I think its more to do with the weave of the denim...IH usually use 3x1 (?) if im not mistaken.. not sure what is the numbers on pbj but i suspect it is due to this...

my ooe have a smell of old clothing article...sort of the smell you can feel inside of vintage shops..

Ive washed them twice with detergent to get rid of it but after afew wear they still smell like prewash...i dont don any hardwork in them just lounging around the house.. Anyone has tips to get rid of this smell?
