  1. damn... 17%!

Yeah, pretty unbelievable for beer. And she was pretty damn unique. Kinda like a 'light' barleywine, which makes little sense considering how much more alcohol it has than barleywines. But it was light and sweet with lots of body.

  2. I love group pics..

and Farhad - you know I would if I could..

How far of a ride to that location is it from SFO ?

Maybe we can organize a sufu photo shoot in 11/02

Closer to SFO is Pinnacles National Monument, which is part of the same geologic formation as Vasquez Rocks, and drifted to the north by fault movements.

  3. Yesterday I visited MOTO's shop in Tokyo, snapped a few pics and bought new boots. Here are some photos of new shoes, worn-in shoes and a leather painting. His rough-outs are soft as butter and really quite beautiful; the rough-out monkey boots were gorgeous (maybe my next pair?).

I'll post a couple photos of my new boots in a little while.

Red Desert Boots - Unfortunately, my iPhone didn't do well with the lighting right above these boots, but MOTO is starting to sell some red shoes and they look great in person.

  4. after reading that post im confused. i agree with him, pics would be nice.

im almost positive that that is not elk leather. i believe elk is much more porous looking. its similar to deer skin but softer/ thicker.

Here is a close up of the boot leather:

Here is a close up of my dog's collar that is definitely elk leather:

When I ordered the boots, the rep specified the elk tanned leather to 'match' the look of the dress brown on the SD. I never though that it was elk, but merely the style in which it was tanned. However, looking at the pics, there is some similarity in the grain. The boots would be American leather, while the collar is European leather (not sure which country). The collar is immensely softer and more supple than the boots.

Here is a link for Drew's boots in elk roughout (and there is a pair of White's in Elk roughout on here as well:

  5. Some photo's of my White's Farmer Ranchers, as requested by TallyHo.

These were supposed to be Semi Dress, but White's wouldn't do steel toes in the Semi Dress, so I ordered custom Farmer Ranchers in 6", Elk tanned brown with steel toes. These have since been resoled with Cat's Paws and are laced with Alden's flat waxed laces. These are work boots that are exposed to the elements and beaten up.
