ALso what kind of leather are these

This is a problem that you're going to encounter with any steel toe boot... it's unavoidable. From my understanding, the celastic toe is simply a reinforcement for the toe box and not in any way a replacement for a steel toe. And to comply with my company (as well as gov't regulations), I have to have a steel toe boot.

When I tried to get the SD with a Steel Toe, I was told directly by White's that they hadn't tested the boot with the steel toe and they did not want to sell a product they couldn't stand by.

I just received this via proxy and it is too small for me. Brand New! It is a really, really nice shirt. It's made of hemp linen. It is comfortable and perfect for summer. And as you'd expect from Sugar Cane, the details are spot on.

Anyway, Kyle from bakershoe told me that White's 'might' carry blue/burgundy chromexcel around June, and possibly other options that aren't available yet in the US...

Here is a pic I just took. They'll lighten up after a couple months to a rich chocolate, and when they do the leather is ready for some hydration. This dark brown, almost black, color is the exact color they were when they arrived direct from White's.

The dealer that ordered them called it elk tanned leather. It might also or conversely be called oil tanned leather.

Yeah, they are brown.

They were treated with obenauf's shortly before those pics were taken, which always darkens them. After the obenauf's wears down, they appear much more brown.
