  1. Went to the pub for a drink in [a less than] merry England's first smoke-free day. The place stayed empty. Went home and watched five minutes of that Concert For Diana before wanting to gouge out my own eyes with a key fob. There's a special circle of hell reserved for those wretched performers. Fell asleep on the sofa for four hours and then couldn't sleep all night.

  2. On my raw dry Ralph Regulars, I sized down from 34" to 33" waist. I wish I'd sized down even more because after seven weeks they've stretched to the point where either they're gathered at the waist or sliding off my hips. A bit disappointed, I am.

I'll just have to buy another pair - something different this time.

  3. I've just finished the first novel in a trilogy by Patrick Hamilton called 20,000 Streets Under the Sky. The first novel, The Midnight Bell, is an atmospheric story about a pub waiter who, foolishly and ruinously, falls in love with a prostitute during 1930s London. A wonderfully embittered tale of unrequited love and treacherous betrayal. The next novel in the trilogy is called the Siege of Pleasure and is a continuation of the story.

  4. For me, the Hanes Beefy T is the finest. I discovered them over 20 years ago and the build quality is fantastic but there are only a few retailers stocking them in London.

Uniqlo do three packs but the teeshirts are almost sheer and the fabric is thin, more like a vest in terms of fabric weight.

Marks and Spencer also do three packs and the cotton is beautiful and although they lack the body of the Beefy T they're much heavier than the Uniqlo versions.

  5. I am wondering where the real shit is going down.....everything I see is squeaky clean. ....miss the smell of stale urine and beer.

Blimey, are we talking London, England here? As a native south Londoner, I grew up on stale beer and the stench of urine.

The Shoreditch suggestion was good, but the area's gone more mainstream now and the 'scene' has moved east to Bethnal Green.

What exactly did y'all want to see?

  6. Thanks everyone for your input.

I do a lot of gardening and landscaping work in my little city lot, but I am apprehensive about wearing out there for fear of getting them too dirty to wear everyday again.

I know what you mean. I use a damp sponge to remove any excess mud so that I don't resemble a homeless tramp at work.
