Hi all, For those that don't know me, I spent the last 3.5 years or so working at Son of a Stag/Soldier blue in London, UK. If any of you had any repairs done by them during that period, it's very likely to have done by me. I've now left SoaS and have moved down to the Kent coast where I'm going to spend more time making bags and leather accessories (wallets, keyrings & the like) I'm also set up to take on jeans repairs. Pretty perfect Sunday. A chilly walk across the top of the white cliffs, followed by the best pub roast I've had in years, in a 400 year old pub set in a village with my name. For those not familiar with the white cliffs of Dover, this is britains biggest man made structure. And along with the Great Wall of China, pyramids of Giza etc, it's one of just a few man made structures that can be seen from space. Construction was started during the napoleonic war to dissuade the french navy. It was further fortified from the 1st world War onwards to the scale seen today. Fun fact, it gets a fresh coat of paint every 5 years and uses over 350 tonnes of paint each time.

Today's adventures took us to the Romney marsh sound mirrors. These big and rather beautiful concrete structures were built in the inter-war years along the south coast. They were designed to act as an early warning system for approaching aircraft but were effectively made redundant by the introduction of Radar. The area is now a nature reserve. You can only get right up close to them on certain days. This wasn't one of those days 😀 Next up, a bit Further along the coast to Dungeness which is a strangely bleak place. There seem to be quite a few artists in residence living in various shacks. Many other dwellings look to be airb&b's Derek Jarman famously lived there.

Semi retired. I'm in the process of setting up my workshop which I hope to have up and running in the next couple of weeks. Once that's done I intend to get back to making things to try and sell (bags, leatherwork, try my hand at making a jacket or two), and be in a position to take on denim repairs and alterations. Sadly I can't afford a 43200g so no chainstitching 🥺

I moved away from London recently. Wife and I cashed in, jacked in our jobs and moved down to the Kent coast. The kids joined us today for xmas so we gave them a short walking tour. We're near a lot of military land. This is one of their shooting ranges. It's in pretty regular use but I've not heard any shots fired for the last few days We have a miniature steam train that starts near us l, runs for about 13 miles and ends in a place called Dungeness which is unofficially Britains only desert and is beautifully bleak and desolate. It's shadowed by a nuclear power station that is being dismantled (we're heading there tomorrow so will take some pics). We get to hear the whistle and see the steam from our house which is lovely to hear and see. We find it much more exciting than our kids do.

I picked up one of the sweats at the weekend. Dark grey marl, size Medium. Really happy with it. Mid weight. Prob similar to the duck digger/warehouse sweatshirts. Good cut and shape. Boxy and short with a nice deep waistband and cuffs. I'm told that shrinkage is minimal and will report back once I've washed it. Already a firm favourite.

I've not actually got them yet. Due to land tomorrow hopefully. Getting ahead of myself 😁

I'm not there any more so can be completely independent 🤩 Rudy will always bend over backward to help if there's a problem. He's terrified of negative reviews which really can do a lot of damage. Prices- yeah a bit steep when we all know we can get hold of it for a fraction of the cosy.

Similar happened to me a few years back in a motorbike accident. I had to have a few good bits chopped me including a barbour international I'd just rewaxed, a valencia st type 2 that was barely worn in, warehouse sweatshirt and a momotaro chambray. I was most upset about the type 2, and shattered collarbone of course. Hope you have a quick and straightforward recovery.

Has anyone tried the Allevol raglan sleeve sweats sold through Clutch cafe? Very tempted by the grey marl in the hope they fit short and boxy.
