  1. Designers typically put out collections only bi-annually. I don't think that if designers produced the same collection of garments for 3 years in a row, that it would use up any less resources...

how many of those garments are made

now count how many designers exist globally

now count all the fast fashion (H&M, Gap, Zara, etc.)

    the fashion industry is HUGE.

  2. I think what fucks people up is the elitism

people disregard what they like most, what makes them feel most comfortable to appeal to the 'universal standard' of good style

we need more democratization, less advertisement, etc.

plus, the fashion industry is extremely unsustainable; the fact we have new styles of clothes coming out every second using up natural resources can't be good for the environment-- you certainly can't be making the BEST quality goods at a mass scale. And to be honest, I think the only reason the system persists is because we're used to it, not because we want it. I think everyone wants quality clothing that makes them look good

  3. top sandwiches you've ever eaten?

your favorite sandwich to make at home?

    best sandwich in a city?

-best sandwich ever used to be in Pacific Palisades at Mort's Deli; the juicy pastrami was stacked bigger than my head, the bread was house-made... it's a pitty the place closed down a few years ago since Mort moved from L.A.

then I used to go to a torta stand when I lived in Tijuana, made by some 80 year old master named Chuy-- carnitas, pierna, chorizo, etc. maybe it was the dirt on his fingers, but something in those sandwiches were magic.

finally, in Puerto Penasco (rocky point), Sonora, Mexico, there used to be a cuban restaurant hidden in the maze of dirt roads (hence why it closed down), and they made the BEST ropa vieja in the world; I got ballsy and asked them to make a jibalito (a puerto rican dish where instead of bread, they mash and fry plantains into patty-buns)-- they obliged, and, dulce bebe de dios, that saucy bastard was on par with Mort's pastrami (though they're different kinds of amazing, imo).

-my favorite sandwich TO MAKE is a french baguette, pesto spread, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, capicola, prosciutto

get that shit from trader joes.

-if you're ever in Chicago, the beef at Al's is delicious; The Bourgeois Pig has a sandwich called The Sun Also Rises (yes, after Hemingway), which is a minimalist masterpiece; Cemitas Puebla is incredible. Yo, if anyone has some suggestions in Chicago, feel free to suggest-- I've only been here for a year.

  4. The pope thing was just a joke, i didn't think you were a catholic biggot, just a biggot whose beliefs i couldn't really care less.

Your reasoning is so flawed i don't even know where to start.

using the term 'gay community' still would've made your analogy wrong

    guy

    how so?

  5. People choose to be gay? amazing. are u friends with the pope?

Go back to the drawing board and try to come up with a not retarded comparison.

look, I don't think either of us are experts on the origins of homosexuality--whether it's a choice, a gene, circumstance; nature, nurture, coincidence, etc. I choose to look at sexuality as there being no sexuality: there is only sexual acts. If you suck a dude's dick, that's a homo-sexual ACT, not an act between homosexuals.

ironically, this was the roman (read: pre-constantine) belief up until the catholic church took over and began canonizing, demonizing sodomy, etc.

that being said, I said 'queer community' as an umbrella term for those who commit these 'homosexual acts', who may prefer the same sex over the other sex for whatever reason.

so, yes, I stand by the fuckin' analogy because it works--go find a better argument than, "lol he thinks being gay is a choice that makes him a catholic biggot lol what a retard" to justify your dissent, buddy.

  6. -more motivated

    -more focused

    -more organized

-feeling deserving of better (there has to be a better phrase than this...)

I feel like those three things are the keys to the world--my world, anyway. Would let me read more; use time in the day better; stop moping, etc. Get myself a job, get myself an apartment, send checks back home.

    Yeah.

  7. do you people think im kidding? don't get me wrong i like rick owens but a lot of it looks like mall-goth x 90s "urban lifestyle" brands. big sneakers, baggy shorts and sweatpants, tank tops, oversize tees, etc.

    yo, I agree with you

obviously I'm not the most popular, especially not with fits (even excluding the piss-takes I've done), but I think if we all stepped back we could see how ridiculous some of this stuff looks--glorifying sweatpants and dunks, for chrissake, mang

that's the shit I put in my PE locker; had to cringe when I put it on because it smelt like gorgonzola.

  8. I haven't been able to write any good music or literature since my father died a few months ago

it's like his death and my subsequent breakdown prompted my mind to put a block on my stronger emotions (creativity) to save me some pain

but even with that block it still sucks. and I can't even write about it.

  9. this might be a shit you hate or whatever

but fuck the system which makes it necessary for me to waste my time in useless classes in order to get a piece of paper which is supposed to 'prove' that I'm an expert on something-- what sort of expertise is that?

I was trying to minor/2nd major in Marketting/Advertising, but all they're 'teaching' are obvious observations about the dynamics of buying, selling, promoting, etc. prettied up with industry-jargon-- most of which a 15 year old with a job at McDonald's could tell you.

And goddamn it I'm not willing to sit there as a school pays a teacher to tell me what I already know with the money I'M PAYING THE SCHOOL. For chrissake. And whaddup with this bullshit-- you don't have tests to skip classes? Are you serious? This just proves you WANT students to take bullshit classes so you can make more money off them. And, yeah, I went through AP and a few other tests to skip electives/LAS courses, but it ain't enough; still gotta sit through *mostly* uninteresting classes with uninteresting, un-enriching professors.

and then you bastards want to UP my tuition because you've got your head so up your ass you don't understand economics, and that the PRICING isn't the problem ALLLL the time, and maybe you're letting in too many goddamn students who shouldn't be here on too manny goddamn scholarships? Lick my ass

    sdfjslkgdnbfkjgbkdjfgbksdfg

    yeah, I mad.

  10. precisely.

to say that because we do not know things in of themselves is a lie-- we just do not know them completely. We continually observe in an effort to improve our 'definition' of the things around us; Nietzsche brought up a point similar to this where science has only brought us a more detailed view of the world-- science/philosophy have evolved our thinking like television screens have: where the image on the screen has become continually sharper, better 'defined', we look at things in of themselves clearer as we analyze them more.

Also, 'meaningful' is a relative term, inextricable from 'pragmatic.' It implies that information, and discovery has an intrinsic value-- this is inaccurate. We build the value in. So if you want to debate whether or not something is a 'meaningful' discovery, you must first define what you consider to be valuable and why.

    Personally, I'm just curious.

"I don't really believe you can ever make meaningful discoveries by just using a bunch of big words which relate to other big words, which have in and of themselves been created out of consciousness, the thing they were trying to describe."

Consciousness is not an object in the sense an apple or pear is-- it is not a factory which shits out big words. It is the frequency of human thought, quite literally 'the human experience'. Are you telling me we can't analyze something that we're experiencing?
