sick+rainy day makes for some hobo shit. should prob get negged for posting sloppy shit, but this outfit is one of my favorites ever cuz of level of function/comfort. need to cop new sweats (with pockets preferably) and beanie. this fit might be my whole winter, oversized everything. too lazy/comfy.

edit: anyone have recommendations for sweats+pockets? ideally cashmere/cotton or nice wool/cotton blend

  2. Sick purchase. I see myself buying a boutique amp when I'm a bit older and don't need half/full stacks to play shows!

Here's some info on amp I just posted to supermarket. Thought I'd crosspost, since it's such a rare amp it might be of interest to some of you amp nerds. Here's the thread: http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=245860

I've had this amp for about 6 years, but I only gigged with it for the first year and a half, before I realized how rare it is. When I first bought it, I had an amp tech change out the british electric plug for an American one, look over the amp, and retube it. About a year after I first bought it, it blew its output transformers (while I was just turning up the volume to 5!). Since then, it's been sitting in studios, and only used for recording and the occasional 20 minute solo session! Here's some info about this amp taken from the marshall site:

The model 2000 is a lead guitar valve amplifier rated at 200 watts, but giving a minimum of 250 watts before distortion, and much, much more after distortion sets in. It features two independent channels, a mix input, footswitch channel swapping and LE.D. selection indication.

Channel A is designed to produce the sound readily associated with the Marshall 1959 type amps, but with lots more power and gain, giving a distinct bite right up to phenomenal volume levels.

Channel B has a master volume control and features a variable sweep middle control enabling the best sound to be achieved out of differing guitars.

The valve pre-amps have impressive effects-circuitry with three variations. Effects can be patched into either channel independently or collectively, and the pre-amp jack socket will connect it to other systems.

The valve power amp features both jack and XLR loudspeaker connectors and is variable between 4 and 8 ohms. A further XLR connector carries a 600 ohm balanced D.l. signal complete with earth lift switch for connection to a mixer desk. Mains input is through a locking cannon connector.

    Some other fun facts:

This amp was designed with input from Angus Young and other notable rock stars of the day, with the intention of producing an amp perfectly suited for stadium rock sized concerts.

After distortion sets in, according to my amp tech, this thing was putting out close to 300watts.

It's rumored less than a couple hundred of these were ever made, they were only in production for a couple years.

For a hardcore band I was a couple years ago, I recorded with this amp going into a bogner cab and a vintage hiwatt cab loaded with v30s. I used a Gibson Les Paul, with a tubescreamer in front of it. Fucking snarling tone, I'm pretty sure its the best I've ever heard a marshall sound. I'll miss this thing.

  3. do you guys know of any good lounge/bars where you can dance at? my two best friends' birthdays are coming up and we're gonna spend the night in the city and go out.. any suggestions? one of them suggested bubble lounge. i don't go out in the city very often at all.

My friends that are into clubs/bars/dancing all like holy cow. Kinda too bro-y for me, but I've been there even on a weeknight and its poppin. Top40 hip hop kinda stuff, pretty typical.

Edit: I'm not help for places to go dancing, but there are a lot of chill bars all over the city where you can meet people and sit and talk. nocnoc at haight and filmore for a slightly older crowd, usually underground electronica is the soundtrack. I'm a big fan of the two pool bars on 16th (?) between mission and valencia. One's called Kilowatt (dog friendly!), and there's one right across the street, I always blank on the name. Pop's at 24th and Bryant has a definite hipster faux-dive bar vibe, but the drink specials during the week are cheeeaaap, and i'm usually into the music.

  4. So I know this isn't exactly the best place for this kind of stuff, but I figured there might be some amp nerds here who have the kind of money for a piece of gear this rare.

My amp has some cracks in the cooling vents on top (shown in picture) and is missing the marshall face plate (easily replaced). It was retubed and looked over by my amp tech several months ago, and has only been played for 15 minutes since, just to make sure everything works fine. This thing is a BEAST and I'll be sorry to see it go, but I have money issues I need to take care of.

Here are some links to messageboard threads, which could be useful since this amp is so rare, not much information is available on the internet.

Due to the rarity of this amp, I'm only taking offers at this point. Don't hesitate to email me with any questions, and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. Please don't waste my time with lowball offers, this is definitely a collectible!
