  1. I second everything except I'm guilty of liking FMJ and early Jarmusch. Also, there is ONE Korean director worth watching; Hong, Sang-Soo. Reminds me of Cassavetes.

    I'd like to mention:

    * 2046

    * Fincher

    * Tarantino

    * People thinking DeNiro/Pacino automatically makes a movie better

    * post goodfellas Scorsese although these aren't really that highly regarded

    * and any Aronofsky

    2046 is a good crash course in WKW-ism, and I don't mean that as a compliment. The only works of his that really hit me were Days of Being Wild and Happy Together.

    Tarantino's works are good within the context of the time they came out. But yeah I don't think it ages so well...loved RD and PF back in the 90s, dont wanna watch em any more, Kill Bill floored me when both came out, would not want to give them a second viewing.

    I think the last good movie in either De Niro or Pacino's catalogue is Heat. I hope the Pacino Salvador Dali vehicle redeems him...oh yeah he wasn't bad in Insomnia. Doesn't matter to De Niro since he's a real estate mogul-cum actor rather than other way around these days.

    and i still look forward to seeing The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke is my hero.

    oh yeah another addition i have to the list:

    - HK cinema in general. Apart from the work of a few directors, in general I don't see the fuss.

  2. re: francis vs. orion (which im not familiar with besides the post at the top of this post)

    good mother of batman you've got to be shitting me ... bowels opening up to embrace the toilet of mankind worse than full blown AIDS-on-AIDS in a public john captured in the distinct hue of Chris Doyle's lenses.

    now what you see through these Millionaire emblems, coffee and cigarettes got you doin the one man handshake tremblin. he got a million dollar watch but can't give you the time of day let alone some spare change. Pharrell gettin plastic surgery skin all shades of violet, like that J. Crew cashmere featured by GQ stylist, and Kanye's brain has gone through the wire, all we left with is Nigo rockin a Black Fleece like even HE'S ready to call it quits and give Wall Street a shot, what is this, 1986 where the only thing that matters is coke, stocks, cunts and cocks?

  3. A lot of girls at my school who joined sororities have beer bellies now. Its amazing how fat they got in such a short period of time.

    not only that, but they fart more and their bedrooms smell like overused flip flops, you know, the kind with a slight platform that has the text 'Smells like Couture'

    i'll pass.

  6. http://www.cipherism.com/

    i dunno about this shit. what happened to the reggay themes and shit? not hating that much...anything to make a buck i guess. alittle disapointed is all.

    yo jmat

    based on those pics, that shit looks like it would have a market here in HK...it's definitely wack, but not nearly as bad as Acupuncture, which has acquired quite a steady following. problem is i have never fucking heard of this dude before or seen his shit anywhere. Sham Shui Po??!?!

  7. so whatcha got for me' date=' check your mail. [b']You may not like it, and it's not for everyone, but the whole Wu-tang clan does[/b].

    like you said, I got connects, mad connects....you don't even know, but as i was saying this was more a personal thing then a: I'm gonna make the most amazing, super fashionable shoe in the world.

    peace man, you got shoes, or do you design for someone?

    Cipherman

    LMFAO...the part in bold, actually this whole thing was fucking gold.

  8. "The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity." - William Butler Yeats

    i also like these Bukowski quotes:

    "some people never go crazy. what truly horrible lives they must lead."

    "Anybody can get a job. It takes a man to make it without working."

  9. in yesterday's Apple Daily Juno was sporting the Mastermind Japan X Fenom Levi's, it looked exactly like a regular fenoms except the lightning bolt in circle is replaced by a circle with the MMJ skull....didn't even know something like that came out. Actually kinda curious to find out what the retail on that thing is; MMJ operates on logo hype, but that is some next level branding laziness to cash in quick....

  10. yeah i missed out on the shelter when i was up in SH last month...instead went around the Muse clubs, Bling, Bar Rouge, etc. pretty much same scene as when I was there in 06.

    surprised how money can be spent just as fast as in HK nowadays, if not faster.

  11. ^^^

    Joyce, Lane Crawford etc. have started sales now. The stuff is still marked up pretty high, and selection isn't the greatest. I think the buy for Y's store in Lee Gardens (CWB) is better than what the Central Joyce flagship is carrying for Yohji main line. Although there's a cool black blazer at the latter with the open-zipper panels all over and double buttonholes (not the plaid version), retail is $11,100 HKD.

  12. hey Alex what'd you think of the Surrealist Exhibition on display at StyleForum Gallery this past weekend? I think I've outdone myself, that was one of those bursts in creativity meshed with proper audience interaction that don't come along too often. I hope that stuff doesn't get deleted.
