  1. Unless something comes along before November that catches my eye, planning on going with these. Grabbed a second pair of '76s after getting 30% off and selling off three old pairs of jeans.

i can see how loads of slub, pink weft, and super loose woven 25 oz are a bit too much (or, for me, way too much)...but what's wrong with left hand twill?

I think he's just throwing that in as an example of trying to randomly cram every possible feature into a pair of jeans, hoping one or more of them will be enough to get someone to buy them.

Wondering what is people's opinions on patches on denim jackets?

I like to have some sort of decoration on a denim jacket. Had this chained stitched patch of my dog made by Tina Vines. Will probably at other hunting or setter related things to it at some point.

  4. Yeah, I've gotten away from cuffing my jeans. I associate cuffs with a certain era, fits, and styles, and prefer a more regular fit and style that basically goes with anything in my wardrobe.

A chainstitch hem and roping is nice, but it creates a raised area for early and heavy wear. My 76s are wearing there early, and it's demolished on my 1001s.

  5. If those are a pair from the small run of 1004s from a couple years ago, I'm pretty sure they were a lighter weight denim.... 7x10 or 7x11 or 7x12 (though I could be remembering wrong). I found the Tumblr posts about them, but the WH page they link to is gone.

  6. Not exactly 66s, but the LVC 76s (which iirc represent 501s from '72 to '77) aren't wildly different from late 60s 501s in shape. IMO they give a closer approximation of a late 60s/early 70s 501   than anything anyone else is making, without any goofy proportions or exaggerated details.

  7. Three washes, including initial. A little dryer time the first two washes, but won't be doing that anymore since they crease easily along the length of the inseam. Not really an issue on the right leg, but with the twist on the left it could make a mess.

  8. Nothing too wild with puckering along the seams. Roping at the hem is surprisingly strong.

These are becoming my current favorite. Little bigger in the thigh than I like, but everywhere else is great. And with continued weight loss, my WH 800s are a little big in the waist with wear (gone have to wash them more often than planned) and the 76s are more comfortable since they're a little smaller.

  9. Yep, no shrinkage after the first wash. Not sure the water's actual temperature, but it was most likely on the cool or warm setting. I threw them in the dryer for 12 minute to help them along in finishing up drying. BTW, this denim gets fold lines along the inseam from the dryer very easily! Be careful!

will try to get some pix, not much to see yet.

  10. Couple observations about the standard '76 501. Had to wash them twice last week after being out in the rain meant mud up the knees. There was no further shrinkage, so the initial wash did the trick. They start out a lighter shade of blue than the rest of the lvc 501s, and lose indigo easier. The two trips through the wash lightened them, especially  noticeable in sunlight but not as much indoors. I don't think I have 30 days of wear into them yet, but can see wear starting here and there. I think they'd be wash out pretty quickly with a high rate of wash, so if you want contrast you might want to hold out a little longer with these.

  11. I notice BiG is down to just a handful of sizes in the 660 and 900. I hope their relationship with WH isn't dissolving.

On a side note, I see they're coming out with a collab with Oni. Why is this brand so popular recently? They've been around for years, but seem to have gotten way more popular the past two or three. I don't get the sudden interest.

    Thanks @propellerbeanie

So, I just got an update from BiG on the replacement of my defective pair:

I reached out to BiG a few days back since I hadn't heard anything in a while. I said if Warehouse was having trouble finding another pair of the lot 800 that I would be fine with a lot 1001 (based on what I saw on Warehouse's website the measurements looked very similar in a tag size 31). So...when BiG reached out to me today they told me that Warehouse could not locate a lot 800 in a size 31 and that a lot 1001 is now inbound. Was I correct that the 1001 will fit similar to the 800? How do the fabrics differ between models?

Comparing my size 36 800 and 1001, the 1001 will be have a little less front rise, and be a little bigger in the seat, hip, and thigh.  Unless your 800s were big on you, the 1001 should be fine.  The only issue might be inseam.  1001 shrinks to around 31 to 31.5".

1001 is made of the 1001 "banner" denim. It will be a little lighter weight than the 1000XX denim your 800s were made out of.  1000XX goes to white easier in the worn areas.  Worn areas in the 1001 denim will keep a blue cast.

Both are excellent cuts and denim. My perfect WH pair would be the 800 made out of 1001 denim.

Again, one of my favorite pairs in this contest. Just great.

    Thanks!

After getting to work and seeing this photo on a PC rather than my phone, I got some practicing to do.

    Shared onto Instagram, to @setterpie

looks better there, but contrast and color still isn't what I want.  With the grey/soft blue cast of the worn areas rather than a stark white, I have trouble getting accurate results.

Edit to add another shot, see if it looks any better.
