  1. Where we get our eyeglasses

    imag0297h.jpg

Saturday night, went to go see my boys in A Thousand Horses play to a sold out 12th and Porter. It was madness, and so I only got a couple of shots. Wore my APCs because the 3001 fly kept coming down (they're real tight on me), but I figured I'd post some shots, anyhow. Hope you kids aren't offended by it.

The night ended with after hour Irish Carbombs and pints of Guiness at a closed pub.

For the rest of the week....

  3. FINAL UPDATE:

Well, my final week has come to a close. It's been fun wearing these jeans and seeing. first hand, just how long a great pair can last, and the things it can see.

Went to Hillsboro Village this weekend:

    The place was packed

    imag0299.jpg

    imag0280.jpg

First stop, Fido for brunch. Fido is an old pet store that Bongo Java bought and made into a big ass coffee shop/restaurant:

  4. @PaulT Thanks! Yeah, like I said, this is a sample the Matt built for LVC so the production Type III's very well may have ended up differently. He had a few in this fabric, and then a couple in another fabric that I'm not sure about. He insisted that he liked this one was best. I'm interested to see how it turns out. It's a great jacket.

The Made & Crafted looks really interesting to me. I love anything that is modern but highly influenced by vintage/classic measures. I'm not a purist to the point of shunning or not enjoying modern things, but I love the character that classic/vintage clothing has. And so, a line the melds those together (well) is very interesting.

  5. @haploid I'm a P90 junkie, right now. Old Gibson Jrs. and Specials are my absolute favorite. So I'm probably a bit biased. The RC Booster is the perfect swiss army pedal, sounds great everywhere all of the time for lots of different applications. Beefs up the P90s a bit, too.. Got lots more pedals laying around, this is just the basic board. Buuuut I guess this is a discussion for www.thegearpage.net. :-)

  6. Dropped by Imogene and Willie for the annual garage sale, yesterday.

    ....aaand a very expensive candle.

Then headed for drinks with friends in a quiet Edgehill Village

Now, watching the Bears get creamed by the Packers....and it's sweet.

I believe my leg is about up. Who is next on the list?

  7. This week:

Learning songs at home for an artist's show, and label showcase.

    Headed to rehearsal

(Little amp on this gig for the pissy sound guys that hate stage volume. Fender Pro Jrs. are the jam.)

Sorry about crappy cell phone images like this one.

From here, we did a 3 hr rehearsal and went straight to soundcheck. Played at The Rutledge on 4th Ave. Because the damned zipfly kept coming down....I didn't wear the FH on stage. Sooo moving on...

  8. My wife and I love Rumors. There's one right down the street from us in 12th South, also. But it's fun to venture over to the East Side for 3Crow Sundays, Marche' brunch, Mas Tacos, and Rose Pepper.

Do you do music in LA? I'll be out there working in March.

  9. Hey, all. Relaxing for MLK day because I"m getting sick, and I've got all day rehearsals tomorrow and a show tomorrow night.

    Here's a lil' update:

Got a pic of the sky as the sun set on Friday night on the way into the gym.

    imag0189t.jpg

My wife and I headed to dinner with business friends at a restaurant called Flyte. Really incredible food. All organic, local, everything made from scratch in house.

    imag0192k.jpg

I scarfed down my lamb saddle before I got a picture. What can I say, I was three Red Breast whiskey's in and starving. :-)

Had wine Flytes (samples) with dinner

    imag0194ml.jpg

    Dessert

    imag0197h.jpg

Headed to the Gulch for after dinner drinks

    imag0201p.jpg

    imag0203c.jpg

Turnip Truck, a nice organic market.

    imag0206b.jpg

  10. ....back to work. No, I will not apologize for my desktop background. :-)

    imag0155b.jpg

Headed out tonight with some friends and will get some more good stuff from the East Side and the Gulch neighborhoods.

I can't post any clips up of what I've been working on because it's a series of demos for our record as well other artists' records that won't be out until summer or the end of the year.

Here's some examples of what I do, though:

    www.myspace.com/brennanaertsmusic

My current project on Universal Republic NYC

    www.myspace.com/vinylpinups

Also currently working with some new artists on Lava, a group of LA songwriters, and working on a 60's project for Slaughtergroup Design Firm in Birmingham, AL. Got rehearsals and a show this upcoming week that I'll document.

    Until next time.
