  1. close, but no cigar.

he's been asked to play some dates with queens, but he has not given a definite answer - this is similar to his missing out on the recording of Era Vulgaris because of prior engagements (breaking up DFA79, getting MSTRKRFT running). there is no word on yes or no, hopefully yes, cause it would be damn cool. but queens just inagurated a new bassist, who from recent show reports, is pretty damn good at what he does. apparently though, josh homme is planning to do some remix's w/ MSTRKRFT as well as a new U.N.K.L.E. mix.

fun fact: jesse keeler gave queens the moog line in the beginning of "Turnin' on the Screw" - Troy then augmented it with Trent Reznor. also Trent Reznor appears on the B-side "Era Vulgaris" on vocals/moog

    i'm a queens head.

  2. i'm questioning my current love-status. so i'm pursuing a girl my age but an old friend thats in college was here over the weekend, absolutely gorgeous, but the problem is my smarmy ass brother is going after her, and somehow i feel like cheated, cause he only met her for the first time the other week. and i've been friends with her for a lot longer and what not. i just feel like he's in it for the fuck of it, and he's just one upping me as my older brother. fucker.

i hate thinking about this in terms of him being my brother, cause then is kinda weird, but it just bothers the hell outta me.

EDIT: i feel like holden caulfield :X

  3. I'm not really inclined to enter a long, drawn out argument about the merits of NGE's storytelling, but I will say that I can not consider any series that requires deep knowledge of a subsequently produced work well plotted.

you don't have too. the whole thing is a huge huge puzzle. luckily, i had my older brother to explain it to me before i saw it, also, i was already thoroughly depressed, so it came off as more of a linear telling.

  4. Wait, are you saying you can put NGE on as an alternative to watching a story fall apart?

evangelion never falls apart. it just takes a number of times watching it to figure out whats going on. its actually very linear, you just need to know the manga very well considering it puts in plan terms the storyline (despite being written after), and know what was going on with Hideki Anno at the time.

  5. my avatar...

thats what actually got me to dig out my DVD

you're right, the story does sorta fall apart. but you can't always put out Evangelion can you? FLCL was a good, if not short, series.

  6. will dating her benefit you academically?

no considering shes only a student teacher. but ill be damned if i cant say i've bedded a teacher.

im sure nothing will come of it, she was quite far gone when we started chatting.

  7. Search function you muppet. You could have just clicked 'topman' in the tags and found my post on them months ago.

me bad, i hadnt known it was a topic of discussion. though i do like being referred to as a muppet.

  8. Woah... How do sliqs compare to Levis or ANF Slim straights? Because I'm going to NYC in a weeks, and I hear they have an H&M flagship over there, I might go and check them out if they are as slim or a bit slimmer than the ones mentioned above.

sliq's are slim compared to levi's 501's. they are tighter in the thigh and are tapered at the bottoms (leg opening). i cannot compare to any AnF because I have never A) stepped foot in AnF B) would not be caught dead wearing AnF C) c'mon, its Abercrombie & Fitch.

my advice would be to try on all the different styles they have at H&M, they have slim, tight, straight, baggy, bootcut, flare, etc. not all come in raw, but raw sliq's are good for really any weather occasion. i just soaked mine the other day, unfortunately i hadn't worn them for a couple of days so the combs were a little on the weak side.

  9. funny coincidence. when i brought in You're Living All over Me to computer graphics class when i was a freshman, the teacher was new, and he perked up when he heard it. he then went on, and still does to this very day, tell me stories about being up at UMass and chilling with J Mascis and Lou and Murph, and seeing them as Dinosaur, and seeing all of J's hardcore bands and what not and how he let J into the food court because he wasn't at college there. when i told him i was going to see them back in 2005, he was really psyched and he was like "tell J Adam Thierault says hey!!" i never did considering i was in the back of the crowd, so.. regardless, he still tells me ridiculous stories about dropping acid with lou and playing guitar in the band that eventually would become Jesus Lizard.

  10. This forum isn't a representation of the general population, it's just a small minority, and I'm sure there are other forums but what percentage of people do you think actually own designer jeans? 10%? Less?. But I don't want to argue this any further.

Anyways, To the point, I have some Sliqs from H&M, I don't think they are raw though. And 501's aren't slim enough for me. (I like my jeans slim) Not Skin tight, but like the Levis 514s? How much are the sliqs from H&M anyways, I didn't buy my pair.

designer jeans can entail anything really. levi's are designer for the express reason that there is a name on them. yes, the raw/selvage denim market is a microcosm of the denim market as a whole, but honestly, A&F isn't designer? please.

anyways, my sliq's were $40. you gotta usually size down 1 in them for slim slim. if you want SKINNY jeans, i'll suggest you go for something like APC New Standard or New Cures.

cmon, i got love for dinosaur jr., its just that the sounds of each song begin to slowly coalesce into one song. that song being "the lung" or possibly "sludgefeast" both great songs, dont get me wrong.

  12. do they still tour? their live show is amazing.

i saw their first reunion show back @ central park in 2005. badass, unfortunately, when you see dinosaur jr., you forget that they've written the same song over and over again for nearly 2 decades. fun time though.

  13. it's such different stuff. no one will argue that oasis wasn't a blatent beatles ripoff, but dumb and loud? they were signed to creation post MBV....it's good to have this discussion though, i think one thing we both agree on is that the british press magnified everything both bands did.

true. but when creation signed them, their owner alan mcgee was on a infinite coke binge and did it to spite blur who were rubbing Modern Life is Rubbish cult success in his face. suede came to hear them, said they were shit, jarvis didnt want anything to do with them, and morissey thought they were a bunch of retards. originally the press made fun of them because one of the members was bald. me, im not suede, or morrisey fan, but they were both prominent and much loved british bands (smiths/morrisey respectively apart and what not), and stephen street resigned not to even enter the frey when they asked him to come aboard as a producer. i think creation wanted to go in the complete opposite direction after Loveless considering it put them $622,000 USD in debt (something like 250000 pounds sterling at the time), not to mention that they were already 1.2 million pounds sterling in debt from poor publishing deals and alan mcgee's insatiable love of coccaine. by going in the exact opposite direction of Primal Scream and MBV (Jesus & Mary Chain had since become a minor fixture) they were able to exploit a fluke, which in that lies, Oasis. starting with an aggressive marketing plan, and pushing them onto london, the manchester boys were quickly greeted with further disdain and hatred by the britpop elite - Blur and the like - but were cast in the light of rock royalty before they were even big. Oasis had to have truly been a fluke because otherwise, how do you account for a record album? no one liked them for the longest time and then just like poof, their huge? lucky if there ever was anything. right band at the right time. doesnt help that damon was an asshole though haah
