  2. Dude........on the fifth wear of my GS selvedges, the f'ing top button like self destructed......they aren't even fitted tight......In my last 15 pairs of jeans I have never had this happen.....whats that all about??......anyone having this same issue??

hopefully the ghetto ass repair job i did will work, but I was pretty bummed out about it.....

  4. So here it is......my Chinese © vs Japanese (J) KMW comparison....both jeans are semi-new (about 1 month on each)

First thing to point out is the denim itself......the C denim is much slicker, with almost a shiny deep hue....the J denim is much slubbier, and has a ton of cotton hairs sticking out.....the J denim almost feels a bit thicker, and has a more true blue hue (most likely due to the pure vs synthetic indigo)....

As for details.....the C jeans do not have hidden rivets, whereas the J jeans do....The J jeans also have nicer stitching throughout. They both have the hit or miss exposed selvedge on the coin pocket....I do however prefer the copper rivets found on the C jeans over the silver ones on the J. I also prefer the copper anodized crotch buttons on the C over the silver J. Both jeans have a chain stitched hem, which is nice...The J jeans also have a nice leather path on the back, which is absent from the C jeans...

When hot soaking, the C jeans lost a ton of starch, where i saw hardly any loss from the J jean. the picture below shows the soak of the C jeans......forgot to snap one of the J jeans.....

overall they are both nice jeans, but I think I prefer the J over the C.....however since you can find the C jeans online now for 100 or so, I think they are a steal at this price......I will check back in after a few months for some fading updates on the two....

  5. I just picked up some 2010's........these are WAY different than my Chinese made 1950's......will post a photo comparison when I get some time.......there are definitely some pros and cons to both pairs......but they are both sweet ass jeans......:)

  6. You're right. It has to be the synthetic indigo as opposed to the natural indigo. I experienced quite a bit of color loss although the jeans themselves don't look too much different based off of photographs.

I guess the natural indigo likes to stick around a little more........

my GS selvedges finished up drip drying today, and they hardly shrank at all......maybe 1" in the hem and 0.5" or so in the waist......I was surprised yet again......

  7. For anyone interested:

I just soaked my Good Society straight legs in warm water for about 2 hours. They shrunk around 1 size in the waist and about an inch in the inseam like ilovespaz said. There was definite indigo loss and the sheen of the jean definitely soaked off, but all in all minimal change. I had worn them for about 3 weeks before I couldn't stand the huge waist anymore. I expect them to stretch out in waist again, but hopefully not.

So after reading this, I decided to soak my size 31 selvedge straights.....about 3 hours in the tub with pretty hot water.......I didn't see any indigo loss, just lots of brown from the startch......I was surprised.......there were a few blue drops after hanging them up....I am going to try them on tomorrow after work to see if they shrank up at all.....

I wonder if the differnce in indigo loss is due to the synthetic vs the natural indigo??
