontest

    ...(snip)

Never had instagram but might need a throwaway account, don't want to miss out on contest updates. Just don't tell my wife and friends, I really don't have any desire to be bombarded with pictures of meals, pets, and children ;)

  10. im going to try to work on 3 cuts for the 75 pairs gonna ask miki san

Well if you can really get him to make multiple cuts than i'd think you'd have no problem moving 75 pairs! You satisfy all tastes this way and even probably get the occasional collect-em-all-extremist who orders all three.

I'm excited and if there is a variation anything like this:

I'd be in for a pair of 1101 with offset belt loop, donut buttons and camo pocket bags in this half 'n half denim.

then you can count me in!

  11. Hey guys! I'm really excited to see this contest take off and for my first pair of selvedge jeans. Thought you might want to see some of the preliminary drafts for the patch! I'm glad to see you love it.

    2r766af.jpg

Welcome to superdenim, and thanks for your work on the patch.

(I'm looking forward to destroying it.)

*(Edit to add a quote of your post since the image should be on the front page :) )

  12. ^^Interested in what details so far? Is there a consensus somewhere that I missed out on?

I'd perk up for 0105 or 1101 in WC w/ offset belt loop but would have to pass on 1108. Either way, can't commit to anything before details are finalized.

  13. ^Congrats. Noticed they sunk to the "SOLD" area of my watchlist. ;)

Thought about buying them myself of course, but that would've been greedy with the 50s coming in and so many other pairs already neglected at present...

    Enjoy em!

  14. ^God damnit, I had a very similar idea last year.  I wanted to start a kickstarter called "quit my job" for $50,000 and then have a stretch goal for every extra $10,000 like "for $10,000 more i'll take a trip to Brazil" or something.

Probably should have done it. Since it was even stupider than potato salad I probably would have made even more money.
  15. ^Even worse actually. Most of these kickstarter companies have really generic heritage word salad but this one seems almost parody in its "they-took-our-job"ness. I got embarrassed and had to stop reading.  :(

I did check out the measurements though for fun. 34" straight leg cut has an 8" leg opening?

"I don't think it means what you think it means."

  16. Your opinion is the most important one of course, but nothing wrong with that fit IMO. Besides, you'll probably have em for years and waistlines have a nasty way of expanding. And look at the bright side... if you're struggling with wearing them in this heat I guarantee you the 33 would have been MUCH WORSE.

  17. I probably should have sized up on my SEDB19 pair because I plan on wearing out my ONI awa-shoai first... but at the rate those are aging it looks like it'll be about 10 years until I get around to the damn dry bones and it'll be a miracle if my waistline stays the same for that long.  :(

  18. Off to Houston now?

I was in Texas for the 4th of July back in 2009... it was a fun place to be except for the damn weather.

    Keep us updated Chris!

  19. Payment sent!

I ended up ordering a Size 34 even though i'm a true 35/36" waist, the difference usually depending on how far the rise goes up my belly. I know this goes against most advice offered in this thread but I am just basing my decision on the raw measurements in the first post (93.6cm=almost 37 inches!), my own past experience with other brands based on my wash regiment, and finally this auction for a 60s pair that is tagged 34 but reportedly measures 35" after a soak and minimal wear. I'm not one to size down usually, but since i'm very short, these roomy cuts can get pretty out of control looking once I hem to my length so the slightly smaller hem/knee/leg on the tagged 34 is what tipped the decision for me. Hope I don't end up with a pair thats too small to wear. I'm very excited to get the contest under way.

  20. <snip>Thursday afternoon I discussed with Lady T whether I could justify more denim... she urged me on, I said I didn't think I could do it.<snip>

Funny, this is the exact opposite version of the conversation I usually have, where she doesn't think I can justify more denim and I have to urge myself on.  ;)

Will be making payment tomorrow after my July 1 paycheck goes into my account. Then I suppose I better mention something to the Wife... wish me luck.
