  1. Weird. I've had mine up for sale on supermarket for years now, and nobody's taken a look.

It's a really cool jacket. I'm surprised deadendpro found it too small. I found it too big. There are gussets on the back for real ease of movement, and there's pleating next to the plackets on either side so there's a lot of give. Check out my sig if you're interested. Pics are not accurate for color, it's closer to what dkatz has.

nah man, i meant that i found the jeans too small. i never encountered the jacket in person.

  2. ^ the denim on the MJxW jacket was pretty sick. i was mad that they did not have my size when i saw the jeans and if the jacket is of the same material it is worthy of some evolution and wear. if you have a way of getting it i would not hesitate. just make sure you size correctly, i know they seemed smaller than tagged when i looked at the jeans.

  3. I had assumed you guys would post it up that they arrived as soon as u got em

No new jeans hits the online store on the same day they arrive. Pictures and measurements need to be taken first. Always takes a couple of days.

Exactly, when the Inazumas from Flat Head came in over a year and a half ago they were low on stock by the time they were put up online. and they didnt last very long after that. haha, and you are lucky that Kiya was kidding, or else that would have commenced some ironic hilarity. lol. best of luck getting them.

  4. no, we were just confused since you said you liked the fit..most Iron Heart denim ranges from $350 - to $450 - so these are right in the middle...but they are worth every dime

I do not agree with this at all... you get WAYYY more than what you have paid for. Busters, designed for life.

  5. Perhaps it is just me but i feel that it is easy for me to trust Kiya in a situation like this. He deals with or has dealt with arguably the top brands coming out of the Japanese Denim market (Flat Head, Iron Heart, Samurai, Toyo/Sugar Cane) and its been his profession for many years now. all of the collabs coming out of SE have been hits and everyone working under the Self Edge umbrella is keen on what to do with your jeans and how to size and what not. Just like Gordon at BiG i think that you can take his word on what he has dealt with for the past few years, day in day out. It is sad to see that one of our favorite brands has been dropped by one of our favorite stores, but in the end it is a business for both sides. If people still really like the cuts that Skull has to offer there will be plenty of opportunities out there to get yourself a pair (BiG, Take 5, Rakuten) so you should have no worries in that department. But speaking from experience, handling a pair of the 6x6 5507's 2 years ago when i first desired then and then actually purchasing a pair more recently from the San Joaquin stock there was a huge difference. the denim did not have that initial super crispness i remember from their older stock of a couple years ago, the jeans have more of a sheen on them, and they are less hairy/slubby from what i remember from late 07 early 08.

  6. I would really like to see some pictures of the apparent 'issues' with the recent batches of Skull Jeans.

Just what exactly are the problems?

Kiya mentioned specifically that due to what he feels was a denim that was not of the same quality he came to expect, along with super inconsistent shipments of the product, he decided to no longer carry Skull. I vaguely remember something along the lines of Skull switching the mill to another to make them the jeans and thus the quality/denim/handywork now being different. you can probably find more info earlier in this thread and in the SE thread.

  7. Isn't there a marathon thread or something for this conversation??? IH thread keeps derailing...

FYI, DICK TIGHT IH's ARE WHACK!!!

    Lando hates Cockfadezzzzz

Hello everyone this is kind of a repost from the small question thread from a few weeks back because I didn’t really a definitive answer so… I'm relatively new to denim... I only own a pair of nudies and they are so thin at the knees that they have begun to rip savagely, there for...after much consideration I plan to grab a pair of Iron Hearts and owe this all to all the amazing post from the Iron Heart wearers on this thread. Now I’m completely sold on heavy weight unsanforized japanese denim! GO HEAVY OR GO HOME! haha:D and now I also share the same passion that many of you have for the beauty of the natural patina that high quality denim and leather goods develop after years of love have been put into them. The idea of these products outlasting me is mind blowing! And the fact that these items are truly a product all our own is simply amazing to me! But I digress...

I am specifically grabbing a pair of IH666s's on Feb 10th when they finally get them in at SESF but I am still confused about what size I should get.

My true waist is 29" and I am looking something that is flattering all the way down, that is relatively tight, but not plastered on. I am willing to size down and fight through a few weeks (possibly months?) of uncomfort for them to stretch for a perfect fit. I’m confused because I want to know when trying them on in store should compensate for the hot soak and grab a size that is a little bigger or just grab a size that looks good then and there?

Also is there consensus for the initial hot soak?

Would most recommend letting them dry on you, hang dry, or something else...?

Also for how long and how hot? I’ve seen from as hot as the faucet allows to boiling...

Thank you any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

what is your nudie size? if your true waist is 29, then go tts for a little more relaxed fit or go down one for a slimmer fit. if you can head in to a SE and try them on it would be your best bet to the perfect fit.refer to this sizing guide and you shouldnt go wrong. but keep in mind IH stretches like a mad man.

  8. question to you iron heart wearers, but more towards the 301 wearers since i like my jeans slim:

how is it wearing such heavy denim? i cant imagine wearing denim so thick, but with a 500+ page thread that has no blatant/consistant complaints, i can see that you guys like the denim. is it because you like the way it looks and just bare the slight discomfort, or is it just a lot more comfortable than it sounds? thanks

they are the complete opposite of uncomfortable. Simon626 (above me) was able to wear a pair of jeans 2 sizes smaller than he would normally have with his 301s and never once complained about anything aside from the initial tightness. dude, these things are heavy, sure, but its not a difficult or really noticeable thing. you'll forget they are so warm, even in 80+ degree weather.

  9. even after a soak, those will continue to bleed.

shouldn't be a big issue, especially since you enjoy the stains anyways.

on a side note, what's with the skinny jeans + clunky sneakers?

    i never understood this...

hahaha, i respect Simon's decision to make his feet look larger than life. i know that the low profile and streamlined look of eras or chucks on slim cuts is the most visually appeasing combination but sometimes you just have to forgo looks for something that will be really comfortable, and 3's are up there in comfort. that said, i would not constantly wear big loaf sneakers with stick leg jeans.

  10. Just received my IHSH-17 - thinking i should give it a good warm soak to soften it up.... any reason i shouldnt?

it wont really soften up with a soak alone, it would probably be best to do the soak and very low tumble dry. i wore my 17 for about 7 months before washing it and hang drying and the shrinkage was pretty small. it wasnt really any softer than when i first received it but then again i did not dry in a dryer.

  11. ah, just did the drive to the la store and they didnt have them in stock! any word on when you guys might restock?

also, if i order online, can i take it instore for free hemming?

if you ordered them online they will give you free shipping, and that is where the free-ness ends i believe. but if you buy them at SELA you can get the free hemming and then go pick them up / pay for shipping. either way, i think you have to pay...

apc's got a fair bit of starch in them. as for nudies, it all depends what cut/denim you are trying to compare them to. The 301's have a deep indigo, as do all of the classic 21 selvedge jeans from IH. IF you were looking to throw some sheen on them, starch them up (though i know most of my IH Cult brethren would consider it sacrilege) but if not, you will not be disappointed with the denim whatsoever! is you have any doubts, look at any of the faded pairs of either the 301s or the 634s'. they use the same denim. best of luck with your decision

  13. i dont know why i am re-bringing this up, but bobby (Evilcrayon) is like 6'1" max. and its because of his general build that the jeans are very flattering on him. broader shoulders tapering down to his danner boots. umm, no homo.

so this is answering the question as to why the jeans look perfect on him. not to mention that because he is a local to sesf he can try on any size prior to purchasing.
