Just tried the J1W-GTPL in a local retailer today. I am a size S in J1A-GTPL. i had to size down to XS on j1w because S just too big….. feels like it s just oversized on the width.
J1W, W for WIDE. You don't say!
(Of course, go with whatever size you want but thought that was too funny)

Should I size up in J58-WS? I have smalls in J34 and J47A and they fit fine, but typically wear M in other brands' jackets. J58 is more of a liner, so does it fit small?
Taking advantage of a short berlin visit to pick up some duty free gore-tex threads
I'm usually S in ACR shells and had a S J58 and found it too small. Sized up to M and liked it much better. For reference I wear M/L in shirts.

Any suggestion for an additional strap to achieve 3-point stabilisation for a 3a-3ts? It keeps swinging around when I'm cycling.
This might work: https://www.dsptch.com/collections/pack-add-ons/products/stabilizer-strap-s (they have other options too)

Hey guys, I hope you feel good at this time. Got a question for long time Acronym enthusiasts. Right now I'm trying to understand what piece should be my next goal. Already asked for advice from a couple pal's that could be on this forum, but thought that asking a bigger audience would be a plus. Just need guidance in my path of exploration of brand. So here is a list of what I got in my closet.
It really depends on what your goals are, which you have not shared, so it makes it difficult for people to help you. You mentioned "exploration," -- is that your end goal? to taste all the different flavors of ACR? If that's the case, you could focus on pieces utilizing:
- different fabrics (e.g. seems like you have no -CH pants)
- silhouettes/fit blocks
- different solutions to similar problems (e.g. what's the best pocket organization for my use-case?)
And are there things you're dissatisfied with in your current pieces? certain (social/climate) situation that a garment doesn't address (e.g. would you feel comfortable wearing what you have to a wedding? to an office? to a board meeting? to the tropics? to deep winter?).
Not that you have to cover anything and everything with ACR, but these are some questions you should ask yourself to figure out what your "needs" are, and then people will be better equipped to help.

Anyone have experience with P10 pants and Veilance Voronoi? Mostly interested in comparison of fit and movement. Thanks for any info.
Voronois were some of the most constricting pants I've ever worn, though this was ~5 years ago so YMMV with the current model. Some of that may be the material though, as I had P10-DS which have a lot of stretch.
They also only lasted about 6 months in an office environment before the crotch blew out and when trying to get a warranty replacement AV told me they don't cover "normal wear and tear" to which I argued a 6-month lifespan of sitting in an office chair constitutes "normal wear and tear" for $400 pants? After several weeks of back-and-forth and getting a supervisor involved they finally gave me store credit, but man was it a headache. But again, this was 5 years ago so not sure what it'd be like now; but they left such a bad taste in my mouth that I haven't gone with AV too much since then. Though not sure ACR's customer service would be any better (but thankfully I haven't had to deal with that yet!).

Yes of course Nike had a huge hand in it. But acrhive pre-dates any Nike collaboration. That's why I said helped and before [...] any clout.

@originalprogram has been on ACR since before anyone knew what ACR was. And you know he literally created @acrhive--it's HIS profile. It can be argued that that profile helped put ACR on the map, before ACR had any sort of clout.

I'll quote these two parts.
The pattern-making and articulation does NOT set acronym apart, there are actually many brands that execute exactly what ACR achieves. And almost all designs used by ACR are not original, they are inspired by past military/workwear garments which continue to inspire many other brands as well. So to say it "sets ACR apart" is naive. And also to say it's naked to the eye is obviously apparent, isn't that why we're all on this page in the first place? is because we share the same eye for technical attention that E does.
It's silly to say that because a design isn't original means it's not set apart. You gonna tell me the car seats you maybe work on don't set it apart from a Honda Civic's just because they're both car seats? An Acronym BDU is going to be way different than a military standard issue BDU. C'mon now.
And yeah when I refer to "others" I generally mean people not on sufu...obviously people here are more in-tune with garments but I'm more referring to the average HB reader.
2 hours ago, mariahscarry said:Something I didn't put in my first post, but you basically just highlighted it perfectly for me to touch on, is that the J1E has no new innovation(Hat excluded but...LOL). It's literally an update where E is attempting to just expand further on where the J1A design fails. And that being said, it's still the same pockets/zippers/systems maybe arranged in a more accessible and convenient way, but that somehow took almost 20 years to finally figure out? and oh also costs over $2,000...
Often innovation is iterative, and rarely a huge jump. I think most designers worth their salt understand this. Plus, the fact that it took 20 years discounts every other J1 in between...and sometimes you have to wait for other industries to innovate as well, e.g. the QuickFree zipper seems like it came out ~2018? And saying "took almost 20 years to finally figure out" is facile--you can say "finally" for anything with the benefit of hindsight.

9 minutes ago, Nebulae said:All the most functional and most compelling acronym features lie in deep level revisions to conventional garment construction + patterncutting.
Deep pockets, KG fit block, mezzanine pockets, detached entry pockets, two-way pocket bags, parallel zippers @ CF closure, holster pockets, etc.
Flashy stuff like escape zip, magnetic tape, gravity pockets are largely whatever and more cumbersome than functional (btw, best application of escape zip is always on vehicular entry jackets lol)

agree with you, but I think some may feel guilty to admit it because ACR is expensive and half to justify their purchase with the different features rather than just its aesthetics.
As @Nebulae mentioned I think people that justify ACR by these flashy features are doing a huge disservice to ACR. The pattern-making and articulation is what really sets ACR apart, but these are technical details that are largely "invisible" to the naked eye, and even more so to the consumer that has no idea about garment construction to begin with. That's why you get kids that say it's over-priced.
If you look back a few pages to @thatslapz impressions on the J1E, I guarantee most people don't even understand half the words he used, let alone why changes to them make a garment better, worse, or different. The devil is in the details for any hobby--garments are no different. I have a friends that are into fishing, cars, audiophiles, power tools, etc. and I definitely don't understand all the intricacies that separate a beginner level item from the higher-end and therefore can't appreciate them. But I can at least understand that the difference is there. If you understand just one hobby in-depth, I feel like you can understand all of them to some degree because you learn there is so much that can go into an item that the average person has no clue about.
