  3. Horween Cxl is great, don't doubt it,

regardless of what Ed's (demonito) opinion (I PM'ed Ed about this way back, wanting to learn more, and respect his opinion) i think his boots just didn't live up to what he wanted them to... and so he is not down with Cxl.

i still made the choice to have my Whites and Vibergs made in it.

i loved that Cxl leather on my Whites BH's, and I have a pair of Viberg oxfords that use it as well.

it is a lush leather, very pretty, oily, vintage feeling, rich brown undertones hidden under the black,

i went nuts for a few months collecting all the leather sample swatches from the various boot companies (Whites, Wesco, Viberg, ect) putting them throughout my own scratch + abuse type of tests and also spent time on many calls with floor workers about the overall leather quality, break in, durability, waterproofing, ect.

and besides it being an easy leather to scuff, no-one really had anything bad to say about it.

    lets just be real here.

most folks on this board (myself included), are not gonna put any real extreme hurt on a boot made in cxl or any other high end leather.

unless you really are one of those Loggers or Linemen. then possibly.

there are Red wings some-20-years-old out there, with what some might consider (in comparing to their Whites,) a lesser quality Cxl leather then what is available from Horween..

and those RW's are still holding up, and in my opinion functional and looking good.

and my Cxl oxfords are just as hot or not, as my Alden cordovan LWB, or Trickers in the summer.

    no difference to me.

it is more of a feeling what feels right for the day..

so i really think it is a subjective taste thing.

wear what you lust after, and love it.

  4. hi ya'll

can i ask, which model # type 3 style jacket were or still made with side hand-warmer pockets?

im in the market for XS new, or dead stock, LVC, levi, lee, wrangler, flathead, samurai,

something worth wearing for the years.

thank you for any help or sugestions

  5. In short time, I'm planning to expand the boot collection

with a pair of White's Smokejumpers or Lone Wolf "The Wireman"

Anyone know how to size, compared to these sizes?:

    I'm wearing US-8D in all my Redwings (9010 GT,1911GT, 8111 IR and 8112 IR)

    UK-8G in Clarks Wallabees.

i wear an 8D in Whites and an 8D in my Redwings.

but regardless, you should have your feet measurements sent to Whites for your first time dealing with them.

they will know best, and keep it on file.

    Trickers | Burford | Marron | UK 7

    from the Country Collection

    original price was ($500)

    4497 last

in the classic Trickers Marron calf leather

    with the back strap

    double leather sole

    UK size 7

the width is a STANDARD 5 fitting

Complete with original box with dust bags and cloth wrap

i purchased these boots last month, Nov 2011 have worn them a few weeks, and I don't like the sizing for my particular high arch and instep foot type.

i really wanted to love these, and it pains me to give them away at such a steal.

    please read!

let me put it on the record and as you can see from the photos,

that these boots have had a rubber "toppy" glued over the leather soles,

    new rubber heels put on,

along with a 48hr cobbler stretching in the width to help with the initial break in.

also, i have had an original stitch removed and re-sticthed on the left foot boot by the same cobbler.

you can see this also in a photo.

    thank you!
