bakershoe will accept scanned tracings so long as it comes out the same size at the other end!
Yes you can draw around a credit card 2 1/8" x 3 3/8" to make sure that it is printed out to size there end.
Rancourt have the right idea. http://www.rancourta...Fit_Guide-2.pdf

Hahaha, I like this discussion and get both sides of it. Here in the Netherlands the classic timberland is a style icon, like it or not.
Here in the UK Timberlands are the lowest common denominator whos target market appears to be tracksuit clad (velour for the ladies) lowlifes who consider a day at the shopping center a recreational activity.
They are retailed at high street "sports shops" along side other (whats the opposite of aspirational?) brands like Crocs, Bench, SuperDry, Mckenzie, Ab and Fitch and the like. Even there classic boat shoe is retailed this way.
Outdoor/hiking shops recoil in horror at the thought of stocking Tims,

ok, I dont want to talk about Timberland boots anymore. I was referring to what is currently for sale at the mall. Im not talking about their heritage models or what they used to be. Im talking about what they are now, and that in my opinion is crap. Crap, as in they are boots that will service you fine until you have to toss them and get a new pair. I know they were a decent brand at one point, but so was North Face and Patagonia and other brands that did what everyone else had to do in order to turn a profit and keep costs low. Its all made in China sweat shop junk as far as Im concerned. I try not to support throw away brands these days, as it goes against what I believe in. (get off my lawn!!!)

I bought mine when it first came out a few years back - amazing how the price has escalated!
On a shoe-related note, a question for UK boot expert CTB:
Apologies for multiquote fuck up, The Barbour copycat quote came our very own boot expert. No plagiarism intended.

Just glad that I never picked up the Barbour/Tokito model that he's wearing there, even though it did look bloody good on him, as I'd be getting heartily sick of the copycat accusations by now. Although they are now fetching double retail price on eBay at the moment...
Yes I saw that; 1300usd on the bay atm....
Did look good though, I agree. I just got a Pegasus (posted in waywrn denim today) which I'm quite happy with.
Your Islays look very nice btw.
The Barbour has just dropped at End for January pre-order.

Basically it's because I have a friend who's going over to the US for christmas so it's a safe way for me to avoid hefy custom fees. And the exchangerates are really good so I figured I might aswell give it a go.
You need to be a little more specific, Where is he going in the US, which denim, which type-II. Im pretty sure the good folks on here can help you out. Albeit better posted in the "this or that" thread.

I'm looking for a US-site whom has some Red Wing Beckmans available, preferably 9016. Would be a huge + if it's possible to cop a nice pair of jeans or a type II-jacket at the same place. Not really my regular playground so all help is most welcome!
If your in Sweden why does it have to be a US site?. Check out Rakuten jp. through google translator most shops will ship international. If your struggling with the language barrier try Sutocorp or any other Proxy then you can buy from numerous shops and all your items will all be shipped together with combined postage costs,
I do this all the time im in the UK. The world will be your oyster.

Yeah, Come on Crat let us know your thoughts. Im looking forward to hearing what your chosen boot is going to be, or atleast what you have whittled down to a final three.
If plastic bags and elastic bands are there i will be most disappointed.

The Hanwag Goll looks nice and functional; listed.
I'll be using the shoes for fishing so I want to be able to trot through brooks with them and be able to stand in water up to my ankles without getting wet.
This is the kind of dedication that i like... Stood ankle deep in water and still a concern towards aesthetic.
Sir i doff my cap to you.
Would a pair of Barbour wellies in the boot of the car be too practical?

True, bespoke is the most expensive, since an original last is created for you, but I was referring to their MTO program.
At some point tall ass boots was more function than fashion. Maybe someone know a historical anecdote as to what they were for.
Is this historical enough? Circa 1969..
I want all you skinheads to get up on your feet, put your braces together and your boots on your feet, and gimme some of that ooooold' Moonstompin' !!!
In regards to the Brass, Second image down middle row, all very worthy.

God Bless the 70,s!

Anyone else got any maintenance tips to share? Boot best practice, if you like...
I do a little antique furniture restoration, And liberon produce a full pantone of wood colours in pure beeswax, Great for filling scratches in the appropriate coloured leather shoe.

Might as well be called White Klown. Those things are fucking awful.

Instead of something looking like a branding from the 40s it resembles a logo from a 80s nightclub.
Looks like they have been tagged up by some piss poor graffiti artist.

The Klouds certainly divide opinion, Some do look very hard to pull off if not impossible.
These really do float my boat though. A bit of wear alters the profile somewhat.

Sorry i cant post the image must be a copyright thing.
The WK graphic on the side adds nothing to the boot.
They must be producing stock because Mushmans online store carries them.
These are the same Blucher.87 that are for sale at Mushmans but they look far less "dare i say it" clownish. Might be a camera angle thing. The toe looks flatter.

Rather than try to respond to all the different q's about WK ad hoc, I'll try to do an interview of Goto-san. Plan is to post it at Denimbro.

But you can PM here if you have anything you'd like to put on the question list.
Bravo Old Bean, Jolly good show!

Indeed,
I like to see photos of the boot makers at there workbench, All the leather workers tools on the benches that have been handled by artisans for years, all the scraps of waste leather, coffee cup rings, the products and potions they use and just general surroundings of the craftsmen.
Im thinking a "craftsmen post pictures if your workbench" thread could be the order of the day.
Im always amazed how beauty comes out of such unkempt surroundings.

I would have taken some pics at the shop, but my camera skills are no match for their very low lighting. And, at the restaurant, it was more a matter of trying to squeeze in thru the little genkan while taking off yer boots, hurdling other boots and boot taker off ers, and trying not to fall backwards down the stairs.
I'll see if I can get some pics of worn boots though. Fujita-san at Mushmans has a nice worn pair of WK's in Badalassi Cognac at the shop I can snap a few pics of for sure.
The oxfords are between 80-90,000 Yen, but you can probably lop off 5% of that as unnecessary sales tax.
HOWEVER, if I were considering a pair of WK's, I'd be equally considering a trip to Japan. Having gone through the custom fit process and talking with Goto-san, it definitely seems more than a little mottainai to not get a custom fit on these.
Sorry man, The image i have in my mind of the 40 pairs of boots may differ from the actual sight of them in the crowded genkan.
If they were not surrounded by an ethereal glow it is nothing like i am picturing.
Is it just a one man operation, Any idea how many pairs of boots a year he produces?
How long has he been in business, What is his background?
Sorry about all the Q,s i am just taking the rare opportunity for some education.
Photo,s from the workshop would be a grail.

I have a hard time thinking of Red Kloud's stuff as boots and not some kind of leather art. Probably because I've never seen any worn-in. The level of perfection and neatness triggers some kind of uncanny valley response in my brain...a sight to behold, but I'm not sure I want them on my feet.
I want them on my feet!
Would love to see some nicely aged White Klouds.
Ishmael j. Im looking at you, If anyone on here can post some photos of worn klouds you can.
The words photo project and proxy service spring to mind.
You cant describe a line of 40 boots without a photo to accompany it what kind of sick twisted individual are you.
Im only jealous because i dont frequent such restaurants. Marvelous info!
