  1. That's interesting, I would not have guessed that at all. The jeans were just unremarkable in all ways, especially considering how much they were

Also, is it true LVC has been discontinued by Levi's? Heard this from a number of sources. Sad if true

^ What do you mean - the denim’s not as good? The construction? Other materials? Everything?

I bought a MiJ Type I in late 2022 but have jet to wear it, however, it looks great to me (denim, other materials and construction), although I don’t have a LVC Type I to compare it to.

Just in general, so yeah everything. But again I don't have any first hand experience with LVC MiJ stuff, so this is purely speculation. I could def be wrong, and in fact would be glad if that were the case. Good to hear you're happy with the MiJ jacket you have tho, that gives me confidence to buy

All I know is the made in Turkey 1984 501s I bought from American Rag were drastically bellow the Cone jeans I have. Like everything, from the denim to the hardware to the construction was atrocious compared to MiUSA LVC

How are the Made in Japan pairs currently being sold by LVC? are these up to par vs the Cone made ones of the past?

I'd imagine they're not Cone level good, but better than Made in Turkey. But I don't have any first hand experience. Would be great to hear from people that do

  4. Has anyone here ever tried to take the hidden rivets out a pair of their jeans. I have a pair of 900s and love them, but the rivets on the back pockets serve zero function whatsoever and I'd like to get rid of them if possible. Feeling around a little it seems like there is only one side to the rivet, so it might just be a matter of taking some pliers to the inside of the rivet and pulling them out.

@dotcomzzz what size are you thinking of getting?

If the measurements on their site are true a 33 or 34. But I've never worn Warehouse before and have no idea how much to expect them to shrink/stretch. I'm rocking some cone denim levis 511s rn in a 34 and they fit perfectly if that helps.

@dotcomzzz they’re great, thanks for reminding me that I bought them. I did give them a cool wash and they barely changed (even the length) and I think they stretched back pretty quickly. I’ll put up some measurements when I get back, I think they need a proper hot soak.

Right on, yeah let me know what the measurements are because I'm def getting a pair, just need to nail down the size.

  7. Welp, I snagged some cone mills 511s from the bay. Not gonna lie, they are infinitely better than the '84 lvc made in Turkey 501s. Everything about them screams quality. Outside of the shortish front rise, I could not ask for anything else in a pair of jeans.

I've also been looking at original '84 501s. Non selvage, but I don't care. I am curious however about the difference between the regular shrink to fit versions and the 'student fit' version. Anyone know?

Ive got some orignal 78s on ebay at moment.

I'm a size 34/36, and didn't see anything in that size range. but thanks for the head's up. Bought a pair of cone 511's tho, which I'm hoping will fit. I'm just curious how the denim fades and proud to wear some miusa levis :)

LVC not made in the USA kind of defeats the concept of LVC, its kind of Fake Levis.

Yeah I agree 100%. Btw if you or anyone know where to score a pair of 78 501s that would be appreciated. Atm I'm watching ebay like a hawk, but also realize anyone who knows what they have will try to sell them for a bundle.

  10. To echo @SF2Turbo,that price is crazy for any non Cone version. Very steep for what you get. I grabbed two pairs of 84 501s from American Rag and used a code last week, which brought the price down to somewhere around $220 each. And while I'm super happy with them, in my view it's still pricy for denim that's nowhere near Cone quality. But the fit is perfect, so I can hardly complain.

Anyway, it would be super sweet if Levis started making their jeans in the US again. At the very least the LVCs. Like through Railcar or something. It would be interesting to see what happens if that came about. I'm sure the denim wouldn't be exactly the same as Cone's, but it would def be light years better than where they're making LVCs now.

Mine lost about 1cm in total after a few washes. The always stretch out to the measured size if not a little more

word, thanks. Does anyone know where to get slim 60s? So far stuf-f's is the only place i can find that has stock on a size 36 and i wanna go without hidden rivets
