New, raw LVC. Bought these about 4 years ago. They've been in storage since.

They're tagged W34 but actually measure 32" so will probably shrink to around 30".

Never been able to get into them properly!

They're 'Limited Edition' and have an ecru weft which gives them them a 'dirty' vintage look.

go for £100 plus postage. No! Not one hundred not even £80! but....£70, plus postage!

  2. Like the uniforms guys - was out in my

    M-65 last night, with

    Kato bucklebacks

ancient, black Ben Davis shirt, white Goodwear T (I like to keep warm)

    and ...New Balance trainers (!*?)

anyway, chitchat aside, just ordered a Fishermans shirt so I'll post pics when it arrives...

  3. Nice work with the pics Crash, dramatic, with the slanted sunlight.

I like the gray hue on those Lazy S.

My old 2101s have that rich purplish colour but none of the structure in the fades that it looks like you're starting to get .

    (that's cos I boil-washed them, like a mad fool!)

  4. Has anybody got a pair of the 1966's? And if so how was the sizing? Do they shrink TO tag or shrink FROM tag?

I have some 66s from about four years ago - they're tagged W34 but measure 32". Still raw. Part of a Limited Edition with ecru thread. Putting them on the market this weekend as they've never fitted...

  5. Yeah, I can see Baudrillard's not quite what you're after...

:) Funny you mention Benjamin though, because Hebdige opens "Towards a Cartography of Taste' with a great quote from The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and I was going to mention that too. Its a research article on design history and popular culture written for an art and design journal. Its in a section called Taste, Nation and Popular Culture in 'Hiding in the Light (1988) and 'attempts to map out the various responses to imported American goods between 1935 -62' in Britain.

I really don't mean to weigh you down with expectations or over extend your reading list, you've actually got me going looking digging through my books though...;)

  6. If you want to explore the problematics of the perception of Japanese culture from a Western point of view you may find Steve Beard's essay in 'Logic Bomb' interesting. (Serpents Tail '98)

He questions why a host of commentators, from Roland Barthes and William Klein onwards 'insist on seeing Japan as a metaphor for the postmodern condition'. His research begins with a quote from Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan, a late C19 text that is rich in this exoticised vision of Japan as Other.

Jean Baudrillard is worth exploring in his examination of our preoccupation with reproduction and the relationship between the copy and the original. I imagine that if you're looking at Hebdige you're already familiar with Baudrillard though.

I'm really enjoying this thread on sufu - and looking forward to reading your paper...thanks for sparking such a creative thread...

  7. great post arthur.

i guess i going for this as my next pair.

any fit pics? what are the measurements and where did you get them ?

Thanks fardin, yeah I'll get some fit pics and post. I went for W34 but these really measured at least 36" when I first got them. I could have sized down to W32 . These pics are post wash and they now measure 34". And fit fine.

I think once I've worn them awhile they'll stretch again. That's ok as I prefer a loose fit anyway.

I got them from Aeroleather who I find really helpful.

And like Superbobo says, the pocket bags show slightly when worn which looks a little odd!

  8. Just to continue the love for Lee, here's my (Edwin) 1934 101s after about 5 washes and roughly 6 months wear. I tried to get all the shrinkage I could. as Fardin says, they come up pretty big.

Crash - regards stretching, I think they do a bit but mostly I've been pleased at how much they've shrunk overall.

Regards fading properties on sanforised denim I'd say it's better but maybe because it's generally easier to wear it raw for longer .

Difficult to get a representative photo of the colour - these are a really rich deep blue and appear much darker than in the photos.

here's my Hotel Fans after 3 months of occasional wear - the photos don't show it but there are really nice turquoise-green areas just begining to appear.

they're still raw and it'll take some time to make much difference to them as they fit pretty loose on me.

  10. I'm hoping the WW2 model might be out soon - and yeah, those painted rivets look the part.

I'm just really fascinated by their stuff - great details and care over everything.

Might just go for the 47s if the WW2s are going to be a while!

  11. fingers crossed for sizing, I went with the 36x36, hoping it'll be good, I normally wear a 34 in most Japanese brands...

    .

I'm looking forward to seeing how these fit,Tiro - I usually take a 34 too

Also, really looking forward to your post on Ryo and Hiro hhj.

Do you happen to know when they're bringing out their 03 WW11 type?
