  1. Robbie - double volante uses Waldes zippers (if requested) on pairs of their denim. I have a pair on the way with a selvage lined Waldes zipper. They're supposed to be pretty damn good, from what I've read from Mizanation.

I know they placed zippers on earlier denim, and are still making a lot of those zippers. The selvage zippers they make are supposed to be 100% cotton, so they fade w/ the denim.

Hit the double volante thread up for more info. I'm sure Mizanation could secure you a new Waldes zipper. K san has like 4 or 5 he has access too.

    Hope this helps.

  2. to everybody that has posted pics, thank you.

I still need to post mine. Since I've been rotating them with two other pairs, mine haven't seen a lot of wear, but I'm loving them.

It's interesting that a lot of people that have them seem to have purchased pairs with the waist bigger than the size guide has listed.

If Kiya ever checks this thread, maybe he can speak on that.

Even though the waist on mine were massive as well, I found a non-soap wash with a couple pots of boiling water thrown in for good measure worked wonders.

I'd definitely suggest that to anybody else that is experiencing oversized waist issues.

  3. I have a pair of Double Volante's that were shipped yesterday(?) I believe, from Japan.

if those, for whatever reason, weren't to turn up they would be my second pair in a row affected by natural disaster.

either way, lives are being lost. obviously, it goes without saying that thats whats most important.

  4. Freak - yup, I copped the same pair for the same price, with the same discount. : )

been wearing mine for around 4 months (occasionally rotating in my SEXFHXRR10's and FH4001blk's), and they look great. really suprised actually, because I've had a number of pairs of regular Levi 501 STF's and the selvage ones are much better (the fit and denim, more specifically). if you can get them discounted to end up paying around $60, I think they are the best bang for your buck.

pictures soon..(need to make good on this finally)

  5. b_F - understandable, I've heard a few people around here state that they didn't really like the rivets. I just think they give a rugged look on 21 oz. denim.

the pocketbags are Okinawan bingata. hand made/dyed and, from the pictures, I'm very pleased with how they turned out. like the denim, they too, will fade over time.

the red tab on the coin pocket, red fly j stitch, two red outter stitches, and the red Double Volante tab inside the back waist were meant to compliment the red-lined selvage zipper (not pictured)

back has selvage chambray lined back pockets with custom SMXDV leather tab, Okinawan steerhide leather patch, and custom arcuates.

  7. WOW, I need a pair of those.

Been waiting for something like these for awhile now.

Kiya - Did you happen to see the denim for the Ande Whall contest that was decided on? (before the earthquake put the contest on hold) It was a greencast indigo with beige weft. the weft was much lighter than these Strike Gold, but is what intrigued me about them.

can you share how much the Strike Golds above will cost?
