I would suggest you steer away from the 5000VX, they do not taper much at all. I'd say go with the 710, but then again I love the black arcs.

I haven't ever tried it on raws, but I've always used GOOP hand cleaner applied directly to the stain, rubbed, and then washed. I doubt it will happen without water.

emmitbrown, is that a true to size fit? I like it.

I got one of those LGC belts ~ 10 months ago and it has stretched considerably. I've only worn it with my jeans, which are a night/weekend affair for me, and I have had to cinch up two holes in the belt (no change in weight). I would actually buy a little shorter than what they instruct you. I don't know if it will keep on stretching or if it just stretches to a point.

On the other hand, the thing is holding up really well and darkening nicely with age, so I can't complain about that.

Nice boots! I'd LP them pretty much right away but it's not going to hurt them much if you can't do it immediately. I learned the next part the hard way...rotate them and keep them DRY! I had a pair of 875s develop a horrible smell after I wore them too often and never let them dry out.

I'm looking for a pair of these in 36. Don't care about a tab, but I would like arcs (don't care which ones). I'm short, so it's fine if they're hemmed.

SC1947 W36 (true to size, maybe even a big big) bought raw. They've had a lot of washes - 3 or 4 machine and probably 4-5 soaks. I'd guess somewhere around 4 months of wear over the past year. I have an office job, so they're only worn every other Friday - Sunday and nights (they'be been in rotation with some S5000VXs that I got in March). I've had to restitch the crotch twice, patch once, 5th pocket once, and various other edge stitching a couple of times. Color is pretty darn close to real-life (I love the blue they're at right now), same goes for contrast. Interestingly enough, I love how the right side is turning out on the front and the left side on the back. Don't mind the cat...

Im usually a 9.5-9. Should i size down to an 8.5 just in case? Or do these boots fit true to size because of the jcrew designation?

Mine fit just like my 875s, which I would say fit a half size larger than most of my other shoes.

Thanks for the measurements, but I think it might be a touch too small for me. I could live with the 23" chest but the 19" waist would be awkward.

Yea they're pretty brand new, just figured I'd go with a preemptive strike on the conditioning before winter hits. I've also heard they'll lighten a bit while the oil gets absorbed, but I may as well accept that I now own dark brown Red Wings.

My own experience with 875s and LP suggests that they will lighten up a lot with time.
